Jawbone Poems

Premium MemberPunch-Drunk Poet Meets Chandelier Chin

With nothing but a jawbone, I
unhinge the night, let silence die—
book of broken psalms, toothless songs
of what was right, of what went wrong
beneath the hush of watchful sky.

No prize, no game, no lullaby—
just marrow's oath and blood gone dry.
I didn’t mean to last this long
with nothing but a jawbone.

Still, blood remembers how to lie,
to shape a myth, to justify,
to kill wordsmiths who don’t belong—
the kind who bite and call it strong.
What legend lives, and who will try
with nothing but a jawbone?

Confessional Booth Number 9

Streetlight dander. Jawbone asphalt.
Blink razors carve her iris script.
Rib stars ovulate in feral grates,
mechanical tongue juts a bloodline breath.
Keystroke ruin writes in collapse,
a waveform lodged in sternum glass.
Lipsticked rodeo—a gash in faded denim
Banana-knuckled hands torch filterless ghosts.

Tree-call through copper root systems.
Wire-pluck storm,
vapor chews the stock market
Cancer caught in molar hush,
brined in citrine static.

She opens her throat like a coin purse.
Spine bows in semaphore.
We dismount the edge—
An incisor cusp,
the confession still blistering
beneath the flesh of no language.

MIND

Where inside this skull
(this soon to be abandoned cave),
is mind?

Not an ever-dying brain,
but ‘mind’
that infinite capacity
of higher cognizance.

Did death leave us like this,
with jawbone open in a jarring grin
and nothing more?

Gum-less teeth chatter no tales.

Will we enter the light
as homeless as hermit crabs
seeking a new mind
as we would a new shell?

Or is there a divine handprint
upon us all,
a vast all-knowing God-sense
under our own hands
right here and right there -
wherever and whatever
we lay our hands..

For to be nowhere,
is to be everywhere.

Mind!

Tempered Tongue

There are words that I’m slow to say,
Bound inside and kept away, so
My tempered tongue I won’t betray.

Without much thought an ass will bray;
Many with their jawbone slay, so
There are words that I’m slow to say.

Fire forged barbs will make you pay;
Injured mettle I must weigh, so
My tempered tongue I won’t betray.

Unbridled thoughts expressed all day;
Biting cuts will spark a fray, so
There are words that I’m slow to say.

Floods of emotion rush my way;
Damming walls deflect the spray, so
My tempered tongue I won’t betray.

Feelings expressed in shades of gray
Shield and keep this heart of clay, so
There are words that I’m slow to say;
My tempered tongue I won’t betray.

Premium MemberI Kissed the Sun Rondine

I kissed the Sun dressed up like a sno cone,
an array of Summer's tasty flavor;
Hanging out holding a party favor
melted candy coated nectar get's thrown,
ice cold confetti kisses my jawbone;
There's no time to apply for a waiver;
I kissed the Sun;
In my left pocket I held a moonstone
to arrest this sugar high forever;
So hot I could only indulge ardor;
Multiplying just being in the zone,
I kissed the Sun.

Premium MemberWhen Ai Comes For Me

When AI comes for me
    I shall gladly agree
  Here, sucker, please take my class
    They're a regular old pain in the axe

  Have fun understanding how they jawbone
    Instead of teeth, their mouths are filled with stones
  And good luck trying to read their writing
    It's a cross between hen-scratch and cock-fighting

  As for their collective attention span
    It's akin to an ant's in a sizzling-hot frying pan
  And, of course, the boys' hormones run wild
    Most girls by the second day of class defiled

  But I know you'll be fine, Mr. AI, Mr. Wave of the Future
    Hope you don't mind your 'expertise' getting sutured

Premium MemberJagged

Jagged leaves of jagged plants,
Jagged journeys of small ants;
Justice-like jagged daggers,
Jawbone jerking joke-braggers...

Jaggedness has its greatness,
Uniqueness; concatenates;
Jagged paths possess puzzles,
Frail fizzles, frizzles, dazzles...

Uniquely jagged seem plans,
Midwifery lacking birth-pangs;
Jagged routs in wild forests,
Leave humans endless tourists...

Jagged truths piercing bluntly,
Have fullness abundantly;
If straight looks can glimpse forward,
Jagged looks can glare inward...

Premium MemberWe Barely Speak Now

We are identical twins
believing in none of the same things
as alike as a tennis shoe is to a tyrannosaurus rex’s jawbone

We used to play and laugh
We had a silent laugh that creeped out the rest of the family
It could last for a month or two at a time

But then one of us grew up, and moved away.
Became a political being, whereas the other one
does not remember half the time which one is a donkey

We are identical twins
who used to have a mother and father
who kept us together, in the same car, at the same church

We used to be together on so many things
Before I realized there are other religions and other languages
And before my twin forgot who she was and became a social media stirrer of trouble.

We barely speak now
When we do we are careful
She professes to hate liberals, and I am the most liberal liberal I know.
Luckily, I also know that she does not know what a liberal is.
Some people do not have to know what “they are” in order to despise them.

Belly of the Void

While Samson is swinging his jawbone
There's a raven waiting on a tombstone
The reaper digs graves for all the unknowns
And the devil taps on his xylophone

The blackbird taps out some epitaphs
While Beelzebub is signing autographs
All hell is getting paid time and a half
While Lucifer lets out a deep belly laugh

Above expectant coffins Corvus Corax caws
And greedy vultures wait for the chance to gnaw
As many men meet their last tragic flaws
Hades opens up its' famished gaping maw

A Voice of My Own

For years it had flown through dim canyons,
hollows where the mute sheltered in echoing caves.

Poems shifted loose and gearless.
Words darted for cover as if caught
in an empty bell tower.
On tongue-chilled days it would croon inarticulately
as it sang beneath jawbone rafters.

Then one drunken night I felt it clearing its windpipes,
coaching a squeaky organ into yawps of utterance.
I can see it now, a raw unlovely thing,
a creature hammered through gurgling fissures,
grown stark with a transpiring clarity.

I would mislay it like a lost penny,
go crazy to find its untrod trail again,
then it would return like a tramp begging at my door.
I hear it knocking now – a homeless angel
eager to shed the next paltry revelation
in a foundling language.
No longer is it a chance sighting,
no longer a luminous flutter on dark walls;
it is red of lip,
a painted vowel in my unbolted mouth.

A mouth that now divulges,
and sometimes in a dull turning year
may say something worth transcribing
for the ears of other madmen.

Premium MemberEpic the Genre

An epic saga in words,deeds and song
Of a man who killed lions,& wore his hair  long;
Samson,a Nazarite when this tale began
The Spirit of the Lord,fell upon him at Dan;
With just a jawbone,a spectacular killing he made
Freeing Judah and ruling for two decades;
But desire, was this Judge's downfall
A lover's  wiles causing him to fall;
He revealed his secret,without due care
Delilah so quickly razored off his hair;
The Philstines bound him with bronzen rope
To God,Samson called out in hope,
And making his final heartfelt plea,
The temple fell down ,for all to see.

Pain

An old friend of mine
Keeps paying me visits
in the early hours of the morning when the dogs bark

It's 5am
And she's here now
Swirling her pale finger through my hair,
trampling mud through my trembling synapses

She traces over my scars, smiling
She reels the shrieks out of my trachea
She carefully collects the tears from my jawbone
and adds them to her murking hourglass

I try to tell her I can't play now,
I have things to do
But we both know that itself
is the reason for her visit.

She's P.A.I.N
