excited dad and son
jazzed for vacation fun
drive up the winding road 
see nature's grace bestowed 
finding dreams and desire
burned by forest fire

Smokey was off duty, but the fire department was there to tell us to turn around and go back down the hill. So, I went 180 degrees around the mountain, only to find the road blocked on the other side. Yet, our destination, Idyllwild, emerged unscathed, but we never got there.
