" Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words after all,
but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as
bread in the pockets of the hungry" - Mary Oliver
In the diaphanous sapphire night,
the drizzling dust of descending moonbeam
adorns the pearl-laced waves of the rolling sea,
spread seamlessly before me beyond the shore,
where I saunter alone in the desolate corridor of mind.
That is where I follow the footsteps of the elusive muse.
The rain-washed sparkling seamless sky
spreads the spectrum of my sensuous dreams,
weaved with the chromatic imagery,
designed by the charismatic rainbow motif,
arching over the halcyon horizon that beckons me.
That is where I discover my innate imagination.
In stalled times wafting the miasma of despair,
I turn the dented emotive impulse
into a lyrical storm of creative craving.
On its fantasy wings I fly in the rhapsodic air
to the boundless realm of afflatus.
That is where I feel the life-cherishing force of poetry.

Oh dear young angel
Why do you frown at my eyes?
That seek your tender soul...
To partner my lovely energy,
Dreaming to bound forever.
I let down my mind's guards
To draw your heart closer.
How soon will you reciprocate?
The fear of losing out,
On time per chance to fading feelings.
Oh dear angel; vibrant
And cool to be honestly touched
From within, my heart wishes now
Could be the time at will, won't it?
To grace the craving of your quest.
Will I feel the cloudy weather?
Tempting its running cold fever,
To lasting the night wonders
Of lonely lips in thirst
Of sunlight's ray.
Gauge the night,
Freezing the boisterous cloud,
To lightening up absent touches
Of my young angel's outburst.
Shall my heart's curtains open again?
All the kids are dressed in black
The heavens gaze down in anguish
The man lays down, vanquished
He had much more to do
But he made a deal with you
And the devil asked his due
The angel is scarred
No holds were barred
God let down his guard
Or so says the bard
The woman cries and weeps
The man lies and sleeps
The bird flies and peeps
The body dies and keeps
The soul strides and leaps
Send all of your powers
In lieu of flowers
So he can have the hours
To sweeten his sours
But nonetheless
I digress
He’ll be just fine suppressed
Go on to eat
Go on to meet
Six feet is not that deep
This is a world where nothing really works,
where disappointment elbows out belief.
Behind each spurt of hope, a let-down lurks.
Each valiant voyage founders on some reef.
But you? You've never known a moment's care.
Those lips are strangers to the bitter residue
which makes my only fare. You toss that hair,
and doors are opened eagerly to you.
I've nurtured this bleak love for far too long.
I've dragged it like a chain around my feet,
across my wilderness. No longer strong,
I'm broken-down, diminished, incomplete.
Whatever you dislike, you simply slough.
No hand-me-downs for you, no dregs or crumbs.
Regret has never creased that lovely brow.
You just expect fine things, and fine things come.
I've no illusions left. It's run its course.
I've tried to give you up, resign, recant.
And you who never weep, or feel remorse,
I've tried so hard to curse you. But I can't.

It's been an ugly couple
Of years and a yucky struggle
Stomping in muddy puddles
With bloody knuckles
Before smelling and picking honeysuckle
Got to wise up, and make the money double
Despite the stress and hunger pains in my tummy muscles
It's seeming stark
Occasionally I'm seeing stars
Far away like Mars
As I'm proceeding in the dark
Yet another human being's art
It's always beating, yet now it's a bleeding heart
Usually staying low-key instead of playing the leading part
Meanwhile people working with or without a cleaning cart
It began, passed or soon the meeting starts
It was a free-for-all or there was a seating chart
Accidents happen whether in or out of a speeding car
Some people eating carp
As it either did or didn't reach the freezing mark
Might've made others, but never made myself proud
I'm alive, but inside feeling dead now
Head in the clouds or head down
Burned through much more than ten pounds
Dusted myself off and got up every time I fell down
Often I was working on the next round
The drink I failed to set down
Expectations low, from here to the next town
It makes me upset how
Continually I am let down
Stoned and angry, eyes are bloodshot red now
As I get around with a Hellhound
They're so quick to tell me that I am Hell-bound
Meanwhile they're all spellbound
Towards an oath people never did or they felt bound
People staying composed or having a meltdown
I've done good and I did wrong
It's odd
The opportunity is gone
From being far too withdrawn
As I continue to live on
Over the years, helped out a lot of sick dogs
I would say on first summings, being a little shy
sit back and read my poem,i`ll try to explain why
my speach is not so perfect flowing,i get a little tensed
until you get to know me,i let down my gaurd and fence
Of all that can succomb to me,`til i`m comfortable you`ll know
my confidence, relaxing and along my speach will flow
when i do feel at ease, and amongst all friends
the joker does emerge from me,then i will probably tend
To come out from my shell, and enjoy a drink or two.
Or onto my Fiance` and family, that i love so dear
my friends i do have a few or just general peers
i have one daughter, and a grandson,my heart i hold so near
I like to think i`m thoughtful, kind, selfless and caring
and give sound advice, whenever it seems bearing
so Tracie, i`d like to think i`ve covered, all of your ground
without blowing my horn, i`d say i`m sound as a pound.

Puppies and birds, they were Clarise’s go-to’s.
She always had her eyes out, she never did snooze.
Fishing them out of crevices, crannies and old boats.
She never brought home llamas, donkeys or goats.
Puppies and birds, she collected faster than most.
I have sixty-two robins, she said in way of a boast.
Her blue glasses were always full of dribbles of white.
These birds let down squirts on every one of their flights.
The puppies seemed happy, none were in cages or a pen.
I cannot open the door, she said, afraid I can’t let you in.
We didn’t want in there, but we liked seeing Clarise.
She has a keen sense of humor, and empathy, my little niece.
They placed me in a wooden box
and then they put the lid on. They left
me to shiver the cold night through and
picked me up next day around eleven a.m.
I heard dogs bark and children play, I heard
sweet songs among the dirges; friends and relatives
said such lovely things about me that afore were quite
unheard of. Inevitably, old Uncle Jim came out with
the one about the actress and the archbishop,
and what the fallen woman said at confessional
to a rabbi who'd taken over from the priest
for the day in a spirit most ecumenical. Then
the pall-bearers at last bore the box to the
spot assigned for burial. "Ashes to ashes,
dust to dust," said the reverend with
solemn finality as they let down the
box with me inside into the yawning
cavity, and that, if you'll allow me
add, with something akin to
alacrity. Then just as he gave
the final sign
to set the spades
showering earth down,
I lifted the lid of the box where I lay,
I said to the assembled all gasping and white:
"Sorry to stop the proceedings so late in the day, but one assumption I
challenge as completely unfounded, though it's been all too readily
taken for granted:
Far be it from me to cause an upset, but I think you should know--
I'M NOT DEAD YET!"
Some of the assembled felt very let down
and made no bones about it.
Relax you say, perhaps easier said than done
Time to let down your hair and go out and have some fun
Stress and tension team up to wage war on all of us
This dynamic duo is not happy unless they create a big fuss
They attack our positive emotions in such a profound and negative way
We can't allow these villains of mayhem to control our days
It is time to stop them in their tracks by fighting back
Take a holiday to an exotic beach and have some fun
They seem powerless against the pristine waters and the gorgeous sun
Go out for a walk breath the nice air, and think only happy vibes
In the end, it is up to us to banish these negative emotions for evermore
We have the means, we just need the desire to boot them out the door
