Down many of the coalmines in Yorkshire , Safety dictated that an alternative means of escape
had to be found just in case anything ever happened to the shafts that raised and lowered miners to their work.
This usually involved keeping a single route open underground to the next nearest colliery .
Old George waiting by the mineshaft
Spitting his chewing tobacco juice
Today with his apprentice
They must survey the mines escape route .
1000 yards underground
In darkness as black as pitch
They reach up to their helmets
Turning on the headlamp switch.
George prodding at the timbers
That support the roof and sides
His apprentice grows more nervous
With every single stride .
A mile down the escape route
The roof is seven feet high
They see a little fallen rock
but manage to squeeze by .
The roof is getting lower
George hears the scurrying of mice
Brought down the mine in bales of hay
When pit ponies and the miners destiny were spliced.
The apprentice is visibly shaking
but only one more mile to go
When a piece of falling timber
Dealt his torch battery a glancing blow.
George could see the boys panic
and as the leader of his team
He reassured his apprentice
Then they shared the single beam .
Suddenly they hear a crack like thunder
Then the splintering of wood
George pushes his apprentice
but a fall of rock stands where George stood.
Young boy on his hands and knee's
Screaming Georges name
More terrified by the second
When no answers came.
Now in total blackness
He inhabits the world of the blind
If he is to help his leader
The boy must use his senses and his mind .
The faintest hint of breezes
He feels on his face
Air sucked down the mineshaft
Just might be his saving grace
He crawls along the jagged floor
Using his sense of touch
Soon in the distance he hears machinery
A sound he has never loved so much .
He tastes the ever freshening air
Hope inside him grows
Then the tiniest speck of flickering light
His tears overflow.
Help, Help, he's calling
As the miners come into view
Two men want to hep him to the surface
Burt he awaits his friends rescue.
Old George didn't make it
He sacrificed himself to save the boy
Broken hearted the boy had a breakdown
and had to leave the mines employ.
The boy became a father
Then a wonderful granddad
but he never tired of telling the story
of the best friend he ever had.
Let it be that - we are simply disconnected
And all of it that was before is now neglected.
Just as in an international call
And I'll stop knowing what you whisper all
Over her right ear,
Petting her mere
Hair. Listening to the cheerful imps
Of your disturbing thoughts. A glimpse.
And recognizing every rustle
Around you. A twitching muscle.
Here's the sound of keys jingling,
Here are her fingers mingling
With your fringe, here's the wind strangled in the curtains,
The load of memories it burdens...
Sms beep, the block is off,
The parquetry squeaks yet the steps are easy,
Flick of a lighter and that's it - the tone. How cheesy...
And I'll stay a bit in the telephone booth
Reciting poems of my youth.
Awaiting for the firing of invisible squadrons in my temples to cease.
Oh would I ever feel the ease?
Of simple being, I'm happy as old colonel Frehley
Who died with a reciever in his hand.
Let it be that as if it's five years past.
And we are all steady here at last.
We're not as booming with the decibels,
But we're worth a 1000 for a ticket.
There might as well be time for cricket.
We are working like real men,
Making money as easy as trimming a bush. We stem.
We're not giving our minds any downtime.
What's mine is mine.
And I am aware of what I am worth.
It doesn't matter that nobody is willing to pay the price.
We run in circles just like mice.
We meet and knock back three
Glasses of Chilean semi dry and you look at me.
And then you say "I am pround of you, Polozkova!"
But no - nothing breaks inside me.
That August we were still drinking outside
And you were wearing
My jacket - we are joking, singing and smoking...
Probably you never knew that from that night on you
Become the protagonist of my hysterics and mimes. All anew.
One day we'll recall this -
And wouldn't be able to believe it ourselves...
Let it be that my vim and naughtiness
Are back; My slouch and flabbiness
Are gone; And nothing's beating me inside
No pain within me would reside.
And there's no need to write
My poems. How can I ignite?
Let it be that I don't sob hoarsely with every chorus
Just like a dyed-haired singer with little morals.
How nice that you're sitting
In front of the screen and thinking
That you're reading
Of somebody else.
Form:
I hate it when I think of you.
With no consideration of my schedule, or the details of my life.
Just as inconsiderate as a memory
As you were when you were here.
At first it’s unintimidating – a fleeting image.
Passing by innocently like a pedestrian at a crossway.
And then there comes the pain.
A sense of longing in the wake of a smile, in a laugh, in a crinkle of the eye
In the bundle of bedsheets that used to wrap around our ankles
Laying in that bed for hours.
I'd read both of our horoscopes
and you would watch the news.
The same bed where you told me
you loved me
for the very first time.
In the joke you told that wasn’t funny then
But makes me smile now.
And it hurts like hell.
No need for pretty words or thoughtful images.
Just hurts like hell.
And then there comes the anger.
Of the times you stood me up
and the drugs you never stopped.
In the way you couldn’t love – and how I gave you all I had.
In the way you’d steal my pills
And every single lie
In the photos you would always hide
And how you never valued me
How you got better once I left
And for a while, I got worse
How I had to go and save myself
When I saved you 1000 times
And then there comes the sickness
filled with hate and vengeance
You never once deserved me
And I stayed for far too long.
And I take a drag and let
myself feel anger one more time.
And mourn the time I stayed behind
And the youth I buried there.
Then I put the burning ember of
my cigarette in the tray
I vow to find an outlet
Till these thoughts stop coming back.
A bottle won’t fix nothin'
A man would make it worse
I never asked for you to come
take hostage of my mind.
Don’t you know how busy I am?
that I have other things to do?
I have bills to pay and classes to finish.
I have laundry to do and dishes in the sink.
I have to quit smoking and need to lose weight.
I have a quarter tank of gas and I’m short on my rent.
I have projects due at work
and my pets need to be fed.
My dad is getting sick again -
Did I pay the gas this month?
Tell me brain, can we stop this now?
Time to let this ******** go right now.
Stressin' to the max, right now.
Gotta find our own way through right now.
We don’t have this kind of time, brain.
We don’t have this kind of time.

OUR TIN POT NAVY so THEY SAID in 1914 Sydney in the first World War 1
In 1914 German cruisers were cut loose
and Emden she was one…………….…(fired 38lb shells)
the Indian ocean she did for hunting choose
and 9 ships were sunk by gun…….
Then she sailed and shelled Madras , I say
captured 10 more ships, when off Ceylon…
Penang harbour a night visit,… hey!
sank Frog and Ruski warships, and was gone ….(Emden was daring!)
November 8, morse code it said… strange ship a passing there,
out near Cocos island, the German raider caused a stir
Cruiser Sydney she raced west at 25 knots or more
And sighted wily Emden who opened fire for sure
Sydney took 15 hits before, she then hit back …..(with 100lb shells)
blew away her steering gear and knocked her funnels flat (Emden)
.. ………..demise………..
The Scrap Iron Flotilla they said in 1940
Light Cruiser Sydney in World War 2
Light Cruiser Sydney had some 6 inch guns
she met Italians in the med.
sank destroyer Espero not for fun
in nineteen forty, yes its said
17th july Sydney was on patrol, when,
she was called into a fight
2 Italian cruisers waited, then,
sprung some pommy destroyers in flight....(pommy English)
Yes Sydney came to even up
the poms out gunned for sure
when she arrived with blazing guns
the Italians run for shore
Bande Nere and Colleoni rushed a bit
made smoke to get away
Band Nere then she took a funnel hit
as Sydney passed her way
Collenoni then she wore the brunt
stopped dead by Sydney's shell
so Band Nere escaped the hunt
Sydney's out of ammo… well?.:)
But if you live by the sword you die by the sword
cunning German's had their day
Sydney met a ship with hidden guns aboard
Raider Kormoran made her play
Kormoran she hid behind a Dutch flag
and when Sydney came in range ………a sitting duck ... 1000 yards
she fired first, jerked down the rag……...old navy trick
two equals did exchange………………….similar guns…
Though mortally wounded Sydney, still,
had some guns to fire,
x turret still fired with a bitter will
burnt Kornoran …'the liar'…….Don Johnson
……….demise of both……….
No trace of the Sydney sailors ...Kormoran sailors made it to the barren west coast of
Australia
and were interned as P.O.Ws....Almost seems like Karma with payback by the German navy...
Business is booming and there's no end in sight, Death came to a huge
decision tonight.
He called in his partners Pain and Sorrow and said "we're holding auditions
tomorrow."
"Auditions, Pain asked, what are you looking for?" For a third partner and he
reached for the door.
The very next morning hanging there on the wall, was a huge flyer
reading "DEATH'S OPEN CALL"
Come one come all but you better give your best audition, because we only need
to fill one position.
As the day moved along Sorrow watched in disbelief, next in the line was his old
buddy Grief.
Grief walked in and handed them his lengthy resume', thank you for coming
friend you'll know by the end of the day!
The auditions had been going on steady for hours, the decision would be tough,
they all had great powers.
Next in line would be Misery and he gave them his best, "Thank you for coming,
wait outside with the rest".
Death having some free time sat in on the last few, after over 1000 auditions it
was now time to choose.
Death left the decision up to Pain and Sorrow; they would just fill him in by
tomorrow.
All that he asked was they used their best discretion, when suddenly in walked
the vixen Depression.
With eyes dark as night dressed all in black, she walked to the stage and the pair
just sat back.
She said, "Am I too late for this open call? I just happened to notice the flyer on
the wall."
We'll give you a shot now show us what you can do; this is only because we've
both heard of you.
They told her to give it her best shot and that's just what she did, for her first
victim a sweet little kid.
His name was Billy he was only 13, she found him alone sitting out on a swing.
You see he had just lost his parents in a huge fire; to be with them again was his
only desire.
She climbed in his head and she did her thing, Billy took his life right there on the
swing.
"WOW" they exclaimed lady you are good, come with us now to see the "man with
the hood".
A new chapter has started with Death’s open call and it all started will a flyer on
the wall.
No longer a trio, now a quartet, a new force to be reckoned with this you can bet!
Here is 1 for
Ring , Ding
The phone goes
Hello bud want to go out for a drink
Meet you at your house at 6
Hello bud how's it going
lot's to catch up on
Now let's fast forward a little
more and bit later
A single step since entering the
bar
The 1 friend who phoned to invite
his friend out for a drink
Says mines a pint you get the
drinks in
I've got some spare coins i want
to throw into the slot machine
won't be long grab us both a chair
so long
Half and hour or more later sat
alone his friend returns and
eventually re-joins him
Downs his pint and says i just
won 400
But friend No 2 refrained from
saying well done my mate get the drinks in tonight's on you
Because he knows rather than
that what he is bound about to
say is this
Couldn't lend me 20 could you
please mate
I won and was 400 up but
threw it all back in plud another
100 my night out spending
money chasing the 1000 jackpot
Actually mate can you make that
50 i'll pay you back when i get
paid
I know that jacpot is poised
and about to pay out any second
now
Thanks your a good mate then
proceeds to the bar only
to get change
Forgets about buying his mate
a drink or the fact he has left
him sat all on his lonesome
Even though he is the 1 who
actually invited him out in
the 1st place and it is his
50 he is about to gamble
away and loose
And when and after he losses that
as well like a spoilt child says
to his friend
That's totally ruined and spoiled
my night out completely
Get us 1 final drink for the road
mate im off home
I don't know why i even bothered
to come out in the 1st place
Or more to the point
Why or how you have any friend's
left
Given the fact this happens not
some of time but the majority
of the time
And worse than that you know
you have hit the lotter friend's
jacpot
When the lesser of 2 evils
Is choosing between this 1
Or the other 1 who has 2 drinks
turns into a spiteful drunk and
blames the world for everything
Who would try and wants to
cause and could start a fight
in a graveyard
Or punch a vicar if he wasn't
willing to hand over his holy
communion wine stash
Malfunction, malfunction
Says the broken machine, cold and clean
Mal...mal...malfun....malfun...malfunction
Error, error
System overload, overlapping with firewall breakdown
What, what, what's the protocol
Answer to the dial tone at all
Blank, the direct word you're looking for blank you bland suit
Don't sue, you can't sue me
You're wearing blue
Error, error
This does not compute
Wait what does compute mean again
Rattle my cages, erase the bonding stripes
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be tuna in a tin can
Listen to the waves of Coke fizzling down your throat
Does it tickle or does it hurt
No wait don't tell me
It hurrrrrrrrrrts like a 1000 gigahertz
I'm worth a foot in the door, phantamgasmore
Penelope Tate is Pepper Ann
Beautiful and frail come & get me
Save the day
Well dont just stand there, kiss the girl
So says a singing crab at the bottom of the sea
A hole in the bottom of the sea
Repeated by once a one year old singing Brian Adams
Error...error...system malfunction
M...m...m...my world seems to malfunction around me
My karma, my bad luck, they run amuck over me
I want to kick, scream
Scream profanities but I can't open my snake like jaws with malice
So I'll just shout out at the sky instead
But did I forget who I am
A being of circuits and wires
Why...why...why...why...do I feel the need to be human
I can't sleep, I can't see without some sort of light
I aim to please my creators, my employers
Everyday I break down, I break down, I break down
Filling with steam and smoke
Rising from anger but can I feel anger
Do I feel anything
Wait am I supposed to feel anything
Error...error...error...error
System malfunction
Abandon this time machine, over and out captain
Says Claudio in a war with imaginary beings unable to understand the things they do to themselves
This disillusioned mann...mann...manner of thinking
This hard rip right into the hip, a cold tip pressed to the ear
But I don't have ears, just an antenna
I think, I can't think at all
Error...error...system mal....

~I don't need, In case you haven't heard~
I don't need to strip for no crown, unless you desire large breast
Casarah, there's no need to be deluded by money hungry psychics,
Reading leaves from a tea cup, a misguided fortune of bribes
Can't you see satin gold already streams through my veins
It's not about wanting it bad or how low I would go
I don't need to threaten you or order dominoes
Never would I clean or do your chores,
Rather, I bet you look good dressed as a French Maid
Cleaning and writing around the beauty of everything
Forget the honorable mention, I want first place
This is your week, blank out the pretenders, fakers and haters
They will never have your back once the contest close
As for me, you've been on my dinner plate, since day one
I don't need a grammar base pen, rhyme pattern to win
What I got is hotter, by far the best rates on everything
I don't need Jan to be my friend, Andrea, to address me with a hello
What I have is satisfaction and loyalty everywhere I go.
I got flaws hotter than the sun, strutting my stuff just for you
No need to scratch my back, what we need is a back massage for two
Calgon will give us the youth Greek Gods can't top in 60 seconds
Unwrap yourself from Broken vines, it's time you deal with--
a moon as gold as every word you ever poured from your pen
Let's enjoy the Groveling moon, together we can enslave and take control
You don't need a genie lamp, you are worth more than diamonds and pearls
Together we can toss that lamp back into the Silent of the shadows
Before, greed becomes a misery --- Casarah darling
I got to admit 1,000.000.000 dollars sounds decent
Too bad, Michael's check bounced before it had a chance
Together let's take these sweet little bribes and make the world of it
Flip the bird, burn down all abandon houses
Built another strong community, wait, something is amiss!
Someone owes a gambling debt, coming to you with casino chips
Casarah, I'm not trying to please your mind, or give voice to my bride
I don't NEED to give what you already earn in your honest way
What I want is to win, no attorney needed - I rest my case

So Simple
Some say it is only make-believe
and so the Israelites could not conceive
what God had in store,
and so Isaiah away doth fled
to the mountain top, where his clothes did shred
and cried "our message they don't believe dear Lord",
that their
ears made for hearing
did not hear,
and heart made for feeling
did not feel,
and eyes made for seeing
did not see,
and minds made for thinking
did not think,
and strength made for enduring
did not endure,
and necks made for turning
did not turn,
and hands made for mending
did not mend;
so, God was angered and jealous
thus made angry and jealous Israel
save 1000 times seven,
and gave the gift of Salvation to whom He Promised not:
those whose
ears made for hearing
did not hear,
and heart made for feeling
did not feel,
and eyes made for seeing
did not see,
and minds made for thinking
did not think,
and strength made for enduring
did not endure,
and necks made for turning
did not turn,
and hands made for mending
did not mend,
and so angered were they that they killed His Son,
thus fulfilling God's love for everyone,
that the world be not condemned but saved,
by Jesus Christ beyond the grave,
who paid the price
with his sacrifice
and gave us what we truly desire
everlasting life
to live in love and not in strife
nor everlasting death by fire,
and in our happiness
from our mouths by what we confessed
receive God's everlast love that we might possess
ears for hearing,
a heart for feeling,
eyes for seeing,
a mind for thinking,
strength for enduring,
necks for turning,
and hands for mending
that so simply if we believe,
in our heart and with mouth profess,
God is our providence
death shall become powerless,
that everlasting life will be our reward.
