The blaze of azure up above has taken on a new pallor,
The sun, so fervent for so long, now doles out its ardor.
Falling leaves pirouette in the air in amber and gold,
A drizzle of brittle tears, shed from their lofty abode.
The summer breeze has withdrawn its sultry embrace,
Is now but a chill sigh stealing away in haste.
Streets that were robed in many a splendid hue,
Have slipped off their finery, donned an air subdued.
The day that lingered, now sings an early swan song,
Shooed away by a nocturne that’s languid and long.
Summer has departed, my love, autumn is in the air.
As the city starts to shiver, will passion cease to flare?
Will the summer of our love stay on against all odds?
Or will it flee from the frost of fear-addled thoughts?
When spring, at long last, shows her first blush,
Will our pledges flower, or will our hearts be hushed?
If winter follows winter, if seasons desert these shores,
I know, dear, my love for you will still grow evermore.
March 7 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on Judges 4-6
Key Verse –Judges 4:3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he (Sisera) had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY OPPRESSION-RESCUER
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your grace
Thank You for delivering me against selfishness-brace
Not letting me go away from Your divine race…
Here am I going with You along journey’s praise.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your law
Thank You for drawing me against edge of evil’s claw
Not letting me flee from Your will devoid of any flaw…
Here am I turning to You, overcoming frustration paw.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your governing
Thank You for driving me against captivity of sinning
Not letting me remain under dominion of vanity-dining…
Here am I abiding in You for heart cleaning.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your mercy
Thank You for discomfiting me against jeopardizing hypocrisy
Not letting me stay in the curses of bitterness-potency…
Here am I bowing to You with repentant heart of pardon’s expectancy.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your answer to my prayer
Thank You for dealing with me against my pride that’s soul-slayer
Not letting me prevail as a carnality-influenced flier…
Here am I coming to You as a humble seeker and crier.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your deliverance
Thank You for defending me against disobedience due to ignorance
Not letting me hide under the comfort of worldly assurance…
Here am I begging for Your patience-forbearance.
Lord God, You are my oppression-Rescuer by Your response to my plea
Thank You for directing me against influence of humanistic glee
Not letting me escape from Your calling of service-jubilee…
Here am I clinging to You, worshipping as Your child, spiritually free.

When I kissed your lips this morning,
It tasted bitter and sour like a chicory,
How did sweetness flee its borders
Or has bitter seed been sown into its belly?
When I whispered love into your ear,
I found it deaf for God knows how long,
Its music no longer sways a single leg,
And its spark on your face brought no fire.
When I cuddled you close to my heart,
Your heartbeats were regularly irregular,
The coldness of your warmth froze like rime,
And the blood it pumps is laced with bile.
So love can flow like a river tumbling downhill,
That has a forward but no backward flow?
So love can be whispered with a muffled echo
That's spoken into the air and filled with silence?
"My healthy arm will be your stay; And I will smooth your pain
away; And when I see you hang your head; It will be my turn
to watch your bed; And tears of sweet affection shed. "
Quote - from Ann Taylor's poem, My Mother
I will turn back the pages of sorrow,
to the sad May day my mother left me;
the details recalled each 'morn and 'morrow,
as her breath became gasps- I did not flee.
Then, stood by her coffin screaming inside,
tears falling, whispering- oh, why God why;
she had left me on Mother's Day that year,
to her cold headstone my thoughts often glide;
I set her free- so up, up she could fly,
turn off life support . . . I said with a tear !
Mother was my very best friend always,
loved her garden and country adventures;
mom, so calm even when roads were a maze,
so we would stop the car to take pictures.
Our home had a huge vast sunny garden,
since a child I helped mom with the flowers;
those days are some of my best memories,
nesting close by we had a Blue Martin;
we could linger there for - hours, hours and hours,
Mother's day . . . will be lost in reveries !
I never met a more joyful kind soul,
my sweet mom embraced every single day;
to others she had so much self-control,
mother was happy and gay everyday.
She made each birthday a celebration,
each Christmas Day . . . gifts, family and food;
I was mothers decoration helper,
think that I was often her frustration;
always to my poetry she was glued,
my mom was my rock, true north and shelter !

That’s my conviction along biblical standards’ venture...
Am I wise in my gesture toward temporal pasture???
Enable me, Lord, to please You in my faith’s gesture.
Can others see God’s triumph in my attire?

Keep me modest and holy, Lord, midst modernism’s mire.
Can others see God’s triumph in my earnest dealings?
That’s my attitude in any of my relationship’s sailings…

I wander where the afternoons
were so warm and golden
and wonder why
pleasant woods and beautiful lakes desert me
leaving just trees and water
I wander where the orange sunset
painted the purple sky
and wonder why
The awe at the light show leaves my heart
I become colorblind to nature's art.
I go inside to where the parlor
was full of happy crowds
and wonder why
The chill of loneliness comes over me
in this silent room I can't wait to flee.
I wander where I held your hand
We thought the future was so grand
and I wonder why
So little went as we had planned
the road went to a savage land.
I wander where values
were accepted, and known
and wonder why
Stone became water, and water stone
If they see a good man, they can't leave him alone
I sat all afternoon
by an exuberant stream of rushing flow
And I wondered why
I lost the fun; I lost the glow—
like laughter fading after the show.
Maybe you need to feel the loss to grow.
Your smile was brilliant as you took a bow.
The upper echelon had welcomed you.
You donned humility, expressing how
we loyal members of your staff were due
deep gratitude. So few attendees knew
how often you’d demeaned us through the years
by saddling us with your less pleasant tasks.
We balked a little; you played on our fears
of job loss. We put on our happy masks.
Quite frequently, you saunter by and ask,
“Do you still like your job?” This time I’ll say,
“I don’t; I never did, your Majesty!
Your fine machine will lose a cog today.
If other peons leave, perhaps you’ll see
a boss like you makes people want to flee!”

With so many people in war forced to flee…forced to run away…forced along the streets of their country to roam…in the peaceful calm of the morning I stopped to give thanks for our home.
It’s where our children grew up…our grandchildren played…it’s been a fortress for our family…
I can’t imagine what it would feel like…if we suddenly had to flee.
How tragic…how sorrowful…how demeaning…how unkind…
If one day we were forced to flee…and leave everything behind.
This house has our DNA within its walls…our genes…our chromosomes…What would it feel like to abandon all the things that make this house our home?
The bed we’ve shared for years…the table where we eat dinners and where many a game’s been played…the fireplace that kept our family warm…the chair Deborah’s father made.
Our photo albums…our books…the artwork on our walls…
the door with our family’s heights recorded…from the closet in the hall.
As I looked at our house I thought how nothing would alleviate…nothing would appease…if all we could take were the clothes on our back and a lifetime of memories.
And when I thought of all the people I have loved…
who have passed through our front door…
I can’t imagine losing all of this…
to the senselessness of war.
