This Place I Leave Behind

looking for somewhere that I've never been
all alone and in between
the place I come from and
the place that I'm in
the place I left behind

there's a few things I don't know
some things hidden, I don't want to see
things come and things go
here today, gone tomorrow
here for a minute, gone in an hour

now it all just goes to show
I needed you less than you need me
I offer sweet tea and sympathy
if you can't trust me who do you believe
those things which we will not speak
words that leave us weak
utterances of nothing pledged
lips that won't spit them out

this place I come from
this place that I'm in
this place I leave behind

Sometimes we need to hear those words, J.B. A very thought-provoking write. Love, Carolyn

Thank you for sharing your poetry J B. Poets here offer such diverse writings and to me it is a pleasure to read each and everyone. I will not be here at the Soup to read from Friday through Monday. I hope you will find mountains of inspiration during that time. I look forward to reading when I return. Have a great weekend. Love, Carol
