The genie is on the loose
The genie is on the run
Ali Baba and the 40 thieves
Pandora box has been sprung;
Pandemonium, helter-skelter strung.
"Why did you do this"? He asked
'I heard a voice that ordered me'
The genie on the loose
And the people on the run.
Running helter-skelter.
The dragon unleashed
Spanners in the works
Too many cooks tending the broth
Many phalanges eyeing the broth..
The Scilian code of silence is broken
The genie on the loose.
Zebra crossings in the game reserve
Ebola the terror from Monrovia
Revered in Lagos Nigeria.
The genie on cruise control.
Boko Haram in the North East
Terrorists in religious garb,
Weakness of the Nation awakened
Reality dawns on the
Conscience of A Nation
The genie on the loose.
At last our sacred realm
Of peace has been broken.
Fear reigns supreme at the
Fringes of the the Country's borders
We are now face to face with terror.
The imagination of a Nation
Held in a vice grip.
(This was written in March, 2015)
when the terrors of Boko Haram
was at its peak ravaging Nigeria.
I stumbled upon a Genie's glass
Along the shore, it glittered bright
It caught my eye, I dug the sand
And held this magic in my hand
I rubbed it clean, to my delight
The Genie spoke and granted me
Such golden wishes, not two...but three
Offering wealth, or fame or riches grand
But within the power given me
I'd choose to break free from my shell
Where childhood imagination would not fail
And if the sky were clear enough
And the water still enough
Then, that is where wish two begins...
If I could step right out of my skin
To sometimes be old....or young again
Then I could see the world outside
Through someone's older or younger eyes
And understand a different sky
The last wish that has been granted me
Would be to erase all negativity
To see the world a peaceful place
Like looking through the Genie's glass
Where skies are free from war and gain
And rain or sun comes free of pain
These would be wishes I would ask
If I were to find the Genie's glass
The genie possesses infinite wishes
& is only contained by the bottle
The bottle is but an illusion full of hollow
dreams posing as aspirations
waiting to be attained or fulfilled
Matter maintains a shape conducive to
thoughts believed to be real
but only acts according to strength
of the will
It is as a man thinketh so says Proverbs 23
which means the power has been
given to and resides within you
& me
So mote it be says the genie abiding
by the law of the one
that sees everything & created
what you saw
Know that you inhabit a bottle made to
walk & talk according to wishes
that supercedes all lies & inherited
superstitions
Don't let the world rub you the wrong way
but instead allow your inner
genie to be free
to enjoy life & its short days
As you can see we are both genie & the bottle
in many ways
full of wishes we'd like to see granted
before time has its say
We once owned a little mutt named Genie
on occasion we called her Genie Panini
we tried not to feed her table scraps n' stuff
but then again, I had her heart on my cuff
so once in a while, we gave her little bits
to keep at bay her continuous barking fits
Each night hubby would eat a bowl of cheerio
while watching T.V. or listening to the stereo
Genie watched intently eyes peeled to the bowl
the ritual worked well, for she never stole
he gave her 1, there was nothing she could do
so she crunched it while she lay beside his shoe
One day hubby went to answer the door and left
Genie hopped on the couch and left him bereft
she ate all the cheerios but she did leave him one
when he returned he saw an empty bowl no fun
He'd been outsmarted by a funny little Shih Tzu
with Pomeranian smack, who knew what to do.
Moral of the story: Never trust a dog, when it comes to food.

You own me love
most beautiful flowering
blossoming woman inside
this world
to be your genie
popping out
of a bottle
Rubbing me up
out of the heart
in a magic
dazzling puff
of magic smoke
granting three wishes
warm happiness smiles
Appears
you be
the masterful
one sweetheart
awaiting your commands
to be all
your feelings
and wishes baby
wrapped up softly
Inside emotions
desiring dreams
joins sweetly
in no time
over space
star sparkling jewels
almost heavenly breathing
Whispers in
a cool warm
gentle breeze
and the next thing
you know whats coming
next one treasure
I am all yours honey
Father?
Have You looked at us lately?
We're so far away
And so full of hate, for each other.
Father?
Have You listened much lately?
The things that we say
Make my head hang in shame and disgrace.
Father?
Are You reading the papers?
The things that are written
Make me think that we're smitten with pride and conceit.
And Father
Will You be voting?
The people on both sides are hoping
Sure hoping You see things their way?
Father?
Have You seen Your house lately?
They're pretending You're there while pretending to care.
Acting like they've got it all worked out/shadow boxing the air.
Scoring each round and,
Strutting and hawking our wares.
Father
The children are dying.
Mothers are crying.
No one seems to care.
Father?
Do any lives really matter?
It seems like the mad hatter is debating the wind with the Hare.
Father?
Seems like we trust in the voting booth more than the closet of prayer.
Father?
Are You paying attention?
Guess I failed to mention
We're in the express lane so hurry?
Father?
Can You take my order I called in advance?
Like the genie in the bottle.
And please hurry when You get the chance.
.
Father?
After all this
Are we too far gone?
What have we missed?
And Father,
We're so good at judging
And telling You just where we think You need to be.
Father,
It's easy to see when it's someone else not me.
And
How do we find our way home?
And
Have we been gone too long?
And
Do You still care?
Are you still there?
Are we all alone?
Please take us home to the 51st psalm?
.
Create . . . in me, a clean heart
Renew a right spirit in me.
Don't throw me away
Teach me Your ways.
Let me love my enemies the way that You say.
.
Jesus?
When did I see You cold?
When did I see You hungry?
When did I visit You
In prison?
Did I pass You by on the side of the road?
Was I too busy watching the show?
Let me be
Meek poor in spirit and kind.
Let me be a peacemaker.
Let my message be
Jesus Christ, Him crucified.
Father?
Have You looked at us lately?
I'm sure hoping and hoping,
That You've still got plenty of Grace.
I ate some beans and got real sick.
My brains felt like they were three feet thick.
Once it cleared and I felt better.
I knew right then that I would get her.
The remnants of the magic spell.
Delivered me from my own hell.
I quickly weighed another dose.
Decided last time was too close.
My aura shines with new found luck.
No longer is my psyche stuck.
She loves me every night and day.
It's for those beans that I now pray.
I ate some more and puked my guts.
At first, I thought I must be nuts.
But sure as heck, my dream came true.
I won the lottery when it was through.
So like a Genie in a magic lamp.
My third wish, I got a cramp.
But when I finally could relax.
I found I didn't even have to pay tax.
I gave them magic beans away.
So someone else can have their way.
But if I was them, first thing I'd ask.
Is to not get sick on every task.
Take a sip, and you will find,
All your wish, is in your mind.
Listen carefully, let me explain,
Desire brings, both joy and pain.
Right or wrong, gain or loss,
There is a line, you mustn’t cross.
For curious, little, Alice knew,
Took a sip, and then she grew.
Pinocchio, just a wooden toy,
Made a wish, and became a boy.
That genie, who’s lamp you'll shine,
Works for you, is on your dime.
Nothing you see, is as it seems,
We live in mind, and walk in dreams.
This potion, is a potent brew,
Beware your choice, for there’s no undo.
A blend, so bittersweet to taste,
It’s your life, let nothing waste.
Once you’re ready, try a cup,
Make-A-Wish, then drink it up!
City hub on wings
apogee of ultra bright
fire within urban comet
tangerine signpost
to future halcyon spot
amidst buoyant step onrush
Bouncy castle perk
spurs avid market stall pitch
bargain in a jiffy bag
loophole hatched off-curb
brainwave surge from genie flash
to everyone’s benefit
Silver winter tinged
trees and wet overcast skies
never dampen township verve
that heartland zeitgeist
typical of boom and bloom
day or night march on dweller
Sweep off feet vision
endemic to rapid shifts
where marvel woos miracle
in heady cocktail
at the cutting-edge hubbub
point of entry upbeat frame
195.
Hope
Oh God, though they pronounce me incurable
And all of my days will be miserable
I shall still hope that tomorrow's gonna be gentle
For men are created to uplift the weak
They're also obliged to comfort the sick
As Your Son, Jesus, tended the meek
I'm so damaged with outlasting sore
My former radiance is hard to restore
Can do nothing but to always implore
Seeking a friend to let a hand
Or a genie who makes wish a command
Or a Moses who leads to Promised Land
But as I wake up in reality
Everything's uncertain, the future is gloomy
Where is the hero who will save me?
Oh God, help me to become sober
Though my night seems to be longer
I still must hope that morning comes sooner.
