From anger,
we’ve released words bent on hurting,
These words,
were intended to be, disconcerting.
Then later,
without the sense God gave a horse,
We wallow,
in our self made pools of remorse.
Our tongues,
became bridges from our heart to ear,
Delightedly,
to purpose we’ve managed to adhere.
Apologies,
never eradicate and others may spurn,
Harsh words,
like arrows once released, won’t return.
Are gay jockeys fruit of the loom
when riding a race on the course,
and would they need the helping hand
of a leg-up
to get on their high horse?
Would a long-faced horse,
a sourpuss,
not wanting to be a player,
bolt the barn door
or be a neigh-sayer?
If a broke cowboy saddled with a nag,
a dark horse of a different colour
that's *****,
were bent, a crooked rustler,
would he sell you a bum steer?
the race is not won by he who owns the horse but by she who holds the reins
The two mares owned by Mister Muller
One was dark and the other duller
But the one it was said
Was more a shade of red
That's a horse of a different color
There are horses for the courses,
We know, and there are race horses,
What we know’s too little,
Horse bets on no people,
He knows with men all sense ceases!

Poet’s note: They say: as a rider, the best compliment you can get is not from your trainer; it is from your horse. This is horse sense. I don’t know if the best compliment a poet can get is from his pen, but wish it were. A horse can advise: ‘Take life’s hurdles in stride. Loosen the reins. Be free spirited. Keep the burrs from under your saddle. Carry your friends when they need a ride. Keep stable, and gallop to greatness’. And as someone said: when in doubt let your horse do the thinking. He has the horse sense, as man you have little.

An apple a day, some say
~ My horse says neigh
Frank was in the forces
He took many courses
He enjoyed every one
Until his young son
Said, "Dad, why don't we breed horses?"
a horse waltzed over to say
without its usual neigh
he'd kick a farmers pants
for trying to dance
to the sound of munching hay.
Steer clear of the sleeping crocodile.
Never clasp a viper to your breast.
Don't trust that grinning tiger.
Tonight, when you lie down to rest.
Do not guide a pilgrim's footsteps,
If you do not know the way.
Don't coach the kids in Little League,
If you don't know how to play
Do not prune a dead branch from a tree,
When you're standing on that limb
Don't give your hand to a drowning man,
If you don't know how to swim.
