The end is nigh

Me oh my I spy with my little eye

The climate crisis they still deny

The sleuth’s proofs they will defy

Ruthless with truths they just lie

An evangelist tryst as we all fry

Oligarchy malarkey is their ally

Shout read the book of Malachi

It either floods or is drought dry

Biblical not whimsical we all cry

Facts cloaks with pacts on the sly

Pokes broke folks as try to get by

Acts wry impunity from on high

Tracts of woke jokes.. on the fly

Elite phalanx craved the whole pie

As each raved I am a stand up guy

Banks our future on a computer tie

Skanks everyone thanks really why?

Everything tanks but saved by AI?

Fossil fuel fools with a limited supply

Flawed but adored as no rules apply

Share prices soared on the vices rely

Fires roared here & abroad we reply

Renewable’s doable & cheap to buy

Maraud with their fraud we all sigh

Abhorred just give our planet a MRI

Everything gnawed comply we all die

Sandwich board says the end is nigh

So if there's a Lord look up to the sky

Seeing Spots

Physicists may say,
'Random is not truly random,
it only appears to be,'
but another theory goes,
(according to me)
'Not so when playing games of chance,'
(and I have done the sums)
for this experiment logic states,
'The odds in favour are 5 to 1.'
As I spy with my little eye,
seeing spots and counting dots
on a regular die,
(these don't go to 11)
the 2 opposing sides,
of which there are 6, total 7.
So throw the bones or toss the dice,
whichever way you slice 'em,
when you're done having fun,
in all, the pips on a single die number 21.
And the line at the bottom...
roll 'em if you got 'em!

We play share your stories on Zoom and GoogleMeet.
They have terrific stories, and their siblings are bouncing in the background.
We see paper airplanes fly through the air; their videos are exciting!
It is so much fun to be able to see our grandchildren in this way.

Sure Mom and Dad forget they are on there. They are busy, not seeing.
Telling their children to settle down, while I am riling them up, getting them goofy.
It is not the same, but it is something. We play chess sometimes.
We both have a board. We have to pay close attention; it is fun.

Sometimes we play “I spy with my little eye”. This is a challenge for sure.
Luckily they have a movable camera, so they can move it around.
Pretending they are helping us find “it” when they are actually not showing it to us.
Zoom, Skype, GoogleMeet, FaceTime. Thank you technology for saving us!

Old Sailor Remembers

An Old Sailor Remembers

I’m at the shore like long before
On old familiar sand
To search the seas
And memories
A spy glass in my hand

I spy with my little eye
A ship upon the sea
With sails aloft
The breeze so soft
It barely seems to be
The captain stands and barks commands
The crew all hear him shout
They jump right in
The spinners spin
She turns to come about
The sails flap; I hear the clap
She's flying wild and free
And I can see that she like me
Is where she's meant to be

Trinkets

These i spy with my little eye
tossed aside, two black-and-white die
silver glinting of a spoon
little green soldiers in a platoon
things you forget around the house
things i pick up, quiet as a mouse
a pencil here, a postcard there
pins and buttons to fill my lair
and ever so softly during the night
when the owl hoots and the moon is bright
when the house is still, there’s not a peep
and you’re counting little sheep
i pick these up, you’re unaware
but look under if you dare
what was lost will come to you
i’ll give them back, they’re overdue
but what a funny thing to know!
a few lost pins won’t stop the show
the only conclusion is that humans
love these small things, it’s proven
how strange! how odd!
what seem like trinkets to us gods –
may be one’s greatest treasure

Something.

That is
How does
Love at first sight
Lead to cataracts?

It's a little fuzzy.

It's pouring outside,
I spy with my little eye,
Something with an r.

I Spy With My Little Eye

Something sits slunk in the corner
Am I the only mourner?
This stranger rocks weeping
it has been sleeping

It has awoke to find
its nightmare was not in its mind
It realizes that this is real
sadness it begins to feel

I step closer to this unknown
For in this dungeon no light is shown
Darkness envelops this victim
My cigarette the only light on him

As I step closer "help me" he whimpers
"save me from these night tremors"
This is no dream my friend
Your sorrow will not end

"I am dying" he tells me
How can I save thee?
"Carry on my word
So little am I heard"

As I step closer to the helpless soul
Gasoline penetrates my nostrils whole
Who are you good sir
"I am Mankind's Conscious mister
I have lived in the shadows as mankind
cuts each others throats without mind
of the consequences of heartless acts
So will you help me in the face of these facts?"

I contemplate his pleading
A conscious this world is needing
But what is that to me
No benefit for me do I see

With the smell of gasoline still in my nose
I flick my cigarette at his body and ragged clothes
As I turn and leave I hear his moans
As I turn and leave I trip over Chivalry and Honesty's bones
