O life, in plasma form! O red stream in my veins!
Cells, platelets, tissues, fibers, water, and salts wrapped!
O, you who carry oxygen to my each cell!
O, you who maintain minute warmth of my body!
O, you who clean my body's Carbon Di Oxide!
O, you who heal instantly inner injuries!
Sopping up and transferring dietary stuffs,
From peptic canal to my tissues constantly;
Pulsating my physique heartthrob incessantly,
O, you who keep me alive, alert, and active...!
Entwined with beliefs, rites and rituals vast,
My ancestors and descendants you bind steadfast;
You establish relationships based on your flow,
Fuse father, mother, brothers, and sisters in row...!!!

victorian canal life - the reality (a true tale from from my maternal heritage )

We left our abode
       in old Cowfair
  haggled a price
for an old shire mare

Onto the
     landlord's canal boat
lock stock and barrel
        for a life afloat

farewell to our
     Buckingham birthplace &
its meagre living
     from old point lace
dawdled slow
   up to Cosgrove
 taking our meals
   . . around a blackened stove

our moveable house
    painted castle& rose
not a life
    we would have chose

Eighteen fifties harsh
&
mean
   coal cargo
 so nothing stays clean

doff your cap touch your forelock
every two mile
   at
the gatekeeper's lock

Fresh food scarce
     except for fish
perch & roach
       a staple dish

clothes dry
on a washing line strung
out for a timeout
  the toddlers young their
number so soon increased & grew
places to sleep
    all too few
family life impossibly hard
so back to a tied cottage
 in
Aylesbury's Anchorage yard

February Fourth Nineteen Ninety Nine

February fourth nineteen ninety nine...

Signified birth of our second bundle of joy
whereby linkedin chromosomes betwixt
the missus and I intimately expressed ourselves
and me would alloy
courtesy meiosis the miracle
of human reproduction would deploy
distribution of genetic material.

Full term newborn occured
Suburban Mercy Hospital birthplace
(2701 Dekalb Pike, Norristown, PA 19401)
nine months after spermatozoon gave chase
to ovulating ova
(cue all around the mulberry bush...
pop goes the weasel),
the former latter did embrace,
where sonogram revealed inchoate face

courtesy yours truly burst into
singing amazing grace
adoring newborn exquisite
as finely wrought lace
a biological daughter frisson
snap, pop, and crackling within myspace
automatically, immediately, and ultimately
ingratiating special place
within mine heart of darkness.

No greater purposefulness
exists than to behold thee alive
bearing witness regarding thee
exiting thru birth canal ye did dip and dive.

Tethered to umbilical cord
analogous to astronaut
linkedin to mother ship
bobbing and weaving
once forced out the womb

thru metaphorical fjord
inconsolable offspring crying,
no matter papa implored
though nonreligious, nevertheless
ofttimes paradoxically invoking lord.

How quickly orbitz around the sun sped away
crawling and climbing in no time
atop highest ledge utmost goal without delay,
which might help explain
mine premature hairs of gray
and your dare devilish more frightening
than being hunted down courtesy janissary
(or so I imagine) above exaggeration, I may

beg poetic license and pray
ye anonymous reader enjoy
reading about our precocious Shay
(Hebrew for beautiful)
progeny, who though developmentally challenged
frequently ordinarily calm, cool and collected dada
uttering stronger epithet than oy vey.

Now, one score plus two years
astride planet earth ye attest
to mine wide eyed opened amazement
buzzfeeding, snapchatting and livingsocial
(shutterflying a pinteresting life)

more so than me at twenty two,
no matter I did detest
living under same roof as parents,
cuz yours truly felt like
most unwanted guest!

Welcome to my home for this is where I'll stay
It's where I was born, and where I'll end my days

It rests on the banks, of the Caledonian Canal
Surrounded by it's Highland beauty, in typical enthral

Cedars, Firs and Birch trees, iconic in their settings
Rain clouds often surround us, cascades them in their wetting

Then there's the carpets of heather, that cover clannish grounds
Where you can tip toe over it's surface, and not even leave a sound

To view the blooms of gorse, and marvel at our thistles
Just leaves you so in awe, walking with a whistle

We appreciate what nature gives, these breathing awesome beings
To watch them in her wilds, we rub our eyes at seeing

We are steeped in wondrous history, some good and not so grand
But nowhere on this earth, will you have stepped on welcomed lands

So welcome to my home, of mountains and the glens
Where us Highlanders reside, the ultimate of men

Love On the High Seas

love on the high seas

He was a happy man, had passed the catering exam, and got employment as second cook on a tank ship
To make happiness perfect his girlfriend had a job on the same ship, keeping the crew's mess hall clean.
How long was Adam in Paradise?
The fall came in the form of a mellifluous-voiced sailor
that had a call of love she could not resist and after work
she listened to his vocalization until one evening she stayed all night before going back to the cabin she shared with the second cook.
Pale and devastated he came in the galley to make breakfast, but the cook sent him to the store-room to fetch prunes needed to stuff pork loins.
When he came back he held in his right palm a finger
lacking from the left hand; an accident he said, we knew
he had done this for love.
At the entrance of the Suez Canal, he was sent ashore but there were some delays and he came back onboard in Port Said, because the ship was bound for Antwerp it was cheaper to send the boy home from there
His girlfriend starry-eyed and in love thought she could move in with a sailor who had a beautiful voice, but he
looked morally upset and refused her advances which
of course, that was not true, he had had his fun and goodbye
The shock of the rejection made him see sense, the second cook and she became lovers again, and she had forgiven him
(he didn't ask for what) and he forgave her.
Happy again, they left the ship in Antwerp, to take the train home, and their adventure ended.

Four Cafes

Four Cafe’s

It was post digestion time, 10pm ! uncomfortable bloating causing a staggering stand, supported by the apartment windows brass clasp, the torn green velvet digestion chair lilted just beneath. Nested above the Canal Madeline, perched in a loft atop hundreds of lonely books, which i have not browsed ! their prison the De Krook. Afar beyond the cracked glass, out into the January month night, wildly dancing snowflakes cause a cataract pin pointed view of the culprit of indigestion
“ Cafe Croix de Fer”!
Along the frozen cobbles, Ale fuelled, in-firms trudge and trip precariously, fuelled “by many Trappist brews” towards “ Cafe Le repaire des ames perdues” I myself, visit this lair to regularly, its chestnut doors, spit tainted in past blood, open 24 hrs per day 364 days each year , “ No ! The one day is not Noel ! Its Cask day “ And, on this one day, i visit " Cafe Noir"
My tipple of choice is a hand of cards ! held in gloves tattered and fingerless. This addiction to be found in the basement of the Library, a Cafe,174 worn steps below me, name “ Enfer” my light purse, confirms this.

Premium Member Oh, the Beautiful Rideau Canal

On summer, fall, winter and spring days, I roar over jagged rocks,
how people love to come and watch my crashing journey!

The story of my life began in 1831, that is when I was created,
humans made me, before I was just a trickle, now I am beautiful;
eagles soar above my mighty, crashing waves and ducks visit my pools.

Bike paths and walking paths through lush greenery flank my sides,
even strong fish swim beneath my tempest;
and in the trees birds nest and chirp and tweet all day.
until night quiets their constant songs.
To visit me at night is a thrilling experience as my mist embraces you.
In the winter, I have a special beauty of snow covered rocks and frozen waves.
From a dam, I have a fifteen foot drop into a gorge that winds and bends for miles,
under the blazing sun, rain and snow I am a dangerous surging torrent;
loud my cobalt blue water crashes on ancient rocks creating a white foam.

Really I was created to divert water to a long winding canal system, I am the beginning,
I hear the sounds of laughter and see the tourists watching my rapid flow;
do they realize that sometimes I have claimed a swimmer or a fisherman?
Even those who have tried to kayak my rapids have failed,
and their life's ended tragically . . .
Until recently people could come a sit on the rocks close to my roar.

Can you not see how dangerous I can be? It is the nature of me,
and once I held a girl with hair as soft as a spider web;
nudging her, I carried her to my bank and she was saved by fishermen.
Always she visits me, in summer, fall, winter and spring,
lulled by my roar, she says that I am beautiful and still she loves me . . .

At Waikiki

I love to catch much of an ocean breeze under the palm trees
To greet ‘Aloha’ to the rising sun on east Diamond Head
To sip a cup of senior discount McCafe on a street-side bench
To join a citizen tossing crumbles for fish’ and birds’ snack
To gaze on sluggish cargo ships offshore and buzzing flights in the sky
To admire a herd of maroon surfers on the silvery surges
To walk alongside with Ala Wai canal chiming the crew rowing a canoe
To brush drops on the head of a sudden shower in broad daylight
To draw a colorful rainbow spanning the misty valley beyond the sea
To sniff the plumeria of lei in the stalls by Kalakaua Ave. and Kapiolani park
To relish a creamy dish of poi and a heaped spoonful shaved-ice
To print my steps on the sands and disperse the foam on the beach
To look on the hula dancers with waving hands and singing Alohaoe
To have a sweet chat with curious tourists from all over the world
To be a romantic promenader in couples strolling along the seashore
To revel in a tone and tempo of strings pricked of ukulele
To bid farewell to the gorgeous sunset over the horizon
To watch splendid fireworks on every Friday event in Sheraton
To stroll around for touting window-shop till the mall opens
To count elysian, bright stars in the full-moon night
To have a dream in dreaming islands of Oahu, Hawaii
I love to exclaim “Mahalo, Waikiki!”, most of all

Inside the Mind of a Woman

A gaggle of Mad Scientists
Shrunk me down in size
Placed me in a tiny syringe
Injected me into a woman's mind

They gave me special instructions
While there to look around
Report back to them immediately
All the mystery's to be found

I entered into this giant room
Dozens of doors surrounding the sides
I believe to be the main control center
I am a man in a woman's mind
(Wait a minute...that doesn't sound right)

I skip the rooms RESENTMENT, JEALOUSY,and GOSSIP
No need to open those
I've seen what they can do to a person
Best to keep them locked and forever closed

I come to the door labeled SEX
Being a man I try the knob first
Of course it's locked so I knocked and knocked
Go figure, there was no answer...

Before I realized what I was doing
I opened the door labeled NAGGING
All my ears hear is Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah
What in the world was I even thinking

I may be crazy but I ain't stupid
I also pass by the door I'M UGLY, I'M FAT
Why can't women see what the rest of us see
The inner beauty that they all seem to have

Right next door is the room that holds her feelings
I've never been so scared in my life
I do this in the name of science
And for the better of all mankind

As soon as the door swings open
I immediately break down and cry
I've got all of these mixed emotions
And I don't even really know why

I'm not sure if science was ready for this
As I climb out the ear canal blocked by a phone
Not much that a man can do in there
Best to leave well enough alone...
