Finally They're on TV
By Franklin Price
8/4/2015
Finally they're on TV
Been waiting for so long
The presidential hopefuls
Are now where they belong
Too many to come all at once
Formats not all debate
Depends on popularity
On just how high they rate
The ones rated the lowest
Were seen first yesterday
We watched with expectations
To see what they would say
Was not all disappointment
They were given minutes five
To rise above the others
Or take a further dive
Each given their own questions
For which they had prepared
The boiler plated answers
Has got me more than scared
They did the political jitter bug
They did the song and dance
Sometimes was entertaining
For me was not romance
Perhaps the next round better
More will puff and spout
Hope some will make some honest sense
Not raise much further doubt
"THE BIRD CANNOT FLY"
No matter how hard he flaps his wings body won’t lift,
is it obesity or small wings?
He shouldn’t devour the food mother
fed him but do some exercise for flying,
worse yet,
he pecked on and bit siblings
in order to snatch all the food
the mother brought back causing them all to die;
his gluttonous appetite and cruel treatment made
him incapable of lifting his body in the air;
if a bird cannot fly, he is not a bird anymore
then, where to go and what to become to fly in the air.
"THE BIRD LOST SONG"
Although he had a beautiful voice
he drank sweet wines to have a more beautiful voice,
he smoked marijuana to have a more voluminous voice;
blinded by brilliant stage lights and fancy spots,
intoxicated from the shouts of fans, he ruined himself
in the tremendous popularity,
his fame made him arrogant, he fell into narcissism,
he jumped up and down on the stage and soared in the air
to tear down the floodlights hanging from the ceiling,
foolish enough to think that his feathers are brighter
more luminous than the floodlights; flapping his glittering wings,
he fell from the ceiling and was sucked into a bottomless pit.
"THE BIRD WITHOUT FEATHERS"
The starlight reflecting on a treetop is so beautiful
though he knew he couldn’t fly anymore, he stretched
open his old and infirm wings and flapped, looking at the sky,
to soar in the air; alas, Zeus’s thunderbolt struck him that moment.
His body was torn to pieces, his feathers were plucked away,
and because of all his cuts and bruised body, the remaining plumage
lost its splendorous colors; no matter how well he took care,
lost glossiness never to be restored, no matter how gently he combs,
his feathers fall out feebly;
when he looks back, he was a prisoner of vice
he was obsessed by insatiable lust,
the flower is so colorful
it smelled so sweet, he kept following
bewitched by the beauty of its alluring looks;
before he was aware of it, he got stuck in the mud, sunk into
the depth of vice; and though, he got out from mud just before
he was suffocated to death, his entire body was covered with
the scabs of evil,
the water flows, though he has no strength
to cross the river any more, it’s time to, he may be
washed away by the water, or dip himself in the water
to wash his scabs of evil out.
In the beginning
After what began and started out
as a bit of fun and the sheer love
and joy of it
With the simplest innocent of
motivations nothing else intended
Later it is then to becomes something
far more than a passing phase or hobby
You actually become both rich
and famous
So much so you become lost
drawn into the fame game trap
Surrounded by nodding yes men
sucking the very life from you only
out for what they can get
Until what started out as merely wanting
to be in a band and jam
Grew into wishing to be listened to
playing live and having fans singing
back along
And once that initial dream then
eventually became achieved
Why stop there next stop fame
and fortune
And when so to that dream as well
finally came to fruition
All they ever wanted then was no
longer to be heard
No longer to be popular for popularity
sake
People mostly say they like because they
do not want to be deemed uncool
But instead be thought of as an
artist able to experiment and
grow
Without the fear of faltering sale's
And being labeled by the critical
press
As being a sell out and being
told
Probably best they quit whilst they
are ahead
People are already beginning
to complain
Whatever they had is more or
less about gone
Bet they are only still doing it for the money
And besides apparently they have such
big ego's
They can't even stand to be in the
same room as each other anyway
No surprise is it any wonder why
their last album bombed
~Murder is Not Private Matter~
If a newborn born can be killed,
Then why not you or me?
What gives you or me the right to
end a life of a full grown baby?
You and I have a chance to fight
back or to run.
A newborn, NO!!....
They will never see the sun!
They must die!
We call it "choice" in the name of
a godless humanity.
Who think Darwin, created you
or me!
"Murder by choice, "what a perversion!
But we must save lions and squirrels?
Mon Dieu, what a twisted and sick
mental aberration.
Dedicated to all the unborn human
beings, scheduled for slaughter today.
And right, I expect no responses.
I speak for them. Nobody else will!
People may stop reading them.
Popularity alway~ any cost,
*You can find no-kill shelters for
pets in any town.
But a mother, like a Roman of
old,
Simply gives the abortionist:
A thumbs-down code.**

Panagiota Romios
Hot summers dry up the land
The dirt crumbles under the heaviness of disrespect
Fresh flowers adorn the land
Covering the uneven burial grounds
Overshadowed by privilege
What better way to claim superiority
By soiling the plantation they stand on
Ignorance crowds the air
Cast aside by vows of love
Tainting history with a wedding
The stories of black labour whitewashed into a picture of a bride in white
Covering the truths in a veil of fragility
Ironic how they use the innocence of a white wedding
To ink over history
A picture is worth a thousand words
A simple picture of a now conjoined family
Haunted by secrets of ownership
How the brides grandmother was once a girl
Who stood on this same plantation
Watching her parents become slave owners
A simple picture
Once innocent becomes a sinister backstory
A history haunted by the darkness of whiteness
Flower petals spread across the venue of black bones
Not to pay respect to those buried
But to honour love consummated on the grounds of black history
Smiling in pictures with a tainted memory
Plastered in magazines profiting off of slavery
But hey at least they gained popularity
Dedication to an Anonymous Poet
Brilliant, so very loving and
supportive as can any be!
Humble yet attacked and avoided?
As he knows too much classical poetry?
Yet, he's the captain of his own
poetic stars and ship!
Not here climbing the popularity tree.
Nor in contests will you find him.
No, most infrequently.
A most loving man, this poet be.
A master to learn much from, on
subjects, very deep.
I salute this poet, he knows life and has
overcome strife.
He wears a crown of poetic knowledge!
If only with such brilliance I could
pen!
Just grateful and very humbled,
To have him as my friend.
With appreciation and respect,
Panagiota Romios
"I put on for my city" is the latest hip hop song
it tells about what one represents and from where one belongs
the first artist raps about his material possessions
the second one pontificates on his personal obsessions
the third one emphasizes his popularity
and the last one brags about his prosperity
but "I put on for my city" fails to say one little thing
they never mention the city nor the people who gave them everything
to put on for one's city is about representing positively
by your words and actions what you have done for your community
it's not just about you but what you have done for others
it's about putting on to pay forward your fellow sisters and brothers
a Centurion one day asked Jesus for a little help
he said his trusted servant was suffering from a case of bad health
he himself had some authority over many soldiers and servants
he had the respect of many whom to him were trusted and deserving
but he humbled himself before Jesus in a manner most persistent
he went to the Messiah and pleaded for His divine assistance
he heard his servant's cry and knew he could do no other
but to seek out the Lord Christ in order to help out a brother
he put on for his city for his servant he did represent
he put the needs of others before his own, he did what was decent
he sought out the Divine and appealed to the Lord our God
for he knew with a true faith he'd be given the desires of his heart
he sought out the Divine and with God foremost on his mind
he aroused the interest of the Son and the Father blessed him in kind
just don't treat the Lord Jesus like a tire that's a spare
when you only call on Him in times of your despair
and don't treat the Lord God like He's doing you a favor
for He knows what's in your heart and is aware of your behavior
he put on for his servant and to the Savior he did appeal
that Centurion had a true belief that was the real deal
and then Jesus the Christ with His authority and with His power
told that Centurion to "go" and it was done at that very hour
to put on for your city to represent the Lord our God
to put on for the kingdom with righteousness in your heart
Born as Lesley Sue Goldstein in New York City,
she grew up to be famous in Tenafly, New Jersey.
Leslie achieved great success in the music scene,
with her hit song “It’s My Party” at age sixteen.
Other hits include “Judy’s Turn to Cry” and “You Don’t Own Me”.
They were followed with “She’s a Fool” and “Summer and Sandy”.
She has had a life of “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows”.
After all these years, her popularity still grows.
She was quite a famous singer in her day.
Record producer Quincy Jones showed her the way.
Her career as a songwriter continues today.

We think we are
what we do?
How grossly untrue!
We strive to be the top
dog?
I call that, egotistical,
“brain fog.”
Be a brother or sister
to another.
They do not need a boss
nor a mother.
Keep your credentials to
yourself.
Arrogance belongs on
a shelf.
Be a true friend, share,
fully what you can.
A servant of God, in the
family of man!
Seek out the meek and
the humble.
The popularity game~
a huge ego rumble.
