[Verse 1]
She was seventeen, wild and free
Barefoot dancing by the sea
Golden hair and sun-kissed skin
The kind of girl that draws you in
He was just a Georgia boy
With a six-string and a heart full of noise
They met where the tide rolls in
Two strangers chasing the wind
[Pre-Chorus]
A weekend flame, a whispered name
No plans to stay, no one to blame
[Chorus]
But love don’t ask for reasons
It don’t care about the time
A kiss beneath that August sky
Would echo down the line
What started as a fleeting spark
Lit a fire they never knew
And from that chance summer
I came into view
[Verse 2]
Years rolled by like crashing waves
They lived their lives in separate states
Mom raised me with a quiet grace
But I saw him when I looked in my face
Then one day, the past called back
A message lost in an old backpack
He stood there with tears in his eyes
Said, “Son, I almost missed my life”
[Pre-Chorus 2]
He took my hand, she took his too
And said, “We made the best of you”
[Chorus]
'Cause love don’t follow logic
It don’t always need a plan
Sometimes fate and ocean air
Create a bigger man
A moment turned to legacy
That neither one outgrew
From a chance summer
I came into view
[Bridge]
Maybe they were never meant
To last beyond that shore
But some beginnings
Are worth so much more
[Final Chorus – with name line]
No, love don’t need permission
It shows up like a song
And leaves you with a melody
That lingers all life long
They held each other, looked at me
With eyes that somehow knew
That from their chance summer
They gave me the name too
[Outro]
Yeah, from that chance summer…
They named me Chance — and I came into view
The Dark Man Cometh.
Georgia on my mind, rock n roll hell,
The Dark Man Cometh.
Can"t you feel the coolness in the breeze
See that grayness in the light summer sky,
Have that feeling of slight unease you just
Can"t put your Sticky finger on .
The Dark Man Cometh,
The world is once again receptive
To 'you've got your troubles'
Troubles ready to escalate .
Bad Moons are ready to break on through,
The Doors suddenly have a Credence
To open wide on an Eve of Destruction.
There is Thunder on the Mountains
And no Sympathy for a Devil who
May be Born in the USA.
The Shadows of the Night
Became darker, Back in Black.
True Colors, Because the Night
Became Raw Power signifying
A Bad Dangerous Thriller
Of a confrontation.
That could mean an Exodus.
The world holds its breadth
As we are drawn Back in the U.S.S.R .
No one wants a Bullet in the Bible
Or to be a Soul Survivor.
Are we Experienced?
The Dark Man Cometh,
Let us not Barrack him yet,
Hey Joe, 'Whatcha Gonna Do About It'

This "Pantoum" is about Birth, Life, Death. There are all sorts of "Waiting Rooms", in this Life and the next. Of course, this is my belief. The reader may interpret Birth, Life and Death distinctly separate from my belief.

"Politics is a dirty business. If you are going to 'write' policy, fabrication is not advisable, make sure you have ALL the true facts in front of you and that TRUTH is delivered by whatever means necessary". Quote, Leanne Lovejoy-Burton to daughter, Georgia - April 2018.
Chasing my thirst into the
desert at night,
Otis Redding was right….
“You don’t miss the water till the well runs dry”
And marrying the wrong woman
for the second time,
Smokey Robinson was right….
“You better shop around”
Writing my pen empty with the
same old words,
Cat Stevens was right….
“The first cut truly is the deepest”
And living in Macon because
I thought it was safe,
Charlie Daniels was right….
“The devil did come down to Georgia”
Losing my religion only to
seek God again,
Robert Plant was right….
“You can’t buy a stairway to heaven”
And when I’m alone and desperate and have
nowhere left to turn,
Bob Dylan was the most righteous of all….
“When you ain’t got nothin, you got nothin to lose”
(Villanova Pennsylvania: March, 2018)
Putin's just started World War Three
though if anyone had thought to ask me
You could see it coming back in 2008
when he rolled over Georgia, then sat back to wait
And the world stamped and shouted
before leaving the poor Georgians to fate
When Putin's little green men invaded Crimea
six years later, you got the idea
Now part of Russia, Crimeans are glad
to travel freely to Moscow and Petrograd *
As for Ukraine, Putin's stepped up his game
invaded with tanks and missiles, fire and flame
What's next are the Baltics and probably Poland
That's when World War Three will really get rollin'
Meanwhile, China's got Taiwan in her sights
She's stripped citizens there of all civil rights
To halt the war, what will Biden and Harris do
Will sanctions save even one life ~ let alone two?

*Petrograd is the former name of what is now the city
of Stalingrad... Crimeans no longer have to bribe Russian
sentries at border crossings just to enter the country.

I shall mould thee
Saidth the board
To be adorned
Forever and ever
Red pigment
Which with
Cement looks like
Clay
I shall mould thee
That ye shall stand
Forever
Throughout eternity
Forever and a day
Georgia an alkal
Fiber mesh
The winds and rain
Stand to ah-test
Wakes and Papahanaumoku
Shall recreate the world
to bring it to anew
Bonus beneath me

Of it's beauty one

We as one
Serendipitous trippy flakes, when it snows in Georgia;
forecast bleak, cancelled week - not a dent in Minnesota,
but here in the bible belt angels shake their fists
full of gentle flurries. They surround the stately trees
and remind the pines of Christmas past -
January’s our month to shine. Blizzard? White out?
Banks of snow? of course not! This is the South - we lack plows.
We might hazard a walk down the street, the lovely white coat
of fresh paint under feet, but for yours truly, I need deer’s feet
to climb down and up my hill - balding boots will not do.
Flurries a little fuller, twirling, dancing, romancing. Precious
these times - even a robin’s adorned in an imitation
white mink coat, lilting hallelujahs on this holy morning.
1/16/2022
Ever misty morning light,
Darkest shadows taken flight;
Pale colors casually blent,
Golden blooms, most luscious scent!
Especial, pure and true,
Feel freshness, morning's dew!
Peach tree grove under a hill,
Just at sunrise, hush and still.
And on the horizon, skies of pink;
Into lush fruit the teeth to sink.
And branches are dark and rise above;
Song of bird from limb thereof.
Eagerly begins the march of day,
In the old fashioned way.
Such beauty, how so rare!
Sun sparkles in her hair.
Grove sunrise--sweet Georgia peach,
Like a lady, soft of speech;
And also full of every grace;
Sweet memory's resting place.
