Love Speaks All Languages
‘Je t’aime’ he whispered with passion
By the Seine with the moon bright above
It sounded so very romantic
French, they say, is the language of love
‘Ti amo’ declared the young Roman
As he courted his lady so sweet
Mario, though, was a real gigolo
And Maria he’d met on the street!
‘Ich liebe dich’ said Fritz to his fraulein
With earnest and serious intent
‘Ve shall march to ze bedroom heute Abend
Unt zen you vill know vhat I meant!’
In Japan it is rather a mouthful
When expressing so deep an emotion
‘Watashi wa, anata o aieimasu’ though,
Is always said with devotion
‘Se agap-o’ is Greek for ‘I love you’
And the ancients knew all the joys
Of loving and how to have fun times
Especially the men and the boys!
But whatever the language that’s spoken
Whatever the country or clime
Love is an eternal emotion
And we’ll express it time after time.

A wealthy old man in his fifties,
Loved a young girl he thought was just nifty.
His friends didn't like her.
They called her a piker.
But the old man said she was just spiffy.
He wished to marry the fraulein.
Asked his friends, "Do you think she'll be mine?"
I have plenty of money,
And she's such a honey.
Oh sure! Tell her you're 99.

Two silhouettes
toe-tapping on an enchanted moonbeam
A nighttime romantic dalliance
Two starry-eyed lovers,
so much in love
So living a dream
Their love has this kind of feel ---
a touch of soft fleece fantasy,
a taste of honey flavored surreal
They got a love that flows deeper
than the waters falling down the mountains of Paraguay
Lots of cool peppermint kisses on a cold winter's day
Two hand-in-hand lovers,
so much in love,
So living a dream
Just a happy monsieur and his smiling fraulein
They have a love that floats higher
than two snow geese flying across the Himalayan sky at twilight
Plenty of hot chocolate kisses on a tropical summer night
Their love has this kind of feel ---
a touch of satin and velvet embrace,
a taste of saffron lips cinnamon laced
Two blooming tulips
dancing on a morning rainbow sunbeam
A lifetime romantic fragrance
Two bright-eyed lovers,
so very much in love
So living a dream,
living the life they they always dreamed of

Outside the city, tasty pomegranates grow,
the Wakefields look forward to delayed honeymoon.
British coffee merchant, James was raised in Bordeaux.
Each day, they sample wines after lunch, after noon;
sober sweethearts smile, their selections apropos.
New to their palates - pomegranate/cranberry,
two acidic fruits, both improve in the blending;
secret recipes mix sweetness with pungency.
The two lovers delve in, raw tastes that are trending;
mixing with dry merlot, a cheese rich and creamy.
James relishes sharing his past with Mallory,
his new bride of three weeks and his dearest delight.
It is here, she'll meet his extended family.
It’s here they foster new clients, enjoy old sights.
Here, they reserve a right and preference for coffee.

Instead of drinking coffee in the cafés of Berlin,
two years have passed; we find our Fraulein has moved once again -
Fraulein Wexler is now employed at London’s Coffee Sense.
While in Berlin she’d met a barista par excellence,
Toji, who proposed a job in the coffee industry.
Pardon the digression, while I tell you the back-story.
Toji’s dad sells coffee in the London vicinity;
he visited her often when she moved to Germany.
His stopovers, more frequent, once he met her new-found friend,
soon his proposal was marriage, her maiden state to end.
Yes, once he met Fraulein Wexler, the rest is history
London was the next big move; thanks to matchmaker Toji.
Instead of drinking coffee in the cafés of Berlin,
Our Fraulein Wexler is planning a wedding in London.
Next Tuesday, she will become Lady Wakefield of Soho,
a quiet affair in the gardens near Maison Bertaux.
Needless to say,Toji will be there for each wedding guest -
brewing a mix of Dad's own choosing – coffee at its best.

German workaholic,
jilted as a young bride
never knew a lover's grace
denying a broken heart
she studied marketing
Munich melodramatic,
content within her world of work
no romantic evenings,
no late night rendezvous
plainly all-business, but magic,
a charming, female financier
Bar mates with nostalgia
bid her farewell remembering
she was one glass of wine or maybe two
Transferring five hours north
ready for a change
Fraulein's boss wishes she would work
instead of drinking coffee in the cafés of Berlin.

Valentines Wishes On Dresden
Awakened before sleep had settled in
she peered out to the night of Dresden's way
and though her hero had no war to win
she blew a kiss to him, as if to say
"mein Fuhrer, this, your Fraulein dreams of you
and vishes you could feel this love of mine
I've done most everything a girl could do
but foolish, hope to be your valentine."
And then the bombs fell from a troubled sky
as if mere kisses from the Butcher's lips
before she'd even ask her Heaven why
her world was blown apart by groaning ships;
the understanding of it all is rare
in part because the world just doesn't care.

Limerick : Once a Firebrand Fräulein from the Black Forest
Once a Firebrand Fräulein from the Black Forest
In winter went out to cut wood sans vest
In fact sans Lederhose
Nor even horse fire hose
So she got fired on wood with zest.
or
So she got fired for good in jest.
or
So she got fired by Crook in earnest.
or
So she got fired in crook by Earnest.
or
So she got fired with Earnest in the nest.
(and so on and on…)

Ricky, you may have been around the world.
You have seen many different flags unfurled.
Is it true you found a girl wherever you went?
I would say your time was very well spent.
You knew a pretty senorita down in Mexico.
Up in Alaska, you saw a cute little Eskimo.
Your sweet fraulein in Berlin made your heart yearn.
A China doll in Hong Kong waited for your return.
A few nights were shared with a Polynesian baby.
You had a good time there, and I don’t mean maybe.
Nobody will disagree you were a traveling man.
You attracted women as well as any man can.
You are gone now, so there is no longer a choice.
However, we are thankful we can still hear your voice.

Vive la difference !
Both are a fine dine.

Vive la difference!
Both bake well if to hand
