TAKE A HIKE

There were times when I was young…when I got on my parent’s nerves…
when I did things they did not like…
when they wanted me out of their hair they might tell me, “Go take a hike”

Of course that meant to stop bugging them…to let them be…to go away…
to read a book, watch TV or go outside

Northern Light

Of burning sight, we grow the flora,
From dancing light of my aurora.
A stunted garden, met with showers,
Brought to bloom, bouquet of flowers.

In casting passion, bright the sky,
Of green and blue we share an eye.
The way of stars and trees alike,
Through boreal we join and hike.

NIGHT HIKE

We took a guided hike through a park last night…a beautiful natural preserve.
and in the dark it is amazing…all the things we could observe.

As the crickets serenaded us…at an alligator on the bank we got to peek
while we heard mudpuppies just under the surface…dancing in the creek.

Through narrow sand-covered pathways in the quiet we did

A Delightful Hike

The high hills hummed in praise of their Creator,
As we recklessly rushed down all the rough rocks,
Careful not to tumble down the treacherous
Uneven paths that led to the vast valley.

Here and there were fruitful farms, corn growing tall.
Whilst a cacophony of crows, hens and geese
Filled the air contrasting with passeri and larks,
Practicing their mellow melodious

WEDDING DAY HIKE

Whence the time had come, for the winding road to shine,
(Orbiting in circles
Jumping Hurdles
Cyclonic sparkles)
Like a diamonté sun, caught in the clearing of vertiginous fog,

The brilliant bride adorned in light, her penguin-groom now in sight,
(White gown swooshing
Silky-soft soothing
Ready for swooning)
With tippy-top hat. But, she had to share through each smiling stare,

Horn Had Taken a Hike to Find Father Farrell

Parish which we cherish would scream
when scalded with steam so it did see
when either having been suspectable to sterile
or fond of finding a pleasant parishioner

that his friend was feral
which we knew would be infuriating

Lets Hike Up To Druid Arch

let’s hike up to the druid arch!
i am less than enthusiastic
let’s drive to it I suggest
grandma! you can’t drive there!\

we do a little encyclopedia research
druid arch is one hundred and fifty foot tall
impressive in the middle of nowhere

it is a cedar mesa sandstone reminder
of the Permian period
san dune deposited 245 million years ago

Dawn Hike

Daylight wipes its face.
I travel through a door
unlocking an attic of mind.

If I had a best pair of pants
I would wear them
but I have only the next to best.

Small unnamed birds
are clambering
over a heaped-up sky.

I may have to climb a little also,
my best boots are old
but they have been to the tops

Hitch-Hike

Do you ever wish you'd never been born?
Never again?
Do I play a role in your misery?
Or, did our paths cross to confirm inevitable suffering?
I'm weak and addicted. 
Mayonnaise brain.
Unfiltered rants that indulge self hate.
Pushing the limits. 
I don't want to be what I created. 
Seem is adjacent.
No satisfaction.

Morning Hike

I love returning to the vale;
I feel recharged, hearty, and hale.
It lifts my spirits without fail,
bringing a joy that’s not for sale.
It keeps me lighter on the scale
while still eschewing all that kale.
Missy concurs out on the trail,
takes in the smells, and wags her tail.

Jokes God Did Not Like

A well-packaged joke 
Able to ribs poke:
The enclosed in cloak
So thick y’d think Oak…

Bad Dad by Son locked,
Because Son was shocked
Dad never Mum rocked,
Her clean wages docked, 
Prayers to Christ blocked, 
Dreams of rescue mocked, 
Bad guys round her flocked, 
Monitoring head cocked,
Russian guns, two, cocked…

Jokes God did not like,
Their cracker Mark Mike: 
Now limp

2023: Price-Hike Panic

on 
the palm 
turmoil fate 
of the next year
as like burning coal
no peace in working hand
backbone is suffering clasps
waiting for the new tragic time
sipping the slaver of dearth panic

Falling Into a Dyke

I just asked a Cleve Mike 
What it might just be like 
To fall into a dyke 
While riding a fast bike?
A Mike Mc styling,
All day gusto rising,
His showmanship pricing,
His daily cake icing
But Mike was all silence, 
My question robbed of sense
Through not planned reticence;
I think A Mike's Patience
But soon from Mike "A hike!"

Six Mile Hike

Six mile hike
Twelve hundred feet of climb
Viv in a pack
Up on my back
I’d do it anytime

Six mile hike
Left a car at the top
Hiking through lava
Jonesing for java
Didn’t see a shop

Six mile hike
Trek in the painted desert
Slogged through sand
That wasn’t planned
Morning comes, legs gonna hurt

Granddaughter, daughter and wife
Out in God’s glory
