Santa's Little Helper
Mommy! Mommy! I had the sweetest dream last night!
I dreamed I was Santa's helper and it gave me such a fright!
Mommy! Mommy! Did you know that reindeer can really fly?
I know, Mommy, 'cause he let me guide them thro' the sky!
And another thing, Mommy, that I thought was really weird.
I wore a red suit, and guess what? I grew a fluffy beard!
I visited the North Pole, met Mrs. Claus and all the elves,
And helped fill the sleigh with toys from Santa's shelves!
Blitzen, Rudolph and their friends flew swiftly thro' the air,
And, Mommy, Santa was so jolly with so much love to share!
We visited children in places I had never heard of before.
The world is so pretty, Mommy, but so much is torn by war.
When we slid down the chimneys, we always found a treat.
There was milk to sip and dozens of ginger snaps to eat!
Santa had a gift for every boy and girl all about the earth,
And, Mommy, we even stopped at the place of Jesus' birth!
Santa showed me kids suffering poverty, hunger and disease.
Mommy, when I'm big I'll be a Santa to care for such as these.
There'll always be a Santa to bring to their eyes a gleam.
When I grow old I'll relive and share with them this dream!
