Contemplation of Life's Path

"The artist should paint not only what he has in front of him but also what he sees inside himself." Quote by Caspar David Friedrich on his painting "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog."
--------------------------------------------------------------
Gazing at man gazing distant mountains
Fog stretches below, before both gazers
Non-dominant foot forward, weighing mind
Will taking risks benefit one's skilled life?
Is contemplation enough to see same?
Fog of lies tries to mingle truth at sky

A humble stick not enough to scale heights
Yet, is handy along the reeds, rambles
The choicest feet prefer to leave no marks
Far away rocks promise solid comfort
Taking perilous path is Hamlet's task
Life, a known journey towards unknown. See.

Premium MemberFriends - A Key To Happy Marriage

Marriage is a truly wonderful thing
bringing together man and woman
it's a sacred union blessed by God
all God's plan for many a human

But not all marriages work
increasingly failure comes about
especially in this modern day
life pressures cause breaks to shout

Today we miss something important
that is that couples must be friends
even more urgent than being lovers
for human love can easily just end

But real true abiding friendship counts
far more in holding a couple together
through all the tumbles of marriage
shows such beauty as a blade of heather

(Quote:
" It's not the lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.")

Wing

“The higher we soar the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly.” ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

If you ask me, I’ll tell you what I would do
If I had a pair of wings, high into the sky I would soar
Far into a land of peace and love, I would fly
far away, away from war, hatred, and discord.

Where men breathe the names of the Lord
Where youth is not wasted in vain pursuit
With love, where man fulfills all his needs
Where man adheres to the ideals of peace
Where the idea of hatred is despised
Where man strives for the goodwill of all
Where virtue pleases one’s soul
Where men work with earnest zeal
to attain their honest goal;

But the Lord above, it seems, is unkind to me
“O man”, says He, “there are no wings for thee!”

Premium MemberThe Sea of Fog

The Sea of Fog - A Poem Inspired by the famous painting "Wonderer Above Sea of Fog" by Caspar David Friedrich

Mystic mountains all around,
As a sea of fog is abound

The wanderer looks to the view ahead,
Standing tall, no fear or dread

The sea of fog, a dream-like sight,
Only letting in just enough light

Mystic energy all surrounds,
Spiritual sense can be found

The wanderer cannot see what’s below,
The choices there cannot be seen so

The sea of fog hides what’s down so deep,
To uncover the truth you must take a leap

This painting so nice, so full of wonder,
An adventure awaits for those who go under

Premium MemberThe Wanderer

Hey, sir!
Why did you stop and look awhile?
Amazed by flurry fleeting fog,
or seeking sacrosanct solace
behind the calming chiaroscuro
of boundless beguiling beauty
in front of you?

Hey, sir!
Will you look back at me awhile,
and gaze upon my eyes?
I wonder if ...
a mysterious monarchial mind
I see from your back
is depicted in the way you look at me;
I want to know.

Hey, sir!
It seems you got miles to go;
Will you stop and hang awhile
to have a drink for two?
Hurry not...
And we both will ponder
on the misty haven
before the night is through.

Notes:Wanderer above the Sea of Fog, or Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer, to give it it's original German title, is the most famous painting from the career of German Romanticist painter, Caspar David Friedrich. It was finished in 1818 and now resides at the Kunsthalle Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany.

Premium MemberAll the Way To Mars

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Dance beneath the magic moon and listen to the flute
the stars will spangle brightly and then render you a mute
Twirl around the trees feel the brush of wind against your skin
the music of the forest has bounce it lives and breathes within
Bap Bap boom boom boom bap goes the sound of the rain
let it trickle down your face and take away your pain
life a technicolor beat in every note pure heaven
twisty water waves that flow with ascension
the music of the nymphs will take you higher than the stars
mayhap it will just guide you, all the way to Mars

Keola: Sonnet

Quote by Friedrich Nietzsche

Romantic words spilled from his feathered quill
They are but woven threads, tenderly scribed,
an alluring nectar I chose to swill,
symbols of love I thirstily imbibed.

For the intimate relations we shared,
and of things he penned for my eyes to read.
Whispers to one another, our hearts bared,
and to us conveyed great passion and need.

Nowhere else do I wish to ever stand
then beside the one man who means so much.
Do my heart and soul respond to his hand?
Yes, they always yearn for his tender touch.

Lifted up, my voice sings as in my youth
Born on emotions of absolute truth.

“Friedrich Nietzsche”

The Bible states that Jesus fell three times,
which makes him human, but not commonplace.
And though He was crucified for false crimes,
it does not mean He fell out of God's grace.

His Love for Man led Jesus to the cross,
where He chose to bleed and die, but not kill.
And asked us to get His message across,
faith makes us stronger, because of free will.

Existential Toast

. for public domain

("Why not rather untruth?"*)

When comfort is less a sigh,
we embrace the fatal lie,
whether it be the hero's victory,
or the Almighty Just Deity on high.

Truth does not vanquish hunger,
end pain, or make us younger,
human ears are much more finely tuned
to the ever clever pleasure monger.

So beware seeker of Sooth,
Happiness lies in Vermouth,
Joyfully we drink a glass after glass,
each toasting our loving companion Ruth.

There Just Beyond That Long Black Sea Curtain

Across the expanse, twilight's beckoning mystery
Far flung over hidden thundering, splashing waves
Lies the unknown, extension of man's history
Adventure begging footsteps of the true and brave
Centuries, that call has cried, "come- take a chance"
Journey in search of love, treasure, life and much more
Such that in great palaces hold Love and Romance
Wealth and sweet pleasures in those far off golden shores.
Beyond the horizon, past that enticing wall
There awaits, the promise of streets paved with gold
Listen and dare to heed that soft enchanting call
Walk into the unknown, dare to be truly bold!

To be had, sailing beyond those sea foaming veils
That which the bravest adventurer's heart knows true
Treasures, romance as told in many sailor's tales
All beyond, far beyond, waiting for me and you!

Premium MemberOn the Importance of Passion

Passion drives the vehicle of success,
And all that is great in the world depends
[Said Georg Friedrich Hegel and me, I guess]
On which direction the supple mind bends.
One thing poets count on as sure as time
Is that resolve to see the poem done
Devotion to the word inside the rhyme
Revise! another vexing phrase to come.
Each stress brings rising to my heaving chest
When fine expressions find a place within
I read the piece and know it's not my best
But I've not the passion to start again.
