Little flames 
surrounded by brick 
            Christ on the cross 

Silent Angels 
waiting for the service 
              to begin 

Wood, incense, dusty books,

beacon
flickers,
offers
comfort
and hope,
time roams.

I watch
flames leap
candle
takes me
back in
time to
my home.

I hear
echoes, 
voices
from past
from those
long since
deceased. 

I smell
mother,
her scent
wafting
through time’s 
boundless 
retreat.

The Flames of Love

Fuel~

that first knowing look
eyes meet, a warmth grows inside
you lay the kindling
trees beginning that old dance
laying stones to contain it

Heat~

strike sparks of desire
this heat grows into hot flames
keep adding the fuel
the dance that builds what then will
burn hot and settle, steady

Oxygen~

the flames may waver
blow on embers with kisses
they need constant care
flames burn hot with whispered

A riot born of flames and rage

A burned up system of control
A revolt spoken with flames 
Silence was no longer an option
Peace had been exhausted 
The only language they communicate 
Violence 
The police man specialises in brutality when it comes to the black man

'Stop and search'
An excuse they use
To abuse 
The 'blacks"
Used as a slur
By the oppressor
As if it's poison, as

SURROUND OURSELVES WITH THOSE WHO FAN OUR FLAMES

May we be blessed as we build the fire that lights our life….

not put that fire out.

I watched as the city burned in flames, a phoenix consuming its wings in flight

the streets transforming into rivers of fire, spirits freed from the cage of time,
politicians arrive like sorcerers, claiming they can tame the wind with words,
proclaiming promises that dissipate, leaves of a season of forgetfulness,
their echo is a dried-up spring of hopes,

Temptation

Flames that ignites
bright red at its core,
ravenous hunger linger
overwhelmed by its
hot desire and through 
the night it burns,

its visible heat scorches
the skin of its next victim,
leaving a mark of sole
ownership, it kisses 
endearingly seducing
in enchantment, 

torturous feeling reigns
in a field of thrones caused
by a leakage of subtle
attraction,

a rose in its prime curves
and twists along these

From ashes and scars, she rises high,
A heart once broken, now touches the sky.
Each pain a lesson, each tear a flame,
Fuel to the fire, igniting her name.

A mask she wears, but her eyes reveal,
The storm within that’s learning to heal.
Bravery blooms where fear once lied,
Now wings of a phoenix, she spreads open wide.

I dive deep into the painting on the wall, a portal to another world,
each blink feels like an eternal echo of unwritten love,
yet on that mysterious night, I found
