There's a Poet In Everyone

Dear Sprouting Rhymers,

To me, modern poetry could be most simply put as “everything”,
everything that you see, experience or feel put into words.
Everything written to evoke thought and feeling in others can be poetry.
A most basic example could be a tear, one lonely teardrop.
What is the journey of a tear, what feelings caused it to emerge?
What meaning does it convey? What does it say to you
and what do you want others to see or feel?
The possibilities are endless.

Should I be able to share anything of value to others would be
very gratifying from my humbled perspective, so I will
offer the following.
The best poems stem from truth, your truth.
When you are in the mood to write, do not hesitate. Times
will come when you wish you were inspired.
Ideas come at the oddest times, at concerts, at dinners,
at the grocery store, in dreams. Record them.
Write about what you see.
Let your passion guide you.
Don’t be afraid to take chances. Risks are worth it even
If you fail. Growth is sometimes painful.
Respect rules and learn from those you admire.
Study and attempt all forms of poetry. There is so much
more to poetry than rhyming
Do not be afraid to ask for help.
Have fun!

Having started writing later in life, I can only say that I wish I
had done so much earlier. I have enjoyed enormous satisfaction
in discovering that I could contribute something of beauty to the world.

I love to write about romance and summer and sunsets
and things that are silly.

Favorite reference sources are Poetrysoup and Wordhippo,

My favorites of the poems that I have written are:

My Blue Valentine
One can speak of Sunset
The Writes of Romance
If You Weren’t Such a Nut Meg
Confessions of a Renoir
Needles in the Snow
The Forgotten One
A Concrete Heart
Hot Summer Ecstasy
Golden Torture Looms

My literary background is purely that of an amateur. From
as far back as I can remember, I always liked to write and tell
stories. It wasn’t until I experienced a personal tragedy, a few years
ago, that I felt the need to put my feelings into writing as a way
of healing. Since then, I have not stopped and I write nearly every day.

A suggestion for title: There’s a Poet in Everyone

 Good Luck!

Human Ignorance

Mankinds actions are motivated by status or money,
we're not hunter gatherers that kill in this society,
people take chances on advantageous circumstances,
grab it in a glance through vantage and see advances.

Call it selfish or intelligent but these ways are relevant,
the powerful elevate through the system,
others don't and fall down becoming the equivalent
of a pet rock, alienated victims.

The thing to remember is a lot of our knowledge is theory,
some can be proven but most can't be,
theories with unavoidable flaws are theories less likely,
but still believed as fact, by many, not me.

In history nearly all were uneducated, mankind has never had a clue,
this allowed stories to spread and in time they became "true",
through their age, tradition, or heritage now still believed by quite a few,
motive created these stories and with time their strength grew.

1% believers ignorant to basic mathematics,
Lucifer, and religious believers tell tales most emphatic,
theories with flaws yet people devote to this septic,
but all these ideas are man made as a tactic.

Fear equals control,
control equals possessions,
possessions equal wealth,
wealth equals status,
status means power,
and power makes mean,
some call this status "elite".

As in untouchable, above all and living the dream,
historically an elite there definitely has been,
Emperors, warlords and Kings and Queens,
now mostly dissolved the elite can't be seen.

The pyramid structure or the leader of the pack,
humans live in a way that sees layers stack,
the elite lead the way and we all follow through,
their greed and selfish power actually benefits you.

So maybe that's why ignorance is our natural fashion,
things we've no idea of we tend to believe with passion,
but we are told knowledge the same as those in the old days,
stories, theories or ideas, taught and accepted in the same ways.

Ignorance is the balance to curiosity,
unlike the cat, we climbed out the tree,
curious enough to leave the caves,
these two the key and lock to how we behave.

This poem is full of ignorance, I do as we do,
I could be right, truth is, I havent got a clue.

Chances

Risking it all
at the edge of the cliff-
edge of the water-
edge of life.
Debating,
replaying,
like the song stuck in your head
circling around and round like that pendulum-
the one you choked around your tainted complexion-
the blood blended,
colors of your true self
true revelation
revealed.
Then there was no longer a lie present
a lie encrusted within the dank sorrow-
buried beneath your organs
behind those abusive eyes-
the one's that would yell and caress my blonde hair,
the one's that cherished the memories and fought for the future,
a lie so asserting, it testified
and unraveled your past.
Your insecurities.
The one's that make you run-
so fast you're running from your awaiting death,
like the coffin is chasing your terrible lying eyes-
I see them through,
like a lie detector,
blunt,
accurate,
honest.
You thought you knew me,
yet you are soon to know you failed.
Rumours shouldn't talk
and they ultimately should not decipher whether somebody is loyal or not
or if they take chances-
because I jumped,
a swan dive,
deep into the depths of the frosty air,
beneath, the clouded waters of doubt.
They stimulated my senses,
giving me some hope
some confidence that I'd be saved,
like in the movies as the damsel,
like the hero who nearly dies but can't.
And then,
I smack the frozen waters,
knocked out, cold,
hammering the thing called chance,
something I spontaneously attempted,
something you told me to do
and you didn't even save me.
You didn't even latch out your hand,
you didn't even look.
Instead you had your back turned,
walking away ignoring,
hiding,
just like you always do,
and just like it's the last time.
Then, you come running back
after time passes,
after I'm gone-
dead.
It was you who left me there, stranded,
paralyzed.
There wasn't even an opportunity to move on
only the opportunity to accept.
And though you came charging back,
ripped open the doors
you're alone.
And this time it was your lesson,
this time you have to learn that though the consequences are severe
you have to be willing to take chances,
risk a little,
because if you don't, you'll be alone,
stay alone,
all because you weren't honest to yourself.

Needing a Tow

I'm trying to breath but it's hard to, living
in this world like being trapped behind d-
oor corner. Seeking for a light but still it's
like living in a night where a day will never
come, really, yeah, I'm stucked like a car in
need of a rope to be pulled to its owner.

Who is with heart to take me to the hills, ma-
ybe I can see a clear view than this mist I'm
faced with, my tears simply means you are t-
he one I need to get help from, come hold my
hand maybe this journey won't be so hard like
when I was alone.

They said,' two can accomplish twice as much
one can; they get a better return for their labour
.' If two under same blanket can gain warm from
eachother, then how one can; now I need you, for
strange nights and seasons are coming, this is a
task I must work out like ants preparing for winter,
better early than late.

I did try to run but it was like just walking, did try
to see but just before my toes, opened my ears
and heard nothing. I'm living in a cage of pains
so you come take me out, there's no cure without
someone's hand to reach for help, I'm burning like
a siner thrown in hell, oh,God help me.

I'm being insulted like a dog, come this voices are
hurting my ears I can't even focus on what I'm doi-
ng ,give me a drop of water even if it can be with a
tip of a nail I would appreciate that; this place is fire
,I'm lost I can't even tell this is a place I killed a boy
in my within to a man I'm, oh,I'm shouting come and
tow me up; can't face all this ridicules,isolation,enmi-
ty,stupidity, and such death alone, God come save my
soul.

You chose me not only this world, you had a purpose
about me,now let me be fruitful before mankind to fu-
lfill what was said by you when I was still in a womb
of my mother, let me not feel so trapped, take me into
your house like you did to David, let me fight with faith
for things I desire like Jacob/James did, give me power,
Oh,Lord that I may not be towed but to tow myself up,
let me burn like fire where no evil would take chances
about my soul, for my body is your church.Oh,I need you
Lord.

City of Angels

If, as hippy folklore claims, it never rains in California,
Then the watermark is never washed out of the phoney cheque,
And when you’re dead and gone there’ll be no one here to mourn ya
For it was only God above urinating down your neck.
Carbon monoxide inhalation, it’s said, is pretty good for you,
So quit that forty a day habit, baby, move it with the flow;
Auto-suicide will wend its merry way and turn you blue,
So wrap your ruby red ones ‘round a tail pipe instead and blow.

Handprints down at Graumans, stoned celebrity status crested
Of the celluloid long-dead and the many who are soon to be;
My shopping list wants tummy-tucked, liposuction-sculpted, silicon breasted
Platinum blonde-haired bimbos who are certified free of H.I.V.
The boardwalk stretches like a sunshine catwalk by the sand and sea,
That roller babe looks good enough to eat, this must be heaven,
A junk food, high-cal sex blitz, glitzy steam hammer driven reality,
Her brain and heart aged sixty, yet her body twenty-seven.

Hang loose, chill out in air-conditioned stretch limo deep freezers,
It sure ain’t safe to mosey around alone, so don’t take chances;
And the infrared sun might fry your cheek to cancer and bejeezus,
Tough to keep your tongue in it, then, under the circumstances.
At night the stars reveal themselves, yet don’t look to the skies,
Dead super novas are never seen through pollution and stagnation,
Diaz, Hanks, Di-Caprio hold heaven’s wonder in cash cow eyes,
Down here that just about outshines every thing in God’s creation.

Multinational, mega-corporate, Hollywood moguls kick sorry ass,
Bedroom or boardroom these bondage freaks wield Olympian power,
Snorting lines of purest coke, feeding teenage pussy a champagne glass,
A minute on the screen, her life destroyed within an hour.
Gordon Gecko got it wrong, for greed is far from good you see,
Ray Chandler’s quip about this place a compliment and a half -
You know, the one where he gave this town a paper-cup personality -
Still you’ve gotta laugh, don’t you? Well, don’t you gotta laugh…?

On the Right Road

One of the hardest things to deal with in life
Is when you're stuck in situations that cause nothing but strife
Unable to move from point a to point b
Unable to move out of abject poverty
Unable to have relationships that are beneficial and true
Unable to leave that environment which has seemed to have swallowed you
Now hating those who are progressing and moving ahead
With bitterness in your heart, angry and seeing red

Now a blind man was on the road a beggar named Bartimaeus
Stuck in his situation when he encountered the Lord Jesus
He was on the right road that day with a chance to change his situation
He was on the right road that day to receive a life altering transformation

Many of us allow our situations to overwhelm us and take control
Many of us stay in the same rut too afraid to think bold
Unwilling to spare some change in regards to our circumstances
Unwilling to get up and go out, unwilling to take chances
You can't blame no one but yourself if you stay stuck in your situation
You need to interrupt that vicious cycle if want true transformation

Bartimaeus interrupted the cycle of his tedious every day life
And when the opportunity arose he got bold
and called on Jesus the Lord Christ
Stepping out on faith Bartimaeus flipped the script
And in spite of others rebuking him towards Jesus he went
He was on the right road that day and in the right place
And in spite of his blindness and brokenness
he received Jesus's mercy and grace

Now when Jesus asked Bartimaeus of his needs and desires
It was a question of self examination and godly inspired
For God has a way of making us look inside ourselves to discover
What we need to be made whole and completely recovered

On the right road with God with the right attitude in mind
On the right road trusting in God and you will come to find
That God knows what you need to be made whole
As only God has the ability to heal your soul
On the right road ready to make a change in life
On the right road trusting in God and Jesus the Christ

Billy

There are guns all over the country aiming at you.
There's a lawman on your trail who'd love to surround you.
Bounty hunters are encroaching all around you.
Billy they're just never going to let you be.
It seems that there's always some stranger sneaking glances.
Could he be some trigger happy fool willing to take chances?
Having a price on your head brings many threatening advances.
Billy, you're not in jail but you're still not free.
You're enemies and politicians want you to be put down,
so they've hired Mr Garrett to go and hunt you down.
He says he'll either bring you back alive or put you in the ground.
Billy, you're always going to be on the run.
Everyone says that Pat Garrett has your number.
So sleep with one eye open when you slumber.
Every little sound you hear could end up being thunder.
Thunder from the barrel of his gun.
Looking over your shoulder from sunrise to sundown.
Never being able to take root somewhere and settle down.
Billy it must make you feel even more low down
to be hunted by the man who was your friend.

I often wondered what thoughts and feelings were going on in his head
as he stood staring out the window next to his bed
watching the gallows being built meant to be his deathbed.
One can't help but wonder what was going on in the Kid's head.
Did he know at that time that his hanging would never come to be?
Did he know that before night fall, he'd once again be free?
Whatever his thoughts and feelings, they were interrupted rudely
by Deputy Bob Ollinger, one of his guards while in custody.

And Then Came You,Another Chance For Love

Vunerable, my heart my own; not trusting; hard to trust any one-
Emotions running rampant,
Not willing to take chances
I sealed my life, my heart with protective defenses
And then came you
You saw me, wanted to know me, desired me and changed my life's view
So that I am dreaming of life's potentialities.

Blind, not looking
And out of the darkness through the disallusion of life's negatiivity,
love came through you and brought serenity
And though my heart was encased with barriers, deep and strong
I believe God sent you to adorn my life with intimacy of feelings and
desires never felt before till you came and embarked my heart's door.
The feelings of sadness you broke and with your coming,
I have feelings of new possibilties.

Timid, shy, alone-
Needing someone to call my own
Lost within myself-
Hurts and pains of the past yielding themselves in me so strong
Robbing me of life's true love, its full experience-
My life needing new direction:  a purpose of fulfilling;
Then came you and I am alive and living.

Timing seemed off at first but nonetheless we met
Spent time together and then time progressed-
Causing a moment's separation;
However years and live have brought us back together
Through God's renewing--now full circle--a reconnection
And then came you, again, and to my surprise but with a welcomed spirit-
My heart is fully open to love's possibilities.

And then came you and I am totally fulfilled.
And then came you and I am inspired and yielding to love's will.
And then came you and my heart if leaping with joy and hope-
No longer enslaved by life's tightrope.
And then came you and I am free-
Many inhibitions carried away by the wind of destiny;
So I know and believe in the power of love's--your love--potency.

God's love for us. Your love for me. My love for you.
Taking us to present and future realms of highest ecstacy-
To know the essence of true love for infinity. Another chance for love.

When God Takes You For a Walk

When God takes you for a walk He will take you by the hand
He will guide you towards your destiny so that you may one day see His plans
Now walking is good for you, it stimulates the body and mind
But when you walk with God if becomes a spiritual journey in kind

Now walking requires that you don't always have both feet on the ground
It's a progressive process of moving forward journeying abound
But when God takes you for a walk you need to comprehend
That He is working in the life of all children, women and men
God does not want you sitting down stagnant in your circumstances
He desires you move towards prosperity to go out and take chances
To use your time, your talents and your treasures all that to you God did give
He wants you to take a walk with Him and learn to spiritually live

God wants you to make an effort and be effective in your purpose for living
He wants you to be a good steward with all that to you He has given
To be focused with perseverance and not fall prey to distractions
To create a distance between you and all the devil's attractions
To be organized in your efforts, to step out of comfort zones
To come out of chaos and confusion
and see the love descending from the heavenly throne
God loves us in spite of ourselves and our sinful behaviour
He wants to order our steps like He did for His Son Jesus our Saviour
Now God works in stages and it might be a twelve step plan
He just wants us to comprehend that He is the Great I Am

So when God takes you for a walk it won't be a stroll in the park
He wants to move you out of negativity into His light and out of the dark
Yes there will be necessary pain, trials and tribulations as well
But when God takes you for a walk you will miss that exit that leads to hell
