September 17 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Daniel 6-8
Key Verse – Daniel 6:26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
FAITH IN GOD WHO IS THE LIVING LORD
God is the living Lord and our Father Almighty
Who upholds our faith by His dominion’s majesty
For us to behold His greatness-stability
As we stay in His will of perfect certainty.
God is the living Lord and our revival-flame
Who settles our faith by His truth’s claim
For us to serve Him without deceit’s blame
As we prevail in His stewardship, despite physically lame.
God is the living Lord and our Saviour
Who establishes our faith by His redemption’s fervour
For us to testify about His lovingkindness-savour
As we thank His grace of mercy’s favour.
God is the living Lord and our blessing source
Who sustains our faith by His provision’s resource
For us to share His goodness in reaching-out course
As we praise His name along His compassion-force.
God is the living Lord and our divine light
Who illumines our faith by His counselling delight
For us to continue doing what is always right
As we strive in His holiness with prayerful might.
God is the living Lord and our guiding hand
Who directs our faith by His Scriptural command
For us to triumph over worldly challenging demand
As we focus on His plan upon our commitment-stand.
God is the living Lord and our protective fortress
Who guards our faith by His power from falsity’s distress
For us to overcome attacking weariness-stress
As we cling to His mercy to win against tempter or temptress.

Here on the first day
Of a plush new year,
Feel a fine pulse play
As new light endears.
Rain in the dawn light
Spreads a misty feel,
Sleep with dreamy sights
As the new year spills.
Sun and rain speed trance
As drowsy morn sifts,
Awake in blur glance
To feel rest uplift.
Day moves crisp tempo
As coffee brew streams,
New Year's Day gumbo
Spreads a feisty theme.
Catch-up with lunch trip
On a social call,
Easy laughter grips
Such pleasant footfalls.
Then home bound car ride
As sleepy eyes droop,
Hot weather takes side
In somnolent scoop.
Lazy siesta moods
Cruise with drowsy air,
Sleepy dreams for food
In a crouching flair.
Late evening stroll
For meal takeaway,
Savour food fare toll
As tastebuds mint play.
Jazz and fest frame peak
In a pleasant feel,
Feast as goodies speak
As eats now reveal.
Late night drizzle
As the first day speeds,
Deep silence sizzles
As a new day seeds.

My House - Life
My house- life is constructed
with bricks of dignity and self esteem.
Enthusiastic emotion has erected
columns of uprightness.
Perdurable passion has completed
pearly painting.
Fortune favours through
wide window.
Destiny forces foisting glass ceiling.
Phrenetic frustrations and pococurante stagnancy
to escape through back door.
Open terrace to savour
lustrous lavender love in liberation
and dinkum dreamy desires to desseminate.

God directs us toward His mission-work through His command
While He ushers us by His prudent hand…
In obeying His mandate of sovereign demand
For our commitment to stand while building lives in the promised land.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His light
While He revives us by His powerful might…
In declaring His Gospel with supplication plight
For our salvation to glow along soulwinning delight.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His favour
While He besieges us by His compassionate savour…
In sharing His love of kindness’ fervour
For our testimony to shine midst holy endeavour.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His wisdom
While He teaches us by His truthful freedom…
In learning from His Word about righteousness’ kingdom
For our Bible study to advance scriptural Christendom.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His instruction
While He guides us by His prudent action…
In fulfilling His desire for the Great Commission’s function
For our faith to produce fruits of joyful church-participation.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His fellowship
While He meets us by His friendly partnership…
In staying in His will of gracious leadership
For our worship to show gladness in faithful stewardship.
God directs us toward His mission-work through His blessing
While He satisfies us by His bountiful enforcing…
In enjoying His provisions around prayerful* fencing
For our service to support diligent giving-offering increasing.
*Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Where I Make
When the weekend comes, this is where I make,
With camping gear, canoeing on the lake,
Dipping the paddle as I contemplate.
Between the banks and shores of rocks and trees,
Breathing in fresh air, relaxing and fishing,
Just enjoying nature’s stress therapy.
The sun’s rays glare down to redden my skin,
But the water soothes the burn when I swim
In the birthday suit that I was born in.
Near to day’s end, I erect my shelter
And gather kindling to start a fire
And savour the smell of cooking odours.
With wood burning and the night descending,
I listen to loons laughing and wailing
And the male frogs croaking during mating.
Old Sol appears much larger as it dips
And even bigger at dawn when it lifts.
Inside my sleeping bag to sleep I drift,
And tomorrow will continue my trip.
February 8 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Leviticus 22-23

FAITH IN GOD WHO DELIGHTS

By His supply-bountifulness
As He increases our service-productiveness

By His redemption-work that is always glowing
As He establishes our labour of well-doing
Along His perpetual joy for our gladness, always overflowing.

By His Word in His authority
As He guards our conviction against doubt’s infirmity
Along His wisdom for our doctrine against fallibility.

By His commandments for our obedience, smelling with sweet savour
As He leads our steps toward His favour
Along His approval for our devotion to Him, our Lord and Saviour.

To be fair to kids, greetings still arrive
With customary call on a birthday
That keeps the edgy memories alive,
Photo albums dust laden idly lay,
Alive stays once-in-a-while rare visit
That leaner gets, time passing bit by bit.
A Spartan house, whence kids left bit by bit,
Now spacious looks with few and far visit,
A needless treat for a death-weary old.
Parents do know, kids have their life to live,
Know too, today's youth is on endless drive,
Not easy for them to fit the new mould.
Peace of grey years rest on fitting this mould,
No fledglings back to nestling homes return,
No birds nor beasts are known to care for old,
The old for no return-favour should yearn
Children that take parental grace given,
Know not, one day they’d see a setting sun--
They that are lost in joys of rising sun,
The old has to give space to grown up son,
Love for love's sake and hope for no return,
Grin and bear till comes the call from heaven.
Till then let old their solitude savour,
Love's no love, wanting a return favour.
It’s not favour, kids’ moral behaviour,
If they can’t hearken to heart, let them head.
Till then let the old, memories savour,
Greet greeting cards, chew on visits once made--
A proof enough, the kids care for them still,
Is not doubt better than a bitter pill?
The lonely hearts live on a hope-made pill
Like farmers staring blank at rainless clouds,
Frustrations tied down by mind-made rope still
And memories wrapt like dead-body shrouds,
For, a hope’s better than frustrating proof,
Good to dream than lie under leaking roof,
Yea, better lonely than a leaking roof,
Far better still than furniture to be
O in an unknown land across the sea.

Sestina | 02.06.2012 | father, heart, loneliness, mother, parents
Note: Written on Fathers' Day (17th June). This sestina avoids intricate patterns of repetition of first stanza’s six end-words in a specific rotating pattern: (1-2-3-4-5-6) of the first stanza to (6-1-5-2-4-3) in the second and so forth. Sestina does not normally rhyme. But this one does though randomly. And the last word/s of the preceding stanza is repeated in the next.
He's grown up now,
Has become a little man,
Time for some independence,
Yet, there is that longing...
to be a little one again,
to be the centre of attention,
to be fed by his mother,
to be safe within the four walls of home...
He doesn't want to grow up so fast,
Not yet...
He wishes to savour his freedom
for some more time,
He wishes to go back to playing all the time
with no restraints,
At the same time, he also wishes to make new friends
in his new school...
With conflicting feelings in his heart,
He steps into this new adventure,
this new phase -
The school phase.
four years old and she was already looking for a Higher Power
her parents were bookworms and she piled one onto another
Hemingway and Nietzsche firmly stacked with Sartre and Poe
the latter she thought was misspelt because of Winnie the bear
a tower of language and words reaching to her own little heaven
she put on her boots and stood tip toed in full stretch at the altar
on which jars and packets were stacked ready for celebrations
Quality Street Cadbury marshmallows and lush candy of all sorts
paradise on the table and no one else to spoil the spiritual feast
the days were when children were still allowed chocolate cigarettes
her heart lit up and she smacked lips and taste buds in delight
in the knowledge that devout worship came in many tasty forms
worldly and openminded she felt that one God was never enough
believed firmly in gummy sharks dating toffee dolphins in church and
was especially attracted to biting off chunks of Fisherman’s friends
‘My God’she chanted and added ‘Salem Alaikum’ for her Muslim pals
there was even a fat trumpeting elephant in celebration of Ganesh
and to top it all a almond coated devil with pitchfork ready to savour
the table was high but the powers of be knew her sweet little longing
no tooth for a tooth but she was aware than not one god is the best
