Old Gooseberry gets in when you let your guard down
Handsome, diabolically friendly, he never shows a frown
Temps you with spirits, pills and elixirs to make you high
Some addicts think he is a splendiferous, wonderful guy.

This hilarity to me is on the fence.
And yet in the dictionary, there it is as devil.
Whoever put it in there, were they on the level?

Okay, I understand each.
But Old Gooseberry?
This seems like an abnormal reach.

A goose in a noose got loose today. At last. At times he had watched as bodies of his fellow feathers had been brought out of the shed having walked in just fine. On the promise of a treat. And then crushed. Defeat. Strung. He had watched horrified. Noticing them swinging through the tiny window.

what on earth do you do
with leftover gooseberry stew
do you bake it in a pie
with meringue sky high
or make a tart not so sweet

how about that sweet jelly
got that recipe from aunt nelly

if you ever get them ripe
