It’s not desire per say but the clinging ~
that stifles soul and stops heart from singing
enlivening silence sets our soul free ~
vibrant in the now, joyful and carefree”
Phantoms of constant fog create a zombie state of existence,
feeling worthless, your barriers offer demons no resistance.
Thoughts drift into a hazy labyrinth of toxic wilderness,
you're wide awake, but the mind's sleeping in fields of bitterness.
Dark shadows of silhouettes in shrouds start to frighten,
so you search for stimulation, for your eyes to enlighten.
To hush these' car crash' carnage echoes of violence,
soul seeks refuge away from ego to master silence.
To wander under blue sunny skies with caffeine clarity.
To cleanse in waterfalls that lead to principles of purity.
When you no longer dance with the Devil's temptations,
serenades of resurrection release suppressed frustrations.
Spirit soars, humming the repetition of a sweet refrain,
as you break away from the monotony of past pain.
In the muteness of stillness the heart learns to let go,
flourishing like the first daffodil after months of snow.
Strangers we were
We may have never met,
Strangers by creed and tribe,
Separated by walls of ignorance,
By cacoons intricately woven to hide from knowlege,
They say ignorance is bliss,
What is bliss if its not knowing?
So l have made a commitment to know and
To accept that what l do not know can be known,
So l have sharpened my inquisitive weapon,
Ready to ravage through the works of greatmen,
Searching for that which made them restless,
With pen and paper imortalizing ideas and opinions,
I am a writer and l will write what l like!
Stories and yarns of my heart,
Philosophies and wisdom of my forefathers,
Fears protruding like knives from my unsettled mind,
Sorrows and dissapointments as vast as the sea,
Happy moments relished and cherished forever,
Harnessing what the universe has in store for me,
We are no longer strangers because we met on this book,
For in books strangers can meet, just like we mate
Distillation and synthesis of ideas,
Great minds converging for intellectual enquiry,
For writing is a calling for the restless minded.
Line of enquiry:
“God within me is the enjoyer of the aroma
As also this dopamine boosting flavour I taste
I surrender all pleasures to the dweller of my heart
Breath by breath thus that my soul presence be chaste”
When ego controls a soul's mortal direction,
some remain asleep without a spiritual connection.
I count my blessings upon dawn's resurrection,
as an orchestra of robins compose with affection.
But curse of Seasonal Affective Disorder infliction
leaves a heart feeling melancholic in rejection.
Pills can take time to ease hormonal dejection,
so a tongue is mute when mirrors show dull reflection.
Some turn to the universe in times of retrospection.
Some prostrate in faith through silent genuflection
Some seek nature or vitamins to aid meditation.
Some clear angst through powers of intellection.
There's a sacred solace in morning contemplation,
soothed through the aroma of dark elixir elation.
Intense notes with sweet tones to relax abjection.
Each sip of potion is a symphony of perfection.
A clay chalice acting as a vessel for protection,
holding liquid nectar of your desired selection.
Awakening senses to transmute a mind's complexion,
igniting your spirit with wings of phoenix projection.
Toxic thoughts plagued from internal interjection,
now flow in smooth positive harmonic introspection.
In a brief existence a heart struggles from imperfection.
Brewed philosophies are a bridge to divine intervention.
Line of enquiry:
Yes, I affirm, I have seen God
But He appeared and then disappeared
This knowing that transcends mind, left me awed
But until what’s imbibed is assimilated, by fears I’m seared
As death whispered gently into my ear,
a divine light appeared flashing in white.
Was this a mere delusion to cause fear,
or was my soul preparing to take flight.
Teardrops bled to this soothing sacred gaze,
as I prepared to be summoned back home.
Life had left me lost in an endless maze,
with no desire to find new roads to roam.
But in this fleeting moment a voice spoke,
"it's not your time, so alter your outlook."
That was the juncture where my spirit woke,
changing the mindset of what I had mistook.
Blessed with heaven's touch of eternal grace,
fears faded in my heart, where faith found its place.
October 4 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on John 3-4
Key Verse – John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY BORN-AGAIN STATUS’ FULFILLER
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in transporting me to Your perfect will
Thank You for Your blessings which to my soul You fill
So that I won’t dwell in earthly hill
But stay in Your heavenly paradise through Your redemption-paid bill.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in sending to me Your Son for my assured salvation
Thank You for Your pardon cleansing my transgression
So that I won’t perish in hell’s flames of sin-condemnation
But receive Your gift of eternal life as well as regeneration as new creation.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in calling me to be Your disciple
Thank You for Your freedom extricating me from false perceptions’ principle
So that I won’t depart from ministry-involvement around Your holy temple
But draw near Your mercy whenever in guilt I grapple.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in teaching me rightful worship
Thank You for Your care unto me through Your offered marvelous relationship
So that I won’t miss Your fruitful friendship
But enjoy Your Christ-filled fellowship.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in instructing me about Your service standard
Thank You for Your bestowment of my labour’s reward
So that I won’t go out from Your discipleship-safeguard
But abide in Your stewardship work’s harvest yard.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in testifying to me Your greatness
Thank You for Your encouragement for me to live in Your graciousness
So that I won’t tarry in worldliness’ emptiness
But follow You through Your Word’s steadfastness.
Lord God, You are my born-again status Fulfiller
in inviting me to Your jubilant victory
Thank You for Your opportunities exposing me to Your miracles of glory
So that I won’t struggle in sin-sickness’ misery
But beseech You midst confusion’s enquiry.

Mystery of Pumpkin
One upon a time, not far back,
Grew in my small backyard garden
A pumpkin, size of a tortoise,
A monster, with weight of a ton
And had to be chopped with an axe;
Friends wished to have its seeds to plant,
Alas, it was a seedless male;
News spread fast in the neighbourhood
Leading to police enquiry
For concealing information,
But after investigation
Turned out to be a mystery.

All else scriptures say, may or may not be
So presence vibrant, heart pure and demure
As formless awareness we become free” Unseeking Seeker

Diverse ways are tried to attain the sky,
Some chant the Holy Names hours after hours,
With heart filled with milk of love for the High,
Gifting incense, offerings and flowers.
Some try to reach heavens through open doors,
Treading the halls of stone where candles glow,
Kneeling in respect upon the cold floor,
To receive the words that learned voices know.
Some seek the divine far from halls of stone,
Not in the thunder of a holy sound,
But strolling amidst nature they have known,
In the gentle grace rising from the ground.
Some seek light in kindness and compassion,
Lending a helping hand to those in need,
Elevating deprived souls, their passion,
As saintly Mother Theresa, indeed.
Others, like sages, seek sparks in woods wild,
At the feet of trees that reach for the sky,
Pondering for years and years in exile
And catch glimpse of truth in airwaves that fly.
Still, others sit in rooms of quiet grey,
Silence holding a mirror to the soul,
And let the busy world just drift away,
Waiting until the broken parts are whole.
They search the inner self for sacred signs,
A gentle mercy, flowing like a stream,
And feel a thread that links with the divine,
As they lie in quietude of a dream.
Oft they eye an inner light shining bright,
That leads them to their divine destiny,
Guiding them to the path that`s ever bright,
At the sparkling edge of infinity.
There is no single path to trace the way,
The light is fractured like in a prism glass,
It finds the seeker at the end of day
And brushes through the blades of meadow grass.
So, let`s look in the mirror of our gaze,
Or heed the hum inside the inner deep,
For God is found in many hidden ways,
In what we sow and what we strive to keep.
Let us keep God`s search simple and subtle,
In line with ways that fit our inner self.
Aligned with means that meet our own mettle,
To quench the thirst for evolving ourselves.
If he can hold on to that rare haven—
To that retreat if but for a moment,
Never mind that it stands to no reason—
He loves to dream, gossamer its garment,
Let thoughts go wild and often a bit naïve,
Let his imagination space-time bend,
And let wisdom's reality transcend,
In this deluding world man loves to thrive.
If life’s a dream in dream, ah what a gift!
And mind a monkey trying to escape,
Thanks be to it that world falls into shape,
Letting one’s struggling spirit to lift.
Amidst world of dreams, both real and surreal,
Who after all has known the truth that’s real?

Sonnets | 10.08.07, revised April 2022 |
Poet’s note: Recently I did a poetic translation of Ashtavakra Geeta, an ancient Indic text in Sanskrit on spiritual enquiry. A constant refrain therein is: this world is dream-like vain, it is a myth, what we see is not what it is, and what it is in reality we can’t see, and the like. Atman is man’s true identity, not ego. Atman and Brahman are the same. So are all the souls. Atman is the sole reality, not this world. Human aim is to seek freedom from rebirth. This is not to belittle the great wisdom that the text is (otherwise I would not have taken the trouble of translating its 650 odd verses), but here is my tongue-in-cheek take on it.
Line of enquiry:
Instrumentalising mind, I rested thought
employing it only when needed
shifting to heart, I became self-taught
gentling touch, voice of conscience heeded.
Intellect and intuition are like a sword and shield.
One cuts through darkness to bring clarity,
the other is an internal compass protecting the lost.
Both are formed polished, vigorous and gallant,
but through the struggles of each battle,
become ineffective when not revived.
My mind plays like a piano
and I am its pianist.
When I sit upon the cliffs of doubt,
it seems to be sleepwalking into a
chaotic jungle of consciousness,
where the symphony ignores the song sheet.
I don't want my words to be forgotten.
There is no reality in this reverie,
so the soul yearns to be free,
like a seagull soaring above stormy seas,
towards a sapphire and ivory skyline.
Sometimes skies can resemble fire,
where flames appear too strong,
so my internal wings seek refuge.
To heal from the noise, I lose myself
in the stillness of solitude.
In my loneliness, ego screams,
so I escape from this echo chamber,
by starving it from unworthy self praise
but if I do not love myself,
who will love me?
When dwelling upon the mountain of overthinking,
my spirit is unable to adapt to the flutes of fate,
but I ignore the provocation of poison.
I listen to the musicality of my heart,
releasing the strings of attachment.
I burn myself to light up the blackness,
composing lyrics from adversity's lessons.
I am a metaphor for a star,
touching the divine horizons,
sparkling, but still learning from the
'see saw' emotions of my heart and mind.
We are all carpenters in life,
with different tools to master our minds,
trying to control the outlook of our emotions.
As rivers of wisdom integrate smoother,
when we build bridges of compassion over them.
The existential bird in the blossomed blue,
flies abandoned with the rhythm of swan song.
The tapestry of time wraps with eternity hue
the innate immortality essence etched to belong.
The winsome whisper of the extant wind
rustles the lively lotus petals of perpetuity.
In solemn space of sanguine solitude of mind
deranged clamor subsides in ebbed silent entity.
Beneath the convolute layers of self-deception,
thousand suns shine perennially in blissful bay.
In the seraphic sky within of supreme perception,
ageless consciousness dances with nirvana rays.
“we look for that that does not come and go
it cannot be organic form, subject to decay
thoughts and beliefs are fickle, how little we know
yet come what may, our inner child continues to play”
