To you, the one I leave behind, I write,
Not clothed in grief, but wrapped in tender song.
Though parting comes, as surely comes the night,
Our souls have known a bond both deep and strong.
No tear can dim the love that once was ours,
Nor silence steal the echoes of your name.
I go where time dissolves like falling stars,
Yet what we shared, no ending can disclaim.
Think not of loss, but of the life we made,
Of laughter sown, of gentle hours we knew.
Though shadows fall, let memory never fade,
But bloom eternal, evergreen and true.
So take this peace, though flesh and breath resign:
My heart will forever walk with the one I left behind.

I think of those I knew who’ve passed
And what they’ve left behind,
Impressions that remain engraved
In caverns of my mind.
Perhaps just an expression
Or some laughter we once shared
Or a reaching-out connection
Where our truest selves were bared.
I conjure up some habits
That endeared or else annoyed
Which, for reasons I don’t know,
Have yet to vanish in the void.
We write our wills, bequeathing
What we treasure to our kin,
But the best of us we leave behind
Is what resides within.

You’re always my first thought when I wake up each day,
Whether times are rough, or they seem like paradise.
When I need it most, you always know what to say
And you always bless me with wonderful advice.
But, I don’t know what I will do after you’re gone.
That first day will be different from the others.
Just know that my first thought will continue each dawn
To be loving memories of you, dear mother.

What a good question is this,
I read it on Facebook's blip,
What, Willie Nelson does ask.
Are teen leaving us? The task!
Old Willie and Keith Richards, lo!
They really need to know,
Pickled on booze, sex and drugs,
No healthy vegie juice to chug,
Aging is a blast, free hugs!

Too often
someone stretches the truth until it becomes the lie
and then defends its falsehood for all to hear and believe in
but some wiser ones sense the truth that lay hidden
grab it by its fallacies and turn the tide to see reality,
no denial, no deferment, no deflection, no delusion, no defense,
only a bastille of truth to be reckoned with.
Which direction do you go
holding onto untruths, errors, mistakes, missteps, outright lie
of the braggarts and the bullies, the loudest shouters in the room
or sweep away every lie to see the steps you're taking
to mold and secure the futures for our children, all children
knowing historic lessons of time
that what we leave behind - is us and what we believe in,
truth, justice, the American Way.

I stood on a stage where I assumed I couldn't be fixed...
I thought a broken heart was the end as my clock ticked...
Then the curtains were raised and I saw many that were the same...
Through words and frienships I could erase the blame...
I wiped away reflections that haunted my walls...
But I built up wisdom for the next time it falls...
Left with a heart made with undried tears and invisable cracks...
But a stronger soul that stays intact...
Strange as it may seem I need the pain...
Because when all is well it keeps me sane...

Leave behind your shadow
For its a piece of who you are
You lead a life full of memories
Hard work
Joy & great tears
But
If you leave behind your shadow
A piece of you will last beyond your years
Every human is a treasure
For whom will leave a mark
All your efforts will have been worth while
As you reach the light after its been dark
Leave behind your shadow
Leaving a part of you along your way
Leave behind your shadow
For your essence is here to stay

We all have brothers, fathers, uncles
and friends that we love dearly,
but when it comes to the antics
of males in relationships, we often wonder
if they know the meaning of the
phrase, "Get a grip!"
The endless charades they perpetuate,
and even when they get caught red handed,
They still try to evade and save themselves
from shame,
It is said, when men fall in love, they drop
harder than a rock, yet, when they make
death defying exits, why is it, that they cause
everything from heartbreaks to heart attacks?
Never looking back to assess the carnage they
left behind, because in a warped place in their minds,
everything seems fine,
They continue business as usual,
while women look as if they are
obsessed, crazed fools, clinging to
memories that were never there
in the beginning.

I woke smelling smoke as I lay in bed
Suddenly my mind was filled with great dread
From my window I could see flames leaping
So much had been lost as I was sleeping
With heat and pungent smoke my house was rife
Decided to jump out to save my life
‘Twas then I heard my cat starting to choke
My compassion little Boots did evoke
I grabbed her up quickly in my left arm
Together we jumped, saving us from harm
Gems aplenty in my jewelry box
In a room filled with priceless antique clocks
But Boots meant more than all of these combined
She was one thing I could not leave behind

looking for somewhere that I've never been
all alone and in between
the place I come from and
the place that I'm in
the place I left behind
there's a few things I don't know
some things hidden, I don't want to see
things come and things go
here today, gone tomorrow
here for a minute, gone in an hour
now it all just goes to show
I needed you less than you need me
I offer sweet tea and sympathy
if you can't trust me who do you believe
those things which we will not speak
words that leave us weak
utterances of nothing pledged
lips that won't spit them out
this place I come from
this place that I'm in
this place I leave behind

Earthly possessions Are a waist of time. Why do we focus on what we must leave behind?
We obsess over it. We kill for it. We will sell our souls just to own it. So why? When we die
it's all left behind. Such a big waist of time! The money we use to buy these materialistic
items, all left behind. The biggest part to the evilness that money creates. For shame they
put "In God We Trust" on the face of there evil. If you lack or choose not to be greedy.
Your looked upon as trash, scum, and evil. If you gain to much then you turn evil. Shouldn't
we be more focused on things like heaven, spirituality, kindness and truth? Gaining more
wisdom and molding our youth? Applying those good things. Putting spare time to good use.

Your tears melt
This winter’s mask
They flow into
This quite past
Yet, I do regret
These tears,
We leave behind

I touched upon an old handkerchief
That sent my mind to better days
The scent of perfume was held within
As the image of you left me crazed
Alive you were again standing before me
That smile only you possessed, held me dear
It was as if you had never left me
Still standing close, so very near
Each time I hold something you left me
So many things then come to mind
But I only see the positive, the beauty
For that is what you left behind…
Memories left for me to find
