Premium Member Shame and Honor

the weak, they fall in silence on the way
they're wounded by the words that people say
the strong, they keep on marching night and day
and for the fallen, they don't stop to pray

the Darwin theory plays in social life
survival of the fittest in the strife
The strong, they maim and then run off in glee
A branch struck down from their familial tree

Community, a fable, sweet to share
but fable nonetheless, so few can care
If one is, hurt the body, it must bleed*
But it goes on, dismembered by the deed

There is no honor in demeaning talk
The walk of shame, the path they will not walk

Eileen Manassian

I come from a shame and honor society....a person's good name is more important to him/her than fortune or fame. So few know the meaning of true honor....The Bible comes from this region of the world...

Proverbs 12: 1 & 2-
 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

New International Version (NIV)

Matthew 12: 36- But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

Empty words...Jesus says that if you call your brother stupid....you are in danger of hell fire....Something to think about....

Matthew 5:22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

*In I Corinthians 12, Paul uses the analogy of the body to depict the community spirit that believers should have:

22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor......that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Premium Member Stay the Course

No deeply rooted history,
nor implied ordered liberty,
abortion, gutted like a trout,
dismembered, lies there, bleeding out.

Hyperbole is through the roof,
a million times more fun than truth,
and so all things report as true;
they’re coming for gay marriage, too.

The court is not deciding fates;
that can is kicked back to the states.
Now each will rank on published lists:
abortive destination trips.

Chasm widens on the issue:
right to life or useless tissue.
More than ever, we decide
to separate and to divide.

Pro-life Christians must up their game,
not being pro-life just in name.
This is a war, if one will dare,
‘gainst darker forces in the air.

Though victory, hard-fought, was won,
this, a mere skirmish, not that one.
Though joined to us in life and pain,
till His return, work still remains.

With hope, we see a foretaste grand
of life preserved throughout the land.
He is our motivating force,
so we press on, we stay the course.

The Changing Lotus

In light and shadow wherever I walk
Dismembered dialogues always stalk
Splattered life on leaves and flowers
Broken are our crystal hours

We are at a loss in this age of cheap blood
Where we will save our moon and bud
No point in looking to the church
We ourselves our ground besmirch

In light and dark we walk in fear
None to help the old King Lear
Everywhere an ice cold fear
Pest in all that we hold dear

But we are born not to sigh and die
Not to shudder frown and withdraw
We have kissed the orange of our sky
We have tasted your honey raw

Can we afford to get into the black hole
No, never, go to the music chorus
Says the bird from your rose bowl
Listen to the call of the changing lotus

Let’s try to discover fresh doors
Towards a sustained music of life
That may lead to another sunny shore
To squarely face our modern strife

Look there in the rise of ocean
Yours and mine joint religion
Let me feel your pulsating release
From the anxiety in my sky blue ease

Premium Member What About Wolfs

WHAT ABOUT WOLFS

shel silverstein: a bit childish, his giving tree my kids remember, though its parts were dismembered as it gave to the bitter end of life.

ogden nash: well, he gives us moo and milk, until the utter end, short and brief. reminds us of the soup’s - wolf.

wendy cope: born in kent in the london broil (ahem…borough) of bexley. things are going clunk and your face has too much gunk, a hoarder with thirty years of junk and especially she doth remind us don’t answer email when you're drunk.

william james collins: a hoot, billy! only child, born in manhattan, dear old dad worked on wall street. a poet laureate’s big recital on two poems about what dogs think (probably) - what about wolfs?

gershon wolf: he’s flower power-ful in his jest. for example - hippies pulled the triggers and out came flowers. though other comedic poets might create a chuckle, gershon always makes us smile.

One moment there was a time

When things had to be done on a dime

I will never decline

A VHS treasure find

If you get over the hypocrite's hatred of the dirty mind

Image beautiful and sweet

Puzzle needing to complete

Displaying a model athlete

Depended on the qualifying heat

When they compete

Not able to afford graduating from state

Revealing the losing scholarship death card, sealing their fate

Every interlocking piece

Police could connect to the recently deceased

An idea from Spain

Who would complain?

The one winning the game?

Achieving fame?

And what about the loser looking for someone to blame?

Back in eighty-two

When LA lounged near the pool

Pieces came out

Reclining couch audiences screamed and shout

Chainsaw dismembered

Vietnam War remains remembered

Finally, asking ‘is this the student’s life?’

Decided by the psycho's knife

While the orchestra plays the fife

And strums

The patriotic drums

Saying everything is all right

Go ahead let’s all fight

When slasher films unspooled, it made us feel

Knowing the body parts were not real

When thinking up a new deal

Bring peace into the mix

That is an answer we could all fix

Killing is not a good plan

Instead write a script my dear great grandson of Sam

It may end up a streaming hit

Especially lurking inside a tool boxers kit

Letter to an ex

everything started off smooth and fast
maybe why it wasn't meant to last
rejection was for my own protection
lovers to roommates best reflection
forged a facade of a family dynamic
resulted in sinking like the Titanic
convenience played a hefty role
help slow down separating goal
push came to shove due to regret
fights and arguing always upset
so called love dissolved overtime
missed the lessons time after time
settle with you for different reasons
love didn't last through 2 seasons
caused the divide with excessive thirst
lustful appetite I believe you CURSED
faked it until you didn't make it true
knowing there's no chance for redo
lied and falsified things about my life
still claiming to others I'm your wife
we were never married that was a lie
with that same breath you hope I die
something is wrong thinking I'll wait
saving myself with a great escape
noticing your stalking 8 years ago
detached but attached can't let go
use spell work to block my love life
creeping into my dreams with a knife
not the same person you remembered
that person is dead and dismembered
move on with your life it's the best
nothing to talk about I put that to rest
I will not allow the past to stop me
this time love is reciprocal and free

WOVEN IN THREADS OF LOVE’S FORGIVENESS

Time-tested love, bruised and battered,
Lay like littered crystals, sprawled out
Over the steel-plated stage of life—
Dismembered and crumbled—
Like stale cookies, whose particles have lost
Their electromagnetic-like attractiveness:-
Ingredients of envious spices,
Try to inhibit any and all adhesiveness,
That tough, threading love has kneaded:-
However, seaming forgiveness, knits
And weaves supreme love together:
Cocooning new soaring beginnings.
Indeed, the most fragile butterfly wings—
Soaring in monarch majesty—have conquered
Time-tested winds of trials and tribulations:-
Yes, “...to err is human…and to forgive, divine.”
May the weaving threads of supreme love, forever
Twine and bind, these blessed hearts of yours and mine:-

Premium Member Night Muse

I hear a muse
who speaks
and sometimes sings
and dancing leaps
only through my dreams

Whether mine is lonely
or one of many
we share at night,
I wonder

Where dark certainties
and sometimes starlit celebrations
unfold
dim as old dismembered bright

I suppose S/He might respond
to this humbling humane question
asked while fading off to play

and work
on Earth's re-spinning days

Frays and plays of relentless unresolve
becoming morning's clarity,
a puzzle solved

Just for me?
or for eternity

From all of us?
growing lunar waxing
knowing waning
weaning culture shifts

Communal waking
to whom we long to be
woke together ecotherapy

inhaling healthy democracy
sonorously snoring
once again.

Surgical Strike

The stars wink out over suburbia
another dawn has won over
a distant night.
The defeated and dead as always,
hidden between time zones,
a brief brutality too far away,
and not enough to smear backyards
and beer barns.

Upon my morning walk
I lift up my heart in song.
A soft breeze
drowns out the drone
of smart death,
the quieted blood of the gone,
leaving only
surgically dismembered voices
lilting sweetly
in this summer air,

If I look to the East
maybe a bird or two will arrive
bearing seeds of survival,
for now the pinpointed and targeted
tread no trace
thread no words.

After more nightly raids,
after the nocturnal flames,
the collateral and damaged
come to dream with us,
they come as the misplaced
and as our muted morning guests –

fortunately, we have
many soft and spare pillows.

The Bucket List

Things considering before the pail is fully on empty

He ponders through travel brochures in his mind

Engages embraces envelopes the mantle of peace

Bungee jump Taj Mahal and Guernica safe in the bag

Umbilical chord from toxic relations dismembered

Cairo Grand Canyon Provence Blue Mosque rearranged

Kai is happy with memories battles poetry to be told

Enlightened he may not become darkness holds beauty

To halt pause and live in the moment requires no list

Leaving the strife for perfection behind one step at

Invaluable steps just for now and forever in cautious

Search for impermanence he wishes for soul to prevail

To make love on Kilimanjaro but the mountain is here
