Old Gooseberry

Devil
Lucifer
These make sense
But Old Gooseberry? 
This hilarity to me is on the fence.
And yet in the dictionary, there it is as devil.
Whoever put it in there, were they on the level?
Devil
Lucifer
Okay, I understand each.
But Old Gooseberry?
This seems like an abnormal reach.
