The Christian way is no easy task
God's call is a call to fully endure
many obstacles have to be overcome
but victory's assured for God is sure

A true Christian shows real godliness
having deep humility to put others first
denying one's self have no worldly want
only God fills one with spiritual thirst

This thirst clearly is heaven sent
producing eternal kingdom affection
to renounce the world's pleasures
so give the Lord full attention

God sends his spirit in one's heart
producing His character to bless
living holy lives to give Him glory
putting on our gifted godly dress

So live truly for God alone
display yourself to be holy true
brings pleasure to God our Lord
eternal always forever to do

('If our common life is not a common course of humility, self-denial, renunciation of the world, poverty of spirit and heavenly affection, we do not live the lives of Christians.')
- William Law.- (1686-1761) 'A serious call to a devout and holy life.'

Benched

Sitting on this bench For an entire season Committed no errors No strikeouts No sure what`s the reason Made love to the manager`s daughter In the dugout Before the game Maybe this is the answer Where I should be putting the blame Thought I hit a home run When I heard her scream Always knew You were the best on the team Seems the old man Was in earshot of this Told me Your benched For going beyond the first kiss Well I guess There is always next year No more homeruns in the dugout When the old man is near

Premium Member Secret To Writing Good Poetry

What's needed to write good poetry
A vivid imagination and flair
General knowledge and a good vocabulary
Much love and you're almost there

A sense of humour is also important
Each is unique as they say
Adding their own personality to verse
Helps stay ahead of the fray

There's no magic potion one can take
Poetry come from within
There's no mistaking it, you'll surely know
When accolades start pouring in

The thrill you get when someone applauds
It's so very hard to describe
Over the moon is one way of putting it
Feel like you've finally arrived

What's really needed to write good poetry
Dedication, dedication, dedication
A burning desire and a passion for writing
A passion without hesitation

Life As a Ghost

I thought maybe I can get through this
by putting my thoughts to rhyme
maybe doing so will bring me some clarity
a method to ease and help focus my mind.
Here goes.........

If this is life I don't want it
If this is life count me out
If this is life I don't want it
I just want to scream and shout

I dream of petrol and lighters
Of Trains Bridges and Canals
Of ropes and chains and hanging
But these dreams have all come from hell

They seem to offer a way out
a way out when all else seems lost
a way to bring peace and silence
but a way with an ultimate cost

A failure in life is my reason
A failure in dreams and hope
A failure to fit in society
A failure of trying to cope

I can imagine the comments you're all writing
quoting of others who are all worse off
and maybe in reality I am guilty
but in my confused mind I am not

Its hard to write down my feelings
to post them and put them on show
You'll all think He's seeking attention
you may be right I don't know.

But how else can I try to fight this
of feeling so down and so low
Since trying on my own is a failure
maybe I should give up and just go.

All that I know is I hate this
I just want to stop and get off
to take away my perceived pressures
to bring it all to a stop

But I guess I will just turn over
and try to return to my sleep
where worlds seem oh so much better
a place where I rarely weep

Only time will tell if its successful
that's if I have the balls to post
or maybe I will just turn over
and return to my life as a ghost.

Premium Member Sad Surprise

In darkness an old hand searches the light
To dispel dim doubt and fears of the night,
She does not recall the value of gold
Nor does she recollect tales of years old.

Her eyes are dim clear as slow-moving streams
Where rays of fading hope and wonder teems,
They seek the truth within a human face
Before the world marks a sorrowful trace.

A creaking sound rings out across the yard,
Frightening her heart, putting her on guard,
She tries to source a strength that can`t be named
Sending hollow pride to the realm of shame.

Now she can sense the smash of window panes,
Awhile, she eyes a man dressed in black, plain,
Penetrating inside through the window,
With his eyes emitting a frightful glow.

Frightened, but still holding her spirit tall,
With her eyes shrinking like a flattened ball,
She implores with an air of innocence
For the man not to burden his conscience.

“My son, take what you wish, but don`t harm me,
That`s my plea,” she utters, feeling unfree,
“I am on my way to leaving the world,
Anytime my days may stop to unfurl.”

The man felt sad at the old lady`s plight,
He`d called at the house to steal with delight,
He had conceived it as tough enterprise,
But turned out as a sorrowful surprise.

“Auntie, your words have taught me a lesson,
To change my life, you`ve given me reasons,’
He said, ” the loudest voice will fade to grey
While gentle trust will ever find its way.”

“The grandiose castles we build with care
Are soon turned to dust by the open air,
For what is pure ever remains the same,
The flicker of a silent steady flame.”

“You are right, my son,” said the old lady,
“Even iron doors, with time turns shady,
In the end we`ll all kiss the dusty ground,
Where the joys of peace is finally found.”

“Thank you auntie, I`ve learnt my part to play
And let the burdens of life drift away,”
Said the man, “for in a new quiet start
Lies the real wisdom of a true heart.”

Protection vs Stolen

For a consecutive 6 weeks,
You helped a project of "putting the lipsticks on the pig".
Has the fence not damaged by the strangers,
We would not have worked together.
You helped keeping me safe from outsiders,
Prevent people invading into my living quarters,
But, you had stolen the key to my heart's locker,
Made me seeing the fence as a reminder.
Let it bleed inside my mind,
It hurt all days and nights,
Despite I have tried,
The pain and heartache have not ended.
Remember those dots I used,
They were exactly how I felt at the time,
But did not know you well enough to share my inner feelings,
Should never have those feelings in the first place.
It was never your false,
You did not encourage nor give me any wrong messages.
It was me who was so vulnerable,
Growed an affection and invested emotion feelings on you.
I never blamed you terminated our friendship,
If there was any of it.
However. I loathed you for disrespecting me and discriminating me being part of dirty system.

Battle Cry

As all light went out
I stood shaded in Grey,
hopes wings were clipped
and this heart wont obey

Suspended in life
with the drowning of fear,
putting fire in my bones
brings a power to bear

Gluing the wings
on letters and words,
setting them free
to find new worlds

Sowing the plains
in peace and love,
laying them out
for angels above

If reaching for stars
my legs give way,
I’ll open my mind
and fly anyway

Spitting in the face
of what they say,
having nowhere to go
I wont go away

Being greedy in
the grasping of time,
it slipped through my fingers
to touch the divine

Illuminated love
reached out for me,
then gifted with eyes
I had futures to see

All Life goes on
and lights are snuffed out,
death hides in shadows
of that I’ve no doubt

Granules of love
I’ve secretly hid,
dwelling in mind
with forever I’ll live

A formidable foe
I have become,
with a fight to the death
My kingdom will come

Sleep Well, Emily

Sleep well, Emily
on a soft pillow
resembling a willow
courting the starry sea...

And should a storm arrive,
I'll shut the windows,
and keep serenity alive
for the sake of precious dreams...

Sleep well, Emily
dreaming of August' breezes
when the gleaming waves
reflect a dark blue so pretty...

Covered by a transparent satin sheet color sapphire
softer than your own glowing skin,
your feminine curves induce an incredible desire
in the palpiting heart of this tempted man....

Sleep well, Emily
putting all thoughts to sleep,
unless passion arises an intense heat
to allow me to touch you softly...

And exploring our sexuality
without being ashamed of nudity,
we are those lovers seeking total darkness
into a place where there's deep tenderness....

Hope I'm not putting a big hex on myself
But till now I've had no serious medical problems
Don't know how many can say that at seventy-eight
But you can place me in the “fortunate” column

Haven't done anything out of the ordinary
Thinking maybe I inherited some very good genes
My whole family before me all lived to a ripe old age
So what's this guy... a can of baked beans!

Seven sisters all lived longer than eighty
A pattern seems to have been established here
Don't want to break the spell or cause any problems
I'll just motor along and have another beer

Don't think I'd like to be around at one hundred
Soiling my jockey and mumbling away
Just wheel me out to the back veranda in the sun
And forget me for a couple of days
