Phone habits kill

She looked pretty at the Zebra crossing,
weaving slowly, her shampooed hair tossing,
cars stopped still, to allow her go across,
who wouldn’t stop to let a beauty pass!

She looked neither to her left nor her right,
body cutting out shape in pants bit tight,
eyes fixed on the messages on her phone,
tripping when side stepping a traffic cone.

She continued

spending habits have changed

.When I was younger if I saw a box store I turned into the drive.
Spent an hour there, buying things I probably never needed.
Today I am sitting across from one, will be here an hour.
No desire to go across the street or into that store.
I am older now, not wiser, but I do not want

Transferred Energy

Swimmers don't sink
until they lose ATP -
transferred energy,
warming the waters
that will soon encase them.
You are no different -
sucking in the energy 
I continuously emit.
Someday, I admit,  
you will be the warm

I do what no one can

The Black Holes of Habits

Humans and habits,
Both like celestial bodies.
Humans are the planets,
And habits are the stars.

The habit that lingers slowly turns,
Into a vast black hole, a dark abyss,
Hard to escape, we spiral inward,
Tumbling into its void.

But is it truly impossible to escape?
Though I am no scientist,
I know that before the universe,
Our science was inconceivable.

So by what logic do

Hoist With His Own Petard

He who disregards truth and justice
Will sooner or later go the whole hog;
His bestial appetites and habits,
His love of cruelty and power eventually will take over
Perhaps without him ever realizing the danger.

Life is about attitudes, habits, and disbelief,
and any prejudices we harbor, God didn’t endow.
We look at life’s problems and seek God for relief,
As we do those things age and health will allow.

Jaundiced habits are often hindering our progress,
and these bad habits we’re oft unwilling to cede.
The brambles we encounter have

Serenity

Such a smooth motion,
the silver slowly moves,
right across my canvas wrist,
its peace that I choose.

The glass quickly empties,
my head starts to spin,
the alcohol makes me dizzy,
it feels like a win.

The smoke fades away,
drag after drag,
i know it isn't healthy,
but it makes me want to brag.

I swing at them again,
i'm not quite sure why,
