I’ve teeth to bite, teeth to show

Howdy Modi was just a myth,
Rowdy Modi, to show my teeth,
No more than a fig leaf
My tariff’s no tariff,
And rowdy, to have a row with,
Why? He came in my way
Of Nobel, and must pay,
You know not how deep I’m beneath!

Note: It is no state secret that Trump loves being flattered and buttered up. Occasionally he’s good at buttering up as well. He did that to Modi with ‘howdy Modi’ when he wanted Indian votes in his first go at presidency. Pakistan did it, as also Israel’s Bibi before it. India refused when he wanted credit (and undeservedly so) for Indo-Pak ceasefire. All are susceptible to praise, genuine or false, but Trump seems ravenous for false praise-- somewhat of the type Goldsmith hinted:
Full well they laugh’d with counterfeited glee
At his jokes for many a joke had he.

Beautifully Unplanned

When an ordinary day becomes the unexpected,
The hours turn into a rush, and get connected.
I turned my head to find who stood there,
Our eyes met—something rare

I didn’t give anything that hinted at chaos,
Didn’t give a little smile, just raised my eyebrows.
Ignoring someone, shaking my head—
Not now, I’m done being bled.

But you’re the one giving me reason to hold a half-string,
You turn my head again, and your smile gives me something.
My quiet place has a visitor—should I let him in?
Should I open the door and grab his hand to begin?

I think this is the time to say, “I give my walls down.”
You grab my hand and fill the space, feeling like having a crown.
Your smile is like the moon to me, bringing calmness,
Your voice is like rest, providing me with happiness.

You’re one of my “beautiful unplanned.”
You’re my solace now, my safe space in hand,
Building another core memory—
But this time, I have you in every journey.

Premium MemberAbsolute Morning

First, its hinted glint tinged the
Venetian Blinds like a timid child.
Slowly its emboldened gleam
permeated the obscure room
dispelling night’s cryptic rule.

Second, it beamed a brilliant column
of sun, glaring through blinds and
reflecting against the back wall.
Its gradual growing glow bled through
cracks and corners of the windows,
flooding the room with the brilliant blaze.

Finally, the dawn was declared as
the golden rapture hollowed out
the slightest shadows and took over.
Its light became the dominant force
defining the new day,
                             the absolute morning.

efficient Eddie eliminated evil Edna’s eyeglasses
flustering Frannie Florence, furthering father’s frankness forever
generous Ginnie gave glasses glorious glam, gluing garbage
hallow Hal hinted heroics, having Henry’s huffy habits
ideas ignited, illuminating idiocy in Illinois, Iowa and Idaho
juicy judgement jockeyed jointly, justifying judicial jury

Premium MemberJack Facing a Smack

One day Jill was going uphill.

She wanted to make herself chill.

Spotted a lucky Robin's quill

Jack got in her way and stood still.

She waved the quill and tried to spill

Jack liked it and hinted his will.

Tried to snatch it away from Jill

She slugged him on face with much skill.

Jack fell down making a loud shrill.

Jill got upper hand, what a thrill!

Take me away with your eloquent talk
Tell me news about my ideology
Show me the opportunities baulked
Smile at my unsaid apologies
Put me into scheme where I’m just a screw
Within a machine that makes war
Stereotype me with anything you
Distinguished about times before
Your precious guidance is my comfort zone
All you expected to see
That’s what I am, when I’m here alone
And you are talking to me
What can I say? There’s no way to ignore
Calamities of some failed state
Where I was accidentally born
You wouldn’t envy this fate
I won't try to disarm the army
I can't vacate laws and police
Of course I don’t think its too funny
To be accused for all this
Don’t want to cause any damage
There is no point to load you
With what I’m not able to manage
With something beyond my full due
As you have hinted, I’m little
So in metaphysical sense
There's nothing about to fiddle
I cost no extensive expence
I value a lot what you say
You are my interlocutor here
You help me to live through the day
Even if me you can’t hear.

O hearken to hints from your heart

To please Lady Muse, all my heart to bare,
I tried invoking her with chiselled verse,
That, the pure pleasure of my pen’s all hers,
Yet, left I was at blank paper to stare.
I sought some odd words archaic and rare,
And tried to paint the bleakest face of woes,
Which, often a desperate poet toes,
Fervent did I appeal that she be fair.
The words when came, came halting as if shy
And listless, I failed her bulwark to breach,
Nothing whatso worked and I knew not why,
I failed, the fount of words resource to reach,
I still coaxed my pen a new line to mint,
A voice whispered: hearken to your heart's hint.

Sonnet | 03.11.2008 | poem
Poet’s note: There are times when no matter what you do, words desert your pen as this sonnet says. Notice, the Volta is hinted at the beginning of the sestet, but its high tide occurs only at the poem-ending couplet.

Premium MemberTremolo

The mark of a triumphal concert printed
On a glossy long-playing record sleeve.
The concertmaster's smiling face hinted
The acclaim she was entitled to receive.

She liked her drawing with her lock of hair
Falling on the strings of her violin
Like the violinist of the disk where
She held her instrument under her chin.

As always, her last stroke of a pen fell
With the last crackling of the old vinyl.
One day, she would be applauded as well
Louder than the winners of a final.

Her hope endured until the dazzling daydreams
Shattered into pallid scars of moonbeams.

On Way to Ulster Saw Cluster in Big Bluster

on way to Ulster
saw a cumbersome cluster
in a big bluster

while amicable
did become despicable
was predictable

when perusing on map
flowing from tree was much sap
between ears big gap

when with day of grace
of what we saw was a trace
egg all over face

when wearing bloomer
based on the latest rumor
died from brain tumor

being demented
was hard when he had hinted
hair would be tinted

of ice cream ate scoop
saw another nincompoop
doing hula hoop

Premium MemberWinter's Bench Mark

A park bench sits empty
Dawn dew dappled
An unseen shiver
Envious of the shaking dog
Senses a loneliness
Hinted at by Winter’s chill
Passersby now scurry
Heads down, breath steaming
The squirrels will no longer come
Nor the pigeons
Cold winds will scourge the trees
Denude them of leaf and bird.

The bench imagines the dew drops
To be its farewell tears.

Her Pyre

She laid her emotions on a pyre.
Took a torch and lit a flame.
A gust of wind kidnapped them,
Taking them into the sky.
Watching as her desires flew away.
A smile hinted in her eyes.

Premium MemberAway In a Strip Mall

Away in a strip mall,
no strip did I see.
That strips might be sold there
means nothing to me.

And then I thought strip tease!
I walked all around
but no naked ladies
were there to be found.

No cute guys there either
in nothing but thongs
who hinted that maybe
they’d show us their dongs!

There’s Vegas strips, so why
not say a mall STRIP?
I went to see strippers
but wasted my trip.

Premium MemberGod, You'Re Good

God, You are just so good in all ways.
Everywhere I look I am reminded of Your goodness.
Your majesty speaks to me from the lofty mountain peaks.
Your mighty power merely hinted at in the surging waves of the ocean.
Your loving kindness and forgiveness expressed ever so minutely,
in the warmth of a mother's arms.
I look up and see the clouds drifting across the face of the silver moon,
and think no artist ever painted such a mystical scene.
I see the forest in the early morning mist and think how magical a place this is.
I see the roses kissed by morning's dew and think no human could create such beauty.
I have watched my own belly move as the child within me grew strong,
and marveled at the magic You had created within me.
All my life I have been surrounded by Your abundant blessings.
You have proven Yourself over and over again.
How can Mankind be so foolish as to doubt You?
I am amazed by Your goodness, Your power, Your patience and Your mercy.
I stand in awe of You.
Lord, when You return,
Remember me.

Senator Richard, patriot man..Saw him speak out
On the Ukraine plan..A colonel retired yet not to
Grass, He's seen some action that came to pass
Reckons 12 Russian generals dead were U S
Kills, a war act he said, let alone the naval ship
Thats never been hinted, on this media trip
Said in his time, he'd advised the council
US security, or some such mouthful '
He added Putin was pushed to this fight ?
Could it be just so black and white?
Not talking of Russians of any colour
Just thankful this man was born
If it highlights the cause of conflicts
That rob the world of fathers; sons
Also sisters and mothers.!
