Premium MemberWas he Laughing at Her

She dropped a white Corelle ware dish
tiny slivers and bits flew all over the kitchen
her husband did not make one sound
He understood to keep mum

She gave her old man a sharp look
Was he going to say something?
He had warned her not to put that dish on top of the refrigerator.
Was he going to say “I told you so?”

He did not even glance in her direction.
She wondered about it.
It was bizarre behavior.
Most people looked at a crash.

An hour later she caught him on the phone laughing.
Was it about her?
This was the olden days when phones had cords.
She sneaked up behind him, angry now.
He never laughed again.

Why wine

so many gallons of it, of highest quality,
smooth but potent: where did it come from?
the servants who filled the jars with water
have the clue, but must keep mum;
most guests, incurious, gratefully quaff it

he’d first refused his mother’s hint, but she
told the servants to do whatever he said,
confident, it seemed, in his generosity,
not to say frivolity, in using such power,
towards hospitality, even drunkenness

since this time and place, wine
can claim religious respectability,
and must be on the menu of any posthumous paradise,
as ambrosial at least as that at Cana,
with the tasteful byline ‘a little taste of heaven’

Deathiversary

Perplexed and dismayed
In the seeming misery.
This bewildered soul so abashed
Within the bodied figure so jittery.

Daunted her deep-felt presence
He wonders, if lost.
Heart sobs within, in cold sweat sequence
To what does this cost.

Uncertainty seemed a bedrest
One not pleasing to behold.
In what way does this become a test
Yet the mind feels a stronghold.

He mumbled through the dark intermittently
Ferreting a glimmer of hope to come.
Braced skillfully and Concomitantly
The love of her succor draws Him not to keep mum.

Kill Devil Anger To Grow Stronger

Anger is a poisonous seed
To doom, it will surely lead
To throw it away, I plead
As it will make mind bleed

Anger is highly dangerous
Its demolition is vigorous
It will stop totally progress
Punishment being rigorous

To stop anger, keep silent
Make yourself just absent
Be damn calm cent percent
So that you will not repent

Anger may severely surge
But, your mind, never divulge
In expression, do not indulge
Victoriously you will emerge

Anger makes one very mad
Reputation turns damn bad
Peace of mind can't be had
All the parties become sad

No anger makes you a sage
That contains only advantage
Peace is for that sage a wage
Anger causes only damage

Keep mum and utter not a word
As angry words are sadly heard
Let kind words only be delivered
Let bliss and joy be transferred

Kind words medicate and cure
Help and support they assure
So that troubles all can endure
Kindness is the best, I am sure.

Premium MemberI Am a Writer Too

You’re a writer? I am too. My brother is. My father is. We all write.
I am asked to critique, but I refuse, for I am not a critic or an influencer.
My muse Trixie yells things - kick them, run away, hit them in the head.
She is much more daring than I and cares not for social cues.

When I write something politically outrageous, I blame Trixie.
She loves the attention – twirling with happiness at the acclaim.
My show-off, extraverted personae; I am the one who slinks away.
Drawing cartoons about you, to appease my other selves.

I write ten to thirty poems a day; this may not sound like much.
But I had this as my goal three years ago, and I have met it.
I am constantly writing around my job, you cannot ask people though.
They do not know. They think I am typing important stuff for work.

I am throwing poems and stories onto clean crisp white pages.
I stop everything I am doing when humans come in with spying eyes.
I do not tell anyone I am a writer; okay, maybe two people know.
The rest of them would just say “I’m a writer too” so I keep mum.

Premium MemberAir of Prancing Fun

There is an air of prancing fun
Elusive but lightly brewing
My candid heart feels her presence
Dare I warn the others?
Or simply watch the show

I elect to keep mum
People stop arguing.
Husbands embrace their wives.
Toddlers with tears begin to smile.
The angels are here
Ancestral drama alleviated and dissipated

To Our Promissor Leaders

Had we have enough but day
This quagmire were no crime
We would keep mum and forget which train
To board to crush our multifarious pains

You by the Atlantic Ocean’s sides
Should we find: pulling away our plights
Of tactlessness, backwardness and peacelessness
Nay, you’ve hurled us into a river of helplessness!

You should, if you please, jail us
Till day your end would bail us!
Our advanced adversity had grown
Higher than Kilimanjaro, and the unknown;

The advancement is as old as civil war
Whilst black ate blacks’ flesh raw
Three years after, the hungry guns fell
But the advancement grows; even yet

Which year at most shall our leaders fear?
The aftermath of rendering our pockets bare?
For never do we deserve this state!
Nor should death strike us at a cheaper rate!

Mom's Birthday Dew Is Due

MOM'S BIRTHDAY DEW IS DUE

Just like a balm in bed you are to me.
I may leave my thoughts unspoken
till the day my muse is inked-out.
Mom, I may sometimes keep mum (mute)
but there's no day that passes
without a reminisce of your kindness,
your thoughtfulness & sacrifices,
your sweetness and your love.
Warm-hearted as noonday sunshine,
restful and peaceful as the night,
deep hearted like depth of ocean,
uplifting as the waves of the sea,
strong and steady like the tide
sums up all that you are to me.
Your love has always been unconditional
even when my moods were transitional.
Hope today, your birthday is special
like sparks that rattles sensational;
Feel yourself renew 'cos your birthday is due.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me to you.

Be My Love

Will you be my love?
Together we`ll build a nest of dove.
We`ll have couple of kids
And bring up them all the days and nights.

I will be yours you will be mine
We will wander together and dine.
From hills to valleys and bines to fines.
We`ll cross black hole and the forbidden lines.

Oh! My lady, silently come.
Let surrounding be deaf and dumb.
Stand frontward and hold your tongue.
Let the critic keep mum.

Amazing First Lady Grace

They say, I should keep mum
When I ambush my Samsons
Naughting with Delilas;
Razoring off their strength,
Nay, they got it all wrong,
Nay, they are misled.

They say, my Samsons
Are all grown ups,
It is their right to injure themselves,
I should let them be;
Nay, they got it all wrong;
Indeed, they are misled:
If I follow their counsel,
I would be corrupt indeed.

My Samsons' rights
Stem from my navel;
Little do they know about
The nine months journey.

Nay, they got it all wrong
This time;
I am not seized by madness;
I am just a caring mother;
I give no apologies,
Neither am I fazed by their
Counsels misled!

I will not watch my Samsons
Being led to the slaughter
Naughting with Delilas!

Still Waiting

I'm waiting for a day that may never come
Because of hatred I must escape from
I'm filled with anger I must overcome
My heart is so numb
But there is to much left to say to keep mum
And no time left to play dumb
I will never succumb
No matter what the outcome

Premium MemberKeenness

King of Kings can surely
   Kill the soul and body.
     Kingdom of God is nigh,
Kiss the Son lest you die.
Knowing that His loving
   Kindness calls you today,
Keep mum, can I? No way.

Decisions

Dress that you pick that day
Decides if you catch prize
Decline or just give in
Drink with them or just pass
Divulge all or keep mum
Drive,sail,walk or swim may
Determine if you’ll live

How Come

They say my heart is weakening
Yet my love is increasing, how come?
And they do not answer it.

They say my eyesight is fading
Yet my vision is perfect, I ask how come?
And they do not answer it.

They say my voice is not audible
Yet they clearly understand what I mean, How come?
Again they keep mum!

They say body cannot lift more than ten kilograms of weight
Yet I can move a mountain with my thoughts, How come? and they show a blank face.

They say when I walk few miles, I am breathless
Yet my determination surpasses the bullet, How come? and they look towards sky.

They say my body action have limitations
However, my wisdom is boundless, how come?
And they close their eyes.

I know my body is growing and becoming weak
Yet my soul has full enthusiasm to drive me
to enable me to perform things beyond the body can think.

My Hazed Singapore

My Hazed Singapore!
My once gleaming and buzzing city
Now forlorn and glum
Relentless blaze and we keep mum
Hazy, crazy, why can’t I see
The silent intruder reminds me
How fragile life and existence can be
Gone the sunshine that sparrows once chirped
The smiles of flowers and trees usurped
Young and old huddling in on tasks
Strong and robust scurrying off in masks
Can we not check their insidious greed?
Let the long arms of the law act indeed!
