shades of black and white, the angels dance -
lauded, first flowering of Spring.
like a royal crown, the praisers go ‘round -
the cherubim celebrate
with flute, flag and gold harp.
stirs, the thawing soil, the sunlight cheering
with the scent of pine, potent chlorophyll
and rain - the first sign of Spring endearing.
a hope that lifts up mankind - God’s good will.

Meal from barley loaves and fish
A boy with a wish
They all had a blessed fish plate
Five thousand plus ate
Words from the Savior
Souls filled with
Food!

wind swept warring deluge roars past
mighty trees bow low to its commands
splatter of rain in geometric rule
tinkling furious on glass
branch flies from parent tree
nature no slave to invitations of science
it does not have to pretend to knock at its door
rolling dark clouds, thunder, lightening are its signs
an invading torrent has rushed in to explore
obedient trees
bow low to unhindered flow...
nourished cleansed they glow

As sunset fades to darkest night
the stars awaken and come to life.
Thousands of the celestial jewels,
adorn the black velvet sky,
twinkling with pure delight.
And there in luminous allure,
is the queen of the moonlit night;
the full and golden wanton moon,
wooing lovers with her mystical light.
Beneath full moon's glow
under canopy of stars
lovers pledge their troth
yielding to love's siren call
magic dwells in moonlit nights.

Abandoned as a little kitten...
You’ve been my constant companion
Velvet padded paws hiding such sharp claws
Sleek silky silver grey coat
My furry feline friend
Kitty when you were younger
You’d bring home a tiny mouse
Now we are both arthritic
And confined to our small house
You climb on my lap
Purring so contentedly
I stroke your soft fur
Soon we are both fast asleep
Approaching our twilight years
It takes four Poetry Contest

~At The Doctor's Office~
(5-7-5- /- Tanka)
An elderly man
goes into doctor's office
for his physical
after a while the
doctor comes out, then says
sorry Bill, but we
discovered you have
a condition which only
allows you to live
another six weeks
"but doctor" Bill replied," I
really feel great
haven't felt better
in years, this just can't be true,
an'thing I can do?
Doctor, just thought for
a moment and said to Bill
well, you might start by
going down the street
to that new "Health Spa" and take
a mud bath each day
Excitedly Bill
Asked," And will that cure me Doc?
"No" Replied the doc,
after a little while, but,
will get you used to the dirt.
