Looking out my window at the snow falling softly
I am reminded of the passing of time
the new year can bring new beginnings
the new year always made me a bit melancholy
leaving the ones I loved and lost even further away
at least that’s how I feel every year when I hear
auld lang syne at midnight
I know life goes on
I know life is good
that moment of sadness and sweet memories
visits me during that song
I will not say goodbye to them
my heart swells for the missed moments
as I take a deep breath and wonder
what will this new year bring
locking those memories in my heart
In a field of clover and buttercup
A romantic picnic for two laid out
Eye on her watch as her heart swells with doubt
So worried he’ll work late and stand her up
Any time but not tonight would be forgivable
As she can barely contain herself should she explode
Hours of planning this escapade from their abode
The mounting anticipation is quite unbearable
And here he is, the darling, right on cue
Just in time for the rain to catch them by surprise
Who cares! When she gets to look into his eyes
And let him know how much she loves him
Getting drenched but nothing dilutes their joy
That newlywed feeling is overpowering
He reads her mind, she can’t hide a single thing
Life will change forever… the baby’s going to be a boy

And my heart's suddenly skipping a beat
To the tune of his wooden, stringed acoustic
He's always been who I was meant to meet
His words sung, spoken, or written: my music.
My cheeks warm and soften into a smile.
When I am serenaded by him, my heart swells.
His songs make me happy longer than awhile.
Truly he is the one whom in my heart dwells.
And my heart suddenly slows so steadily
As he sensually seduces my body and mind.
His handsomeness makes me give in readily.
His everything all makes him one of a kind.
My whole body and mind sink inward.
He early on became my favourite partner ever.
His lovemaking makes me love being forward.
He is my best, last, dearest ever lover.
A while back I left meaning
At the river bank of seeming
And gathered myself to trust
Dark and light
I learned how to fight
By giving my faith to LOVE
He took me deep and wide
Cleaning all I longed to hide
'Neath the sheath of TRUTH
The fire was roaring
And I began soaring
As the chains of deception were loosed
Down, up, over, under
The lightening struck and I felt HIS voice THUNDER
Shaking the foundation of my soul
I yielded to the push and pull
Wanting to be wise in spite of being a fool
To the world system of structured holes
For so long, my eyes were fixed
On the laying of the bricks
To see how it all works
The wrong tends to rise
In the systems we devise
.....quirks, quirks, and more quirks
What on earth made us believe
That we could keep what we receive
And do whatever it takes to ensure entitlements never leave
OUR FILTHY GRUBBY HANDS
UGH! I am so tired of the struggle
...I want, I need, I should have, I'm not happy with what I have
...........I should have alllllll I want, when I want it, and
....................GOD, you should want me to have it.
There! I said it!
So, if I continue with LOVE
I get the blessings others aren't aware of
Enjoying intimacy so deep my heart swells in capacity
Or, I can lay the struggle down
And try to keep all the temporal things I have found
In the accepted veracity
...of fallen men
Yesterday, the answer was clear
But today, my friend, I am here
In the thick red clay...that clings to my boots
Although I walk in peace
Matter tries to stick where the Spirit gives release
So I can allow enemies to believe they have valuable loot
....I worked hard to gain
No...it was given..and I will let it go.

Hello so quickly turns into goodbye, in my last 39 minutes on this earth,
Memories swirl through my mind, starting at my birth.
Childhood dreams and meeting my Prince Charming,
Days of rising early turned into years, quite alarming.
Playing house with tiny feet’s patter,
and laughter’s sweet sound,
In our modest 900 square-foot home, love was found.
Bursting at the seams; hope filled every nook,
Through lean years and hardship, I kept turning the page in my book.
Running full speed ahead, by leaps and bounds—reliving moments so precious,
The race against the clock saw me searching through nooks and crevices,
Celebrating many milestones—everything was right,
Ignoring the inevitable, staring me in the face was the fading light.
The mirror reflects the lines in my face, etched by years’ demand,
My hands, now worn and frail in braving life’s commands.
Reflecting on the dreams and hopes I once held dear,
Cherishing the laughter that wiped away each tear.
Taking each laboured breath, savouring life’s last song,
These 39 lines echo as the end draws near— time to say so long.
Soon, I will be making my way come nightfall.
Where my loved ones await, I hear the homecoming call.
One last feeble smile, one last tender kiss,
Surrounded by family I will forever miss.
My heart swells, my hands relax on my last embrace,
My time is near, as I leave with grace.
Oh, if only I knew—when time was still in view—that 39 minutes would be so very few.
If I could turn back time, I would hold you so much closer.
If only I knew, I would have been so much wiser.
I would have slowed down the days, let each moment unfold,
I would have walked in the rain, danced through the storm of life, and been bold.
I would have tasted each sweet kiss, and drunk from love’s sweet vine,
I would have treasured your embrace that was so divine.
A lifetime’s worth,
Here on earth,
Showtime’s close,
My final rose.
I would have written a different chapter, though now it’s coming to an end,
I will hold close the memories and make a few amends.
As I take a bow, right on cue, let the curtains fall.
My last breath, the final call.
When Shining Spring Sets In
When shining spring sets in,
The earth takes a new birth
Sheds all its snowy screen
Dons itself a new dress
To boast as a queen;
When shining spring sets in,
Let`s welcome it with thrill
With its carpets of greens
On the bed of all hills
Which every eye can glean;
When shining spring sets in,
Trees cloak in newer veils
To court singing sparrows,
Eye flowers in full bloom
And vie with their halo;
When shining spring sets in,
Human heart swells anew;
With the warm breeze of spring,
The spirit beams with joy
And souls with bliss do swing.
Dear Attorney Mollow,
The autumn winds rise soft around me, rustling the pages of my soul as I sit beneath a sky as tender as the heart you seem to carry.
I look upon the beauty of this life, the fleeting sweetness of days unfurling like petals on a rose, and my heart swells with gratitude—for it all, Atty Mollow, for the quiet joys and even the sorrows that shape us.
This life is a song, and I, merely a note, vibrating in harmony with the unseen chords of existence.
I have often written of sadness, of longing, but it is in the quiet moments that I have found something deeper—gratitude that rises from the earth itself.
For it climbs within me, filling every hollow, every empty space that once echoed with yearning, my soul.
I am grateful, Atty Mollow, for the mornings gilded with light, for the whispers of nature that have sung to me since childhood, and for the connection between souls that transcend time and space—such as ours.
How fortunate we are, not just to live, but to feel, to witness beauty in the delicate weave of the world.
I sense in you the same wonder, the same deep-rooted thankfulness for what is and what might yet be.
Do not let your heart grow heavy with the weight of the world's troubles, for they, too, are threads in the grand tapestry.
Each moment, each breath, is a gift. How could we be anything but grateful?
From the bottom up—from the soles of my feet, grounded in the earth, to the crown of my spirit, reaching toward the stars—I am grateful.
I think you understand this truth, for it pulses in your words, in the way you move through this life with quiet grace and reverence.
If this thought could I think to a Judge,
I am great full.
May your heart continue to rise like the morning sun, shining its light upon all that it touches.
With gratitude,
James McLain
I stand outside in the tempest,
clothes billowing, cloak whipping in the wind,
my body swaying and rocking in the gale
as the heavens burst asunder
and disgorge their incredible payload.
My heart swells with exhilaration at nature's glory,
the raw power she wields
in such a fantastic display
invigorating, tremendous to behold.
Lightning flashes all around,
a flurry of bolts lashing out at the sky;
thunder booms and rolls
through the air and earth,
shaking the ground with its potency.
I marvel at the purity of it all -
of the lightning as it travels the abyss above;
of the thunder as it quakes the bedrock below;
the sky as the dark, roiling clouds churn;
the rain as it drives down,
sheet after sheet, drop after drop,
glistening in a sheen on my face
as I stare upwards, watching all
with an expression of amazement
and cries of fierce exaltation.
the headstone reads In Loving Memory . . .
though the clock of time ticks and ticks I will not forget
for your death left a scar on the map of my soul
dad- my heart swells with a sea of tears
when I come to visit you in this place of cold stones
the clouds sail happy across the sky
but my heart is held by a chain of lead
you were the kind a man who lived each day
loving nature and teaching this girl everything
I can still see us meandering a winding trail
and how we loved to feed the ducks on the pond
the sweet memories last amid the dregs of sorrow
my life is weather stained and ravaged
since that sad day . . .
I have fallen to my knees asking why
why, why, why, why, why, why -
until my last breath dad, you are in my heart
oh, I held you in death and did not want to let go
of your cold hand . . . . holding it to my cheek
