Get Your Act Together Poems | Examples

Premium Member I’m fine

How are you doing?

You ask but quickly move on
not waiting for my answer ~
You ask not really wanting to know.

The truth being you don't expect
to hear how I am feeling.
You ask but are quite
satisfied not knowing
so you can resume your fantasy
that I am fine.

The reality is that I'm trying
to hold back the flood gates
long enough for you to manage
to get your act together.

How long are we going to avoid
the elephant in the room?
You're right to not get me started.
Don't go there.
Don’t... Just don’t.

Dysfunctional Family

Life isnt fair
And it starts at home
When you're the responsible one
Even if you weren't there
You get exploited and used
Yet still it's not enough
Whatever the issue
It was because of you
If only you would get your act together
That would solve all of our problems
You were a mistake
I wish you weren't born instead
Funny how the world praises me
When at home it's all scorn and spite
No wonder I don't recognize love
When all I've learnt to accept is hate

To You Out There In the Shadows

I insist to
all of you out
   there in the darkness
Find your spiritual home
   Islam, Judaism
Christianity and other faiths
    are open to you
   You must make your decisions
       The years will fly by
and you will fade into shadow
shortly
So get your act together - as soon as possible
before nightfall

Premium Member I Don'T Know Why

Lately each morning I wake wanting to cry
Trying to figure it out
Don't know why

Pondering the cause, recounting yesterday
The day included cooking, cleaning
Nothing significant, everything okay

In the morning, at noon, at supper watched the news
Oh my gosh, no wonder I have the blues

Most of the stories are tragic and sad
Some information makes me mad
Stories of tragedies, bombs that mame
Searching for clues for who to blame

Political people covering their lies
Political parties refusing to compromise
Both sides claim to be right
Not giving an inch, so on goes the fight

Come on Congress, get your act together
No one side has all the answers to make things better
Together we are stronger, divided we fall
Come off your high horses
You look silly, not tall

God must look down at us and shake His head
Men are fools, wish they would look to Me instead

Gosh, I feel better, now that I have had my say
I am going to get down on my knees
Hope you will join me to pray

That Child Really Needs You

That child really needs you
Get your act together
Take care of your responsibilities
Pull yourself from out of the gutter
Putting yourself in a dark situation
Sadly, tears your world apart
There is no call for substance abuse
Just take these words to heart

God Finds Bob Dylan

God said, “Get your act together boy or upon ya comes my wrath.”
Bob said, “I can’t believe you’d bother me while I was in the bath.”

God said, “I can see everything that you ever say or do.”
Bob said, “A little privacy please, it’s not like I know you.”

God said, “I can’t believe that you don’t even recognize my face.”
Bob said, “I can’t believe that you don’t even carry a guitar case.”

God said, “My kid moved in with you he sent me all your love.”
Bob said, “I remember he was pretty cool but I sent him back above.”

God said, “When I try to stop ‘round to see you, you always put me off.”
Bob said, “Stop ‘round on Wednesday ‘cause Sunday’s my day to golf.”

God choked, “Dylan golfs?”
Bob laughed, “God coughs?”

God said, “Is there a better time when I might come back later?”
Bob said, “How ‘bout I call you first, you’re pushy old creator.”

Untitled

there are voices all around me
saying this and that
the truth is coming out
you are in another world
that I don't want to know
unless there is something you want
I do not exist to you
why you make me suffer
make me watch the man I love
kill himself each day
you may love me
but you don't care for me
I want someone I can spend my life with
not someone who doesn't give me the time of day
you have two choices
you need to decide
choice one:
keep living your life as is or,
choice two:
keep the vow you made to me
if choice one is yours
you need to let me go
I don't want anything to do with that
there for I would not be the one for you
if choice two is yours
you need to stop doing meth now
and get your act together
start showing me you care
so make your choice
because soon I'll be making mine
and I've got bigger and better things on my mind

David and Mona

David?
A bachelor?
Why,
when Mona Lisa is not taken?
Is he not drawn
by her amazing beauty,
and the innocence in her eyes?
Her closed lips silent,
never to lie.
Is he among those who laud her creator?
Tell me David, are you that guy,
Who love searches for
in her childlike eyes?
Did you vow celibacy
If not her touch?
Did she ever whisper:
“I love you so much?”
Why then David
naked you stand,
exposing life’s small measures.
Tell me Mona,
did he cause nature's electric surge,
or did he hurt is cause?
His posture tells his every word,
more than his lips ever did.
David, my son, you are aging.
