Premium Member Twits Terrible Nitwits

past knoxville and idaho city there are a pair of adorable nitwits.
townspeople refer to them as kooky oddballs, a couple of twits.
their name is easy to learn. she is backward ditz; he is fritz.
brown eyes are lop-sided, their glances can be the pits.

watch out! cautions their neighbor, they will bore you to bits.
they showed up one day unexpectedly during a neighboring blitz.
I heard they were parisians, but another told me they are brits.
fritz can do a weird almost-hand-stand, and ditz does the splits.

twits do not put on airs; neither abides by the ritz or any glitz.
they eat bland foods like porridge, oatmeal, and plain grits.
calico cats come to them all the time, presenting them with kits.
their fighting is so common, their eyes are swollen to slits.

fritz likes to knit, so their house is full of junk that he knits.
afghans, scarves, hats, potholders, and unusable oven mitts.
ditz does not wash her hair, so it is full of lice, bugs and nits.
also have zits, and they have performed some really weird skits.

Good Night Irene, Sweet Dreams

We live in a time of two competing visions;
The creation myths of sudden and gradual change,
Or monotheism’s creationism on one hand
And scientific materialism’s evolution the other.

Both spring from the same source
Of course,
The human mind in general
And Eastern Mediterranean cultures in particular.

In this way they are part of the same continuum
Steps along a single ascending path,
Not actually mutually exclusive
But still wildly at odds.

But what about a third option,
The option of a changeless nature?
This is the view from outside of time and mind
Which being changeless has consistency on its side.

This is the door that leads to a holographic universe,
The matrix of a dream within a dream within a dream…
Being dreamed by who knows who
Who just happens to go by the name, me and you.

Really weird sh*t you say,
But as they also say, truth is often
Stranger than fiction
And it’s clear the two main competing myths are fiction.

So there it is, a 21st century view of Hegel’s dialectic
Thesis, antithesis and synthesis played out in real time
Simultaneously seeming, but actually existing
Only in the timeless now.

An enigma wrapped in a metaphor
Pretending to be a mystery, or something like that
Waiting for the dreamer to go back to sleep
So the dream can get back to the business of unfolding.

It's such an interesting thought
what'll people say when I'm gone
their thoughts about me when here
they didn't feel that it was on

So let's say I'm gone to a higher abode
then folk can be free to speak their mind
some would think he was really weird
spoke very little words were hard to find

Hopefully, they were others different
think this gulf was patient and kind
though he liked being alone also too
but most folks looked as if blind

All recognised that this guy had faith
a keen Bible lover of God's truth
had a great desire to walk with God
found often in his reader's booth

Hopefully, these voices cast echoes
of the person, I truly desired to show
may I've been an encouragement to some
aid them to follow Jesus onward and grow

They're Cute At This Age

subtitled: The Bolder Boys (rivals of The Golden Girls)
written for a word bank contest - twenty really weird ones

Two graying seniors with appalling chimera
bantering back and forth - mental meandering.
Be it mirage or dreams from another era -
they diminish the other's philandering.

Fanfaronade - from high school boys I would expect
now it re-appears in quite perceptible measures
from our retired magistrate whom I quite suspect
of erroneous accounts of addled pleasures.

While his cohort, an erratic ex-engineer
relates with brazen gibberish his tete a tetes.
At one time more clear and swift of eye and ear,
on blogs they ordain to publish communiqués.

I have found no diffidence which they jeopardize
making harmless though delectable advances,
Noted but honest attempts to digitize
their forte, their skill in dubious romances.

I offered an honorarium of great size
for the first one who would divest his florid page
of any contentious items - to sanitize. .
Gaga girlfriends grin and gush. They're cute at this age.

Premium Member A Conversation With Harry Dresden

Mr. Dresden, my name is Joshua Aaronson.

How can I help you Mr. Aaronson? How did you find me?

My wife Chloe goes to your brother's hair salon. Your brother Thomas said that you're a private detective with unusual abilities. My daughter Selene is missing.

Thomas is actually my half-brother, which is why our only resemblance is height. I presume you've already been to the police. Tell me about your daughter and when she disappeared.

Selene just turned seven. She's a little shy around strangers by nature. She's about this tall and weighs about 55 pounds. Her hair and eye color are like mine, and her hair is usually braided reaching the middle of her back. She disappeared last Saturday night after we put her to bed, sometime between 8:00 and 9:45 - I usually check on her around then before I go to bed. All the doors were locked and deadbolted. Something that was really weird was that there was a noxious smell in Selene's room, sort of like the smell of just-lit matches mixed with rotting compost. The police couldn't find anything, none of my neighbors saw or heard anything. That sign on the door that says "WIZARD". Is that for real?

I'll take your case. I'll need to visit her room, and need to borrow some objects that Selene is is frequent contact with, like favorite clothes or a teddy bear.

[Harry Dresden is the protagonist in the series of books The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Thomas is a White Court Vampire allied with Dresden].

Paranoid's Got Nothing On Me, But Freedom To Ask The Tooth Faerie About The Change...

Speak of the dental
A really weird visit to the pain and philosophy chair
Sparkles and earned stars, for another purpose under the stars
Has no choice, but to know how a hungry mouth has a sigh to fare

Seek and you shall find, open and say aaahhh, a new pain in the ass that can
With the emphasis of numbness and hurry, to catch a tooth's pride
In the act of hurt and fate, to get rid of a chance encounter with mysteries man?
Live and let live say I, the fate you are composing is a speed that begins to cry

Angels and hosts of decisions to appear, and dread the coming road to oblivion
Time in retrospect for faster control, the strength to fashion is hate's judgment
Moving so fast and ready to confirm itself a problem, of a worldly season of lies and living
Coming and going in joy and purpose, to help the speed of truth pass by alet

So, mouthful of possibility...
What has the moment of pride to come clean?
Like forever in a sanitary dish, the future has named us a real dizziness
Mumble, mumble spit in trouble, the truth of my pain on the double, is your the devil mean...

So dentist of truth, why the little white lie?
Seemingly the voice of me to prove, the lie of my fascination is your bad breath
Liberty, staunchness, sanity, sharing and wholesomeness; to profess a prudent crime
Having one less tooth, is my soul desire to get rid of a curious lie in the face of death?

Premium Member Santa's Little Helper

Mommy! Mommy! I had the sweetest dream last night!
I dreamed I was Santa's helper and it gave me such a fright!
Mommy! Mommy! Did you know that reindeer can really fly?
I know, Mommy, 'cause he let me guide them thro' the sky!

And another thing, Mommy, that I thought was really weird.
I wore a red suit, and guess what? I grew a fluffy beard!
I visited the North Pole, met Mrs. Claus and all the elves,
And helped fill the sleigh with toys from Santa's shelves!

Blitzen, Rudolph and their friends flew swiftly thro' the air,
And, Mommy, Santa was so jolly with so much love to share!
We visited children in places I had never heard of before.
The world is so pretty, Mommy, but so much is torn by war.

When we slid down the chimneys, we always found a treat.
There was milk to sip and dozens of ginger snaps to eat!
Santa had a gift for every boy and girl all about the earth,
And, Mommy, we even stopped at the place of Jesus' birth!

Santa showed me kids suffering poverty, hunger and disease.
Mommy, when I'm big I'll be a Santa to care for such as these.
There'll always be a Santa to bring to their eyes a gleam.
When I grow old I'll relive and share with them this dream!

Premium Member A Curious Drunk

A drunk has a question
for the bartender

"Hey!! Whazzup mah man!?

And Oh, have you been so drunk out of yo

stuff ya thought were weird
like blaqbovyitch!! and yestrusri!!
to someone you were talking to
but they weren't weird after all
but then ya go and make it
weird by tryna make sense,
when ya made sense
in da first place;confusing the hell
outta yoself, like huh?
wondering "blacka blacka Whoa?"
and dat dude and dat moment
got really weird, real fast?
Neither have I. You? Is dat true?"

Bartender: Huh? That's it. No more drinks for you. I'm calling you a cab.

I woke up and forgot my password.
Everything seems back-assword.
It must be somewhere, but mislaid,
among a paper mountain, I'm afraid.
Something's really weird and strange.
Has my brain been rearranged?
As this odd feeling lingers,
I can't even feel my fingers,
and while my digits seem fat and numb,
they won't even oppose my thumb.
My vision's blurry and I feel weak.
When I open up my mouth to speak,
instead of meaningful words,
out flies butterflies and birds.
Even when I try to scream
like a kettle blowing steam,
there is not a single sound -
just a silence that's profound.
The sun looks more green than yellow,
and the ground is made of jello.
I'm not sure who I am.
Can you tell me my name?
I was someone when I went to bed.
Maybe, now I'm somebody else instead.
Am I gone?  Will I be missed?
Or do I not even exist?
I wish I knew where I reside -
once again, "Password Denied".
Consider this an SOS.

Premium Member What Comes First

The very first poem of the new year
Should it be full of good cheer
Or should it make one shed a tear

How about something really weird
Or scary, about stuff we fear
A bit tawdry perhaps, to make one leer

Of course, there's the topic to be chosen
Perchance Winter and all things frozen
Or maybe, to fast forward to Spring
'Light, gentle breezes' have a poetic ring

Then there's the matter of the poem's style
Rhymes like this one often bring a smile
But free verse is in these days, as are haikus
   Limericks, couplets, senryus and monokus

And last, but certainly not least
An important point to keep in mind
Is that as a poet, I should be kind
   Enough to my dear readers
To get to the point without further delay
~ If, in fact, I've anything left to say
