Waddle with me in a downpour of rain
Singing in a symphonious refrain
Jumping in puddles, splashing everyone
Simply because we will have lots of fun.
We'll fluff up our feathers, inhale fresh air
Twist and shake until we have no breath there
Because we are smarties, we have it cracked
And expertly do a ducky class act.
One two and then quack, one two and then splash
Allow alluring eyelashes to flash
Look to the left and then look to the right
Dancing and prancing from morning to night.
Then we can dream elating ducky dreams
In the wondrous world of fantasy themes
Arriving there, surely one can't do wrong
Waddling to the tune of a ducky song.

A string of starlings strung out on a wire,
over a road bridge
above a freeway.
It's cold, it is sleeting,
its November.
The line hums,
I can't hear the hum,
but the birds can,
they fluff up stiff feathers
they cling to that warm sound,
they listen,
their tightly gripped claws
listen as thin boned legs
ever so slightly
vibrate
to that nonexistent heat source.
The sky continues to howl around them.
Oddly,
strangely,
they may survive -
hard to know for sure.
An hour later, driving back
the starlings are still on the line.
Don't know if any dropped dead
I didn't count them before.
In my head an old vinyl record
plays Glen Campell.

A bald eagle sports white hair and a craggy face
He’s admired and feared for his power and grace
Though when I see him next to a brown-hair
~ ‘baldy’ has even more fluff up there

Will the thrown newspaper
land on the lower or upper step?
The odds are forever even.
The percolator has mixed together.
a thousand mornings
yet it arrives in normal time,
as one brew.
Outside, twiggy beds creak in the treetops.
leafy blankets unroll.
The dawn gathers enough weight,
to fluff up pillows of sunlight.
We find ourselves on the verge,
of all previous awakenings,
swinging one tentative leg,
to touch a floor
that rises up to meet us.

Three chickadees on a branch
huddle together in the winter cold
they fluff up their feathers
one has his head tucked sleeping
two look about as the wind blows
beyond, the sky is frigid blue

I'm waiting on a tradesman
I've been waiting now for months
The place is falling down around me
While I'm down in the dumps
The plumbings making noises
The lightings on the blink
Can someone fix the cupboards
And replace the laundry sink
Please fluff up the insulation
A paint job wouldn't go amiss
All of this I can't do myself
Because my skill set is remiss
My job is pushing pen and paper
And its only now I realise
That in hindsight my career choice
Was perhaps somewhat unwise
I could be making the big bucks
And raking in lots of dough -
Oh, if only l'd been a tradesmen
I wouldn't have this tale of woe!

Fifteen years past
love swung down
from its candy-apple tree
and took hold of us both
by each ankle.
You wore high heels
like Cinderella,
they were uncomfortable
but were bedroom perfect.
The hotel was nothing fancy,
just glitzy enough.
Fifteen years on we are still alive,
old folks sickness notwithstanding,
all perfectly situated near
a local Hospital.
Fifteen years from here
we may be moderately wealthy.
I have seen the ‘moderately wealthy’
they often are not so ideal,
but
their financial cushions
are perfect.
Maybe we will be divorced or dead,
perhaps not even nearly wealthy;
our worn out cushions
wearing thin.
Every once in a while
perfection,
like a circle
comes back again to fluff-up
our hopes.
It’s good to be here
getting on each other’s nerves.
I mean if we were not here being so perfect
we might as well be at Walmart shopping for shoes
or something -
I dunno.

A winter wonder
outside my window
of pure pristine snow
the ground painted white
meets . . . a white-gray sky
The birds fluff up
their snow feathers
holding . . . branches
~ ~ tweeting a song ~~
Now, snowflakes,
are . . . . drifting
soft ** they * fall **
Oh yes
I love ~
snow!

Mr. Trumpington-Trump
was a powerful fat cat
and his unruly hair ruffled this way and that
and he said what he thought
with great drama and noise
and he had a big territory with big toys
Mr. Trumpington-Trump
wanted to make a wall
on the border of Mexico, built very tall
and no-one understood
why he wanted it so
for they loved eating tacos, and liked Mexico
Mr. Trumpington-Trump
did not like terrorists
and the very thought made his claws curl into fists
and immigration
made him fluff up and hiss
there were few things that made him more angry than this.
Mr. Trumpington-Trump
is not fluffy or sweet
he would never roll over at anyone's feet
and he is to this day
still alive and healthy
and still, to his people, a great frenemy.

I ask for water that's all I do,
Perhaps a bit more sun,
Give me love and shelter too,
And I'll fluff up like a bun.
Selfless I give and give more,
And ask for nothing in turn,
Be glad and well while I'm bored(d),
Because anytime I can make you burn.
I have nothing to live or die for,
No reason to carry on,
I'm no one's and I'll never be your(s),
But will be missed when gone.

What’s in Your Teddy
The latest trend in motherhood
Is bound to do the child no good
For now they place with tender care
The placenta in a teddy bear
Then place that in the baby’s bed
To nestle there beside his head
To sleep with him both day and night
But something tells me this ain’t right
For when the kid is old enough
He’ll find what they used to stuff
And fluff up Teddy then you’ll see
He’ll spend years and years in therapy
Mdailey 4/15/12
I found this blurb on the internet this morning and had to write about it.

Patience
Patience is something I know that I lack,
I’m one waiting line away from a heart attack.
I want immediate satisfaction, immediate result,
I’m running a race, not dancing a waltz.
I’m always early, I’m never late,
Procrastination is something I hate.
I’m not one to sit on my hands,
My attention span is like a rubber band.
Pull me too far, I’ll snap and break,
Yet you tease me to see how much I can take.
You say “a good woman is worth waiting for”.
And you’re smiling all-the-while I’m pacing the floor.
“Patience my dear” you say with a grin,
As we walk out the door, late once again.
Evening finally comes and you’re ready for bed,
You fluff up the pillow under your head.
“Are you coming My Love?” a passionate cry,
“In a minute Sweetheart, the ballgames a tie”.
Patience!

Oh parrot dear wither have you gone
Leaving this tender nest of love
My heart cries all alone
An empty niche since you’ve flown off
You were nature’s best
Your voice a melodious tune
The shimmering grey on your breast
Which would fluff up when you’d croon
May the heavens above open for you
My heart does pray so
Sweet memories of you
In my life will forever grow.
