my son is having weekly online lessons. with
a tutor. that is an assertive declarative fact.
and so is the asiatic toad.
ploughing represents life.
clumsy, stumbling stuff
i now own five different lanyards around my neck
and can get into many places with confidence.
cullinan diamond.
the tutor is a university student. he asks, 'my dad
wants to know what music university students
are listening to nowadays.'
she replies, 'soft rock and pop.'
what happened to the Plastic Ono Band?

Febrile Fog obfuscates palimpsest varnished promises..
Naysayers hoodwinked... deluded players peeling layers..denuded..
Deafening din of our chagrin...
Espoused by rabbles roused by mandarins’ sins..
Tarnished...pampered pilferers pickpocketing public purses...
Deploring the warring cacophony of citizens curses..
Ignoring the boring nagging nadir of nurses...
Corporate castles built without stilts on hourglass sands..
Placards versus lanyards..
Culprits preach parsimony from privileged pulpits..
Civic critics.. protests...pyrrhric..?
No tut tuts..relax…gluts of tax cuts for property sluts..
Licentious larcenists..lust for boom then bust..
Lavishly lacing our lives with lies..
Yet the more we holler...hanker..
Murky truths get darker...muckier.. starker..danker..
Avaricious arsonists torching our cries of why...
Leave us lolloping in a regret & forget.. leaking latrine...
Reeking of what could & should have been..

Never in secluded pools they dwell,
I speak of ornate waterfalls,
they rise and fall majestically,
near docks, wharves and piers,
sparkle, gleam, smooth flow trickle,
eye balm whirl fantastic perk on tap,
stickybeak on podium rapids,
instigator signage when our trek seems dull,
but reflection is a gem warp cataract,
kinetic rebound ocean wave backbeat,
which in fact an upfront blissful target,
hardly ever missing opal bulls-eye,
environmental bubbles that somehow never burst,
indulge outlandish fare Promethean,
spurt on vermillion lanyards pendant sweep,
dream paint sunrise clementine tincture,
daub acrylic spree through pale moon orb,
squeeze tube lambent hue past frail mandala,
eternal sepia a light touch pristine shroud,
that loiters over urban life force ripple,
flaunt your image rich abundant fire

At camp, we braided lanyards
And spent hours in the pool.
We both dressed and acted differently
From when we were in school.
We played kickball, softball, newcomb
And rehearsed the yearly play,
Plus did arts & crafts and puzzles,
Mostly on a rainy day.
Once or twice throughout the summer
We would take a trip to town
For a movie or for bowling
Or to scarf some ice cream down.
It was low-key, sweet and simple
With no shooting for the moon,
Just a bunch of kids and counselors
‘Til the early afternoon.
What a far cry from what’s offered
Nowadays, but guaranteed
All those fancy bells and whistles
Are much more than campers need.

roses and rainbows
unicorns and uniforms
lanyards covered with teddy bears and hearts
everything sunny and happy here
until the pretty pediatric nurse takes out her stethoscope
When all hell breaks loose

If nothing existed before we began,
Is Earth an illusion, a figment of man?
From nothingness comes oneness and from oneness despair;
Man sees not contempt yet breathes the same air.
Man's not separate from the thoughts he doesn't see;
No more than the droplet to the mist of the sea.
Is the grain of the wood just a lifeless, empty soul;
A part of the bigger picture, yet not part of the goal?
Are the waves of electric any less because we do not see?
Are the zephyrs off the oceans only nonentities?
If man doesn't believe that which he doesn't see;
Explain conception and fertility.
Questions abound as answers go unexplained;
Man exists under God on his own level plane.
Humanity exists only in the minds of mortal men;
Conception is whence we start over again.
From nothing we came and to dust we shalt go,
Our transient existence extant like a field of new fallen snow.
Our minds are our lanyards in the portals of time,
Our psyches our guide to God' Will sublime.

Memory Lane
There was a time eons ago,
when peanut butter and jelly did it for me.
When the best sound in the whole world was
the sound of the recess bell!
Even the ground beneath my feet was fascinating
full of sparkly bits, I thought were gold!
Sheets of mica peels into silvery layers...
delighting the eye, reflecting the sun of August.
There was a time, I still remember when,
lacing lanyards was a high skill
and flicking cat-eye marbles well
gave even the most bullying boys a thrill.
I remember then, when plump blackberries
were a prize and green apples stolen from the farmer
filled my spaghetti strapped one piece suit,
for certainly no nubile breasts had sprouted yet!
Fond memories, seldom visited but lingering...
on the fringe of end time.

Red White and blue
Stripes and stars jerkily rise to the top of the pole.
Stop wave in the wind flap flap flap
Then still unfurled lower slowly
Colors contrasting with misted greens in back ground trees
Stopping at half mast
To hang waving toward the waiting earth
His hands wrap the lanyards fast
Close the cover
Slip on the clasp
then drop to his thighs.
Three hornets
Wing out of the box
swirl ignored around his head
Then return to enter
under the re closed door.
For his absent friend
Death has begun to
Firmly settle in.
