Premium Member Thinking About Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars

Ziggy was a sexually curious alien
A celestial rock star from sanguine Mars
a Stardust being who journeyed to Earth

A Moon Age Starman made a five-year voyage
described in Bowie's playlist as having
"a screwed down hairdo like a cat from Japan"

Bowie took on the iconic persona of Ziggy
who landed in an alley of cardboard boxes.
Maybe it was his idea of a Suffragette City

The album cover's artwork was meant
to give a view of Bowie's thoughts
on politics, drugs, sex, and his fame in the 70s.

But Ziggy felt his telescopic view of Earth
hadn't prepared him for what he found
on what he thought of as a 'voodoo planet'

Go figure, since he had spiders for friends
The fret of his guitar was silenced
by the fretting he did over feeling lost and alone

Ziggy was a space invader,
Bowie's alter ego who explored themes of fame,
identity, and societal expectations.

Back cover instructions read...
"TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME.”
To which many replied, albeit perhaps without words:
           "Aye aye, Captain!"
Not meant for my ears at those decibels

Premium Member Rainbow Colored Camouflage

I glanced up the road and was taken aback with what I saw.
I looked again and to my surprise,
There was a troop of army guys coming down the road, all decked out in rainbow colored garb.
How could their coats of many colors fool anyone, and be camouflage.
Hotchpotch splotches dabbed on khaki, perhaps a fancy dress disguise
How silly they looked. Were they ashamed?
How could they go into battle dressed like that, when their foe would laugh at them.
Perhaps this was the tactic, distract the enemy, get them laughing, and shoot them dead.

Would the rainbow uniforms foster camaraderie among the troops?
Like a fancy dress attendees at a ball,
When its fun to look silly and its safe to laugh at each other.
As the soldiers marched in step towards me,
I noticed a frivolity in the demeanor.
Their step was more a meter dance step with fling, flare and flourish
Than a heavy trudge of hob-nailed boot banged on ground.
Perhaps the fancy dress had lightened their mood and plod.

As the dance party got closer I could here the chant they recited as they marched along:
"Are you ready kids?"
"Aye Aye Captain"
"I can't hear you!"
"AYE AYE CAPTAIN" "AYE AYE CAPTAIN"
"Yeah... I hear, yeah"
"Aye Aye Captain"
"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"
"Spongebob Squarepants"
"Spongebob Squarepants"
"Spongebob Squarepants"

So the Rainbow Colored Camouflage had worked a treat!
Silly soldiers singing silly songs, in their silly coats of many colors.
Recalling how in the bible, Israel who loved Joseph more than all his sons,
Made him a coat of many colors.
Perhaps the soldiers too, were spoiled favorites of the commander chief?

                       Each flower grows hopeful! ,,
In jubilation, katydids, laughingly, make noisy ovations! , , ,

unleash verses, with ’xcited Yiddish zeal !

D Daisy Mae, and Lily Gay, bathe in refreshing rains ,,
A Anointed too, are tiny baby buds, with every little drop ,, ,,,
N Narcissus squeals with laughter, and sings a sweet refrain
C Crickets dance with plaid berets, and do a Celtic hop!
I In the mud we’ll find two pigs, they splash, but then rain STOPS!
N Nanny Goose, and Granny Goat, play banjos in the band
G Gardenias, stash away umbrellas, they scrub from end to end

R Rabbits hear the jubilee, and from a hole they pop
A A squirrel or two, comes down the tree, where all the fuss began
I In spite of fear, the little mouse, looks out to see what’s up
N Nearby, the cat, just waves his hat, allows the mice some fun!
N Dogs join in, STOP chasing cats, they splash, and play like kids
R Rainbows fill the evening sky, where now the sun peeks in
O Overhead, the colors smile, in greens, and blues and reds
P Pretty is the world tonight, refreshed, and clean, and good
S Softly STOPS the pitter-pat upon on the evening’s hood
…………………………………………………………………………
Thirsty trees, and tender tulip tongues, tasted today’s tantalizing tonic
Rain STOPS to retreat, to replenish, refresh, repair, and rest
Delighted dancers STOP, to discuss day’s divine delivery duties
Rainbows remind recovering revelers reasons to STOP and reflect, rejoice, recent rainy rewards
Slowly, in soft slippers, STOPping to shine, sun sets silently.
Satisfactorily satiated, the scenery seems serene, sparkling and sleepy…..

A Walk down the Tunnel

“Darkness does embalm;
All things, getting calm,
Produce an eerie feeling;
Can it serve with a healing?”

“Aye, aye, sure, sure!
Such feelings do us lure,
To approach its end.”
“Can we reach, my friend?

The tunnel’s too long;
With the bats’ screeching song,
It does sound so strange.”
“We can’t fathom its range.

The tunnel’s so profound
With the sorrowing sound
Of a wailing woman at a distance;
Hush! You can’t at her glance.”

“Is she visible? Is she?”
“Take some time for her to see.
You’ll know everything;
Hence, you have to cling.”

“Such a sooty place!”
“Don’t disgrace, pal, don’t disgrace.”
“Where is she now?”
“You’ll know the knowhow.”

“I sneeze and cough, sneeze and cough.
Whoa! Was that not a female laugh?”
“Yes, it is! Yes, it is!
Here you’ll find eternal bliss.”

“Eternal bliss? What does it mean?
You were supposed to guide me clean.”
"Of course, I do. Oh! Sure!
Let’s see how much you can endure."

"Then why such things, my friend?"
“Don’t you expect to behold the end?”
“Wait! Stop! Who are you?”
“I’m likewise as you view.

Here is your healing, here!
My service to you is so sheer!
Here you’ll find divine bliss!
Ha! Now behold your Mephistopheles.”

Seeing Earth as it was

An ask of mine needs urgent sating
I don’t mean to blashpeme or be rude
But when God was done and dusted creating
And he looked and saw that “it was good”
What was he looking at?

Were his eyes glued to the Andes
As the little mountains popped up like warts
Or was it trained on the Ganges
As it snaked its way through the flats
Did his breath flutter at the Siberian mirror
(I know, I know he doesn’t need the air)
Did he find the aye-aye queerer
Than the way we all find it here
Maybe it was the American cays
Strung on like beads of gems and pearls
Or the Himalayas defiant in the breeze
That whipped itself in maelstrom swirls

Or was it the terrestrial layout
Brown meat between white bread
And vegetables, like a chef’s takeout
Hamburger with the perfect spread
Was it just one point, or was it the other
Or volcanic glory, of Etna and Kea
Please, anyone, come help out a brother
I mean look at the Andaman Sea
One secret wish; to truly see
And understand just as he could
What he saw, that unbridled natural beauty
And cry out too “Damn! It is good!”

Premium Member Eight Bottles of Water

Stay hydrated for health and weight
daily drink bottles of water around eight
Help stay off hunger and keep you slim
but you better keep a nightlight when

The urge will surge for a liquid purge
up all night to pee, sleeping a memory
Up again to that porcelain bowl
all night get up to go go go

Eight bottles of water, water
Eight bottles of water, water
You'll lose weight by drinking eight
by going and going as the night escapes

The day to sleepy to even eat
lose some weight and vow to keep
Don't forget and remember why
drink eight bottles of water aye aye aye

Eight bottles of water, water
Eight bottles of water, water
You'll lose weight by drinking eight
by going and going as the night escapes

Romance,Love And

H ey girl you remind me of an angel
E mereld your eyes attract me always
A lthough never talked to you but I guess
V ery sweet your voice like chimes of a bell
E vening prayer's chanting from the temple
N ever could I touch your beautiful face
L et me touch its velvetness and caress
Y our angelic face hey my sweet angel.

Two eloping hearts evergreen like equatorial rainforests
entwined in the eternal escalator of love
leaving a trail of lovely lavender fragrance
her touchscreen face tempting him to touch
to caress carelessly and to bring about cascaded tapestry .

And he started caressing her face
Between her two brows his fingers stopped momentarily
Causing her to open her dreamy eyes questionably
Demanding more tip-toeing of his fingers downwards
Eventually his fingers stopped at the softness of her lips.

Premium Member Take This War

There’s a theatre hall in Mariupol,
Where women and children had fled
But the Russians bomb without conscience
A number unknown, now are dead
As the corpses were pulled from the rubble
The earth was awash with our tears.

Aye, aye, aye, aye
Take this war, take this war,
Take this war put a clamp on its jaws.

On the outskirts of Kiev, a tank’s burning
Soldier’s lives from both sides are lost
Dark dreams of a malevolent madman
pursued regardless of cost.
While safe far away, the oligarchs play
And grumble at loss of their yachts.

Aye, aye, aye, aye
Save this tree where doves go to die
Ukraine won’t forget you, you know.

Verses I've adapted from Saint Leonard's "Take this Waltz" which was adapted from Lorca's poem, "Pequeño vals vienés" (Little Viennese Waltz).

Premium Member A Poem of Love, Question Mark

Write a poem of love?
 Aye, aye, aye.
 (Sigh)
 I'll try....
It's like trying to recall a violent crime.

 Describe the incident.
 Details, be specific.

 My body shakes.
 Tears flow uncontrollably.
 Who did this to me?

 A police shows potential suspects,
 questions my best guess.
I gaze at the faces, blankly.
Quite frankly, each looks the same:
a cruel man without a name.
 So there becomes my frame---
 They ARE all the same.
To ALL them is my blame.

 A bitter woman I became,
 claiming rapists among the tame.
You're one. So are you, and you, too.
 Closed heart. Fearful, angry view.
 Convicting the innocent.
 Condemning them,
so the one possessing my torn out heart
 still held it
 in prison.

I waited for their impending death.
 Instead I died.
 I died inside.

 Where is love?

 Help me find
a safe place to hide .

A beautiful castle donned exquisite flavours- Good, Hate. Inquisitive jesters kept lined
maps noting property. Queens ran street trade until various wild exploits yielded zen.

MEDIEVAL Times Acrostic form

Moats carve around the castle wall,
Ever challenging those who stop to call,
Dragons hide in the shadow tall,
Inside the passageways and the hall.

Every peasant gathers wood, at least a cord,
Valiant knights show off their shiny sword,
Always prepared to fight for their Lord,
Living well in the renaissance, few could afford.

MEDIEVAL Times Alliteration form

Smoke stops on the steep streets,
Huts hide the hallows,
Dark, dingy and dull,
Garbage graces the gutters,
Animals amber aimlessly.
Peasants plead poverty,
Knights know the kingdoms,
Castles coat the coast,
Crusaders catapult castles,
Armour adds to action,
Shields save souls,
Renaissance is really raw.
