Dirt

Look
What is
the matter
With me
I'm not
Myself
my brain
Is scattered
it's splattered
Like a
shattered mirror
Anything
that's ever mattered
Has left
me here
To deal with
My own fear
I climb
the ladder
Because the
wheel won't steer
Please do
I go slow
Do I wait
right here
Please tell me
How high
does this go
I can't hang
on anymore
I feel myself slipping
Wake up
on the floor
I must be tripping
But
i'm not sure
I'm alert but
My concern
Is dispersed
That I'm sure
Is a lesson learned
In life ya
deal with love
And ya deal
with hurt
You think twice
About situations that
Might put
you in dirt
I'm not playin
Tables turnt
Ya ass
gets burnt
Cocaine white as
Kobane Kurt
Brains won't stay
When a 12 GA
Blow em up
Like fireworks
Drugs and booze
Sex and candy
Pirex and brandy
Are awful handy
When you
can't withstand it
Gotta gas up
and expand it
Cloud 9 can cram it
I'm on a different planet
No I'm not stranded
I'm just not standin
Medication granted
Sedated feelings roll
Over everything I've known
See I know
I've felt alone
I've seen the snow
The grass won't grow
If the weeds take over
Where the flowers go
Showers of hope
The Air smells of roses
The towers doors
Won't  open
Theve permanently closed em
The wind is blowin
Storms like clothin
Like a scar that bust open
A volcanic eruption
Some days i can't even function
It's the drugs that
Seduct me
Time spins
I have no luck see
What gives
Maybe if I
Drift off then
I'll be ok
Do u know
can anybody
Show me the way
Because the
darkness is
Around the way
The lights
fading away
I'm so tired
of feeling
This way
day after day
Wired but
won't play
Inspired but
colors grey
Happy goes away
Then it begins to rain
Man
What happened to me
Where'd I run to
Been spun around
So much
Like a gun that's
Trigger is stuck
What the
 is up
In my world
The sky is down
the ground
is up
Sounds profound
But it
astounds me like
I'm struck...
By a bolt
Of lightning
Something
so frighting
Can be
so inspiring
Snow can't be firey
So 6 ft below

Ignorance Is Bliss

standin on a corner he looks up to the sky
his phone rings as he steps into his ride
no time to think
when it rings its because do's on the other side
red and blue
panicked, frozen like a mannequin
flashing lights he catches on the other side of his panaoramic view
wondering if its for him
then realize it just the paramedics crew heading to what'll never make it on the 11' o clock news
paranoid
wonderin if he ever got caught by the blue, what he would do
like i siad no time for that,
rent to pay
with nothing on the dinner plate
this time next week, he just may be sleeping in his back seat.
no one to comfort but southern comfort
good guy just on the wrong side
misguided when life put him on the sideline
no one to guide him right
but his mind
while he walked on the wild side of the life many choose not to sight
turn a blind eye
to what they dont see as right, but i guess thats just life
a pool of water overflows the bath tub because his own foot
covers the drain
you paved what you walk on today
if you ever wanna live better
dont be the reason why your seasons never change

seeing nothing but rain in his plain
consumed by the pain that rarely escapes from him
an apiphany hits him
a bit delayed but soon to be appraised
he wants out but never knew how
he tryed callin his father
but that man diddnt even bother
he never really fathered him to begin with.
so it really wasnt something he cared to level with
learned his lesson, way back when
your just getting the message
considering how long its been
he thought redemption would have been ready for collection
still theres a long way to go

aint it beautiful?
how bliss ignorance is?

remembering the time he showed his report card to his mother
and how happy she was
tellin him he was bound for anything he set his sights on
but to always tell right from wong
at that moment. curtains closing
its 3am
witching hour for the superstitious
but an hour of power for a man to put stitches to his scars
pick himself up off the ground
head to the lost and found
just to find everything that made him who he was
before what is now

ignorance is bliss
an he knows that now

Dreams of Zydeco

I've been up a bit and down
a bit and hung around
in river towns, when glory days
and gamblin' boats were beauty to behold;
long and sleek with shapely curves
and ripe just like a lady
in the bloomin' blush of prime.

Standin' high n' mighty.......she
was glidin' through the water,
lookin' every bit a woman,
feelin' fancy-free and proud.
A sacred shroud a-movin'
on the Mississippi highway,
shinning like a diamond,
in the moonlight headin' south.

Been livin' on the river most
my life. I've seen bout' everything
the river lets you see.
Winona, Minnesota, south
to Memphis, Tennessee.
Down to Shrievport, Lousianna, where
shrimpers float their bayou boats
and freighters sail the sea.

Nawlin's cajun cookin
be my comfort company,
along with Creole women
givin' spice of life to me.
The dancin' bands play  Zydeco
and sing about the legendary
swamp-witch history.

The river women love me
and I tell you this I know
'cause up and down the river, river
women tell me so.
Spent my gambin' days in Natchez,
Mississippi, don't ya see,
where fine up-standin' ladies
mixed with riff-raff just like me.
Had a time or two of trouble, but
young men with a temper
can test trouble easily.
I spent some time from livin'
doin' labor for the man,
but when my time was over
and the man had cut me loose,
I left my youth behind me
and my river life began.

Born in Chauvin, Lousianna,
back in nineteen forty-three,
a bayou boy who found his joy,
dreamin' dreams of river queens,
and hopin' glory days were on their way
so he could walk the river block
and smell the rare and richer air
of up-north Baton Rouge.
Then gaze and praise her majesty;
the lady, Mississippi, flowin' south into the sea.

With cajun music ragin'
in my bones of 16 years;
and fantasies of youthful truth
now burnin' in my soul,
I left my home in Chauvin,
on my way to Baton Rouge,
to search the Mississippi for my dreams of Zydeco.

Heard It

I was in clique

We had everything we wanted and was lovin it

But then one night I got really sick

And death I barely missed

So I said to myself I’ve had enough of this

I decided to quit

But then I thought about who was the leader of my clique

It was the devil and he wasn’t havin it

So he had his people watchin me closely

‘Cause he already knew who I was about to go see

I went to church and the spirits followed me in

The only thing I want is be freed from this life of sin

So they started trippin and grabbin, kickin and stabbin

Fillin my head with voices wantin me to make the wrong choices

But I don’t wanna go back

So I got down on my knees

And started beggin Lord please

Don’t let me go back to where I was

When I was drinkin and lookin for a quick buzz

I felt you when I was on the corner sellin drugs

When I was pimpin and low-ridin with the thugs

But I changed all for you because

There’s now a difference between where I am and where I was

So the word got back to who I thought was the boss

He said “get her back, no matter what the cost”

But little did he know the old me was lost

And the only place you’ll find it is on the old rugged cross

So the “boss” is now in a total mess

Hatin every minute that I was getting blessed

And then it happened…

I died

What’s goin on? I wasn’t ready to leave

But I gotta remember every thing works out for those who believe

It was really quiet as I stepped up on the platform

And as I lifted my head the person standin there was the Lord

With Jesus at His right and the Holy Spirit on His left

Let me just be real and say I was a nervous wreck

The judgment didn’t take longer than a minute

They had reached a verdict

GUILTY…

A big smile went across my face when I heard it

He said “Well done my good and faithful servant”

Premium Member I Just Need the Woman Standin In Front of Me

Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah

There’s too much thinking going on in my head
I need to try something different instead
Get myself to move on
Don't think I’m too far-gone
You made me aware right under this tree
To stop wasting time on my current spree
Learn to enjoy what’s right in front of me

Looking for the one isn’t all fun
Thought it was fun drinking every day
Know it’s cliché
But it doesn't pay..
All I know
The trouble is
I don't want a woman to save me
What I need is standin’ right in front of me
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah
I just need the woman standin’ in front of me
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah

Life's so good every day I can see
Something wonderful lookin’ back at me
Don't really know how
But I embraced the now
Every moment missed is something great
It’s right in front of us, have a little faith
Come-on, don't’ make life too tough
Take a moment to enjoy, it’s really great stuff
It’s great stuff

Looking for the one isn’t all fun
Thought it was fun drinking every day
Know it’s cliché
But it doesn't pay..
All I know
The trouble is
I don't want a woman to save me
What I need is standin’ right in front of me
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah

She’s standin’ right in front of me..
Going to try
To be the best me I can be
And know the reason why
All my life

Looking for the one isn’t all fun
Thought it was fun drinking every day
I Know it’s cliché
But it doesn't pay...
All I know
The trouble is
I don't want a woman to save me
What I need is standin’ right in front of me
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah

Premium Member Near North Side--

Holy
Holy
Rats coming from under my bed;
With the pieces of dried out day old bread;
Near North side poorly holy, holy and poorly
In the ghetto tho, there’s beatings within;
Vandalism's, burglaries, drug use and gambling;
Everyone fishy, everyone wishing
For the revitalization's…
In the 20’s used to be nice
In the 30’s used to be nice
In the 40’s used to be nice
In the 50’s and early sixties used to be nice
Riots, burning houses, vandalism's of business not once but twice
Blacks mad at the whites no more pride
In the Near North Side

In this ghetto there’s bearings within;
Bear faced people standing in line;
Police have little children standin in those lines;
Poorly, poor, hurting jobless
Hungry discouraged unemployment high
Nothing, hardly enough food to eat
Wonder bread is really “wonder bread”
Oily commodity peanut butter free;
Everybody fears, little babies tears;
Little baby in the crib waits for mother to give him love;
While daddy in them streets hustling, mistreating his Thursday lover;
Dangers it lies everywhere;
It’s not even save to breath the air;
Everybody fears grandma in tears;
Near North side poorly holy, holy poorly
We people here we are all alone and lonely;
Never doing the President we got he’s a phony
Children have more fun seeing bad guys win;
While sunning under the sun running from policemen’s guns
Omaha town, near North side nowhere bound;
Near North side you can bum a ride;
Near North side you rent a guide;
Omaha town near North side nowhere found
Where the people are fed up
In Omaha’s
Near North Side

Ryl

Steadily these pages turn ,but im slave to no clock.
 Time has a wage, but that wont make me stop.b
 Into the fast life, no look before i hop,
 Deathsdoor no stranger, it feels good to knock,
 No key to the door, so i just pick the lock,
 Gotta get through these trenches, before the beat drops,
 Me next to the grim reaper, standin on top,
 Look to the bottom, just lines of chalk,
 Get your ass back, once i start i dont stop,
 Get what you need , we all need to get off,
 We live in bad dreams , tears wipe with a cloth,
 The future is uncertain, to love is a loss,
 Dobyou know freedom or is obsession your boss,
 We lose so much, going past lines we dont wanna cross,
 So if laughter becomes pain, is worth the cost,
 Go where i want , never get lost
 Ice flows through these veins, my heart made of frost,
 I just gotta get past this pain, then i can push on the nas,
 Sane is insane, to thise outside the box,
 My behaivor needs tamed , but this just dont pause,
 Learn from the past or more loss is what you cause,
 Cant always go fast we need rest for our paws,
 Euphoria never lasts its one of natures laws,
 Storms in the wind , dont get closed in its jaws,
 Better paddle your fins, or into the whirlpool youll be drawn,
 Just keep truth in your sight , so you can fix any flaw,
 Awareness of self is learnt its not taught
 If driven by wealth, if love is not saught,
 Why. Keep doin whats wrong, everyone eventually get caught,
 Always sing your own song, control you own plot ,
 Wrong for so long you may regret what you baught
