Old Gooseberry gets in when you let your guard down
Handsome, diabolically friendly, he never shows a frown
Temps you with spirits, pills and elixirs to make you high
Some addicts think he is a splendiferous, wonderful guy.

old Gooseberry
biding his time
sending the reaper
to collect the damned
sitting on his throne
unconcerned, unhurried
choosing new minions
for tomorrow’s soul collections

Devil
Lucifer
These make sense
But Old Gooseberry?
This hilarity to me is on the fence.
And yet in the dictionary, there it is as devil.
Whoever put it in there, were they on the level?
Devil
Lucifer
Okay, I understand each.
But Old Gooseberry?
This seems like an abnormal reach.

what on earth do you do
with leftover gooseberry stew
do you bake it in a pie
with meringue sky high
or make a tart not so sweet
yet tasty enough to eat
how about that sweet jelly
got that recipe from aunt nelly
make a cobbler is planned
or don't forget gooseberry jam
if you ever get them ripe
those are my favorite type
you can eat them just as they are
fresh gooseberries are the star
but since most are picked green
without sugar they are sourly obscene
stew them good with cinnamon
add sugar and dig in
now for those boysenberries
how about a glass of wine or sherry

It's a ripe hour under shield
And tranquil carefree splendid of the day
Quoting the splendour combination of beauty
It's the time on the lovers on board.
A butterfly pretty and pigeon beauty
Both are true and are mine
When duos redeemed, I was there
A babel of noise to must bubble
Won't I be backbitten as a backbencher?
I am an ally of the lovebirds
Background temptation must let go here
I am a friend and a best man to be
So, so and so thought should excuse my tract
And let me remain a matchmaker under zephyr.

Heckle and Jeckle, jellyroll jam,
Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth.
Little kids like to eat green eggs and ham;
So do you – now tell me the truth!
One fish, two fish, red, white and blue fish,
Old glory is waving on high;
A moss-covered, three-handled family cradunza
Might suddenly take to the sky.
Tiddly-winkle little starfish,
In a show starring Bullwinkle Moose;
Rocky the Squirrel shares raspberry jam
With Old Mother Hubbardy Goose.
Goosey Lucy and old Turkey Lurkey
Hiding out in the Wise-acre Wood;
Lambchop takes tea with his jellyroll jam,
While jammin’ with Johnny B. Good.
Humpty Dumpty, coddleston pie,
Three little Pigletty pooh;
Jam up jelly tight hot cross buns,
Magpies eat jellybeans, too.
