Flak Poems

Tandoori or Tangerine Tan shorts no2

Satsuma Tumour

Sense of Humour?

That Groomer Rumour

Cometh the Hour

Cometh the TAN!

People Power Glower should Flower

Grassy brassy knolls

But proles at the polls

Sold their Souls

To joust like Faust

Ignore Marcel Proust

Cower before the Ivory Tower

Odd bod elite’s law

Tweets of Sod and God

No Enlightening

Repeats the prism

Or algorithm beats

Every criticism schism

“Ism”..a frightening..lightning rod

Pot..black..kettle knack

Debauched cheats pedal to the metal

Out of whack flak attack

Unsettle our mettle

Plot to settle that score

Scorched and torched serfs

Any petal in fine fettle

& the earth's core

Sideways

You practice and you train,
you wrack your damn brain,
you push through the pain,
it still goes
sideways.

You’re up before dawn,
give it guts and brawn,
till the last ounce is gone,
it still goes
sideways.

You have all the tools,
and follow regs and rules,
like all the other fools,
it still goes
sideways.

You do it all right,
keep it in the fight,
hustling day and night,
it still goes
sideways.

No matter what you do,
how much you go through,
all the s*** you knew,
it still goes
sideways.

Sideways.
Sideways.
Always goes sideways.
Off the rails.
Off the track.
Backa**wards.
Catching flak.
Sideways.
Things get crazy.
S*** hits the fan.
Goes **** up.
Gotta pay the man.
Sideways.

Things gone south.
Went to the dogs.
Gone to hell.
Lost in the fog.
Just sideways.
Sideways.

Premium MemberVolcano Maricano!

Held it in, so strong.
For too damn long!
Bit my tongue,
    it bled blood-red.
Cracks ran rampant,
    as the eruption spread,
    the pressure built.
The head-cap exploded -
Volcano Maricano!

Flash to Ash
Dread is Bled
Scene is Black
Flak is Sacked
Volcano Maricano!

Ashes flew,
molten lava spew,
red burning streams
dribbling down,
defacing, everything in
its path! Smiling!

Flash to Ash
Dread is Bled
Scene is Black
Flak is Sacked
Volcano Maricano!
Volcano Maricano!

invincibility had been a difficult pastime
the flak vest of insecurity and coverups
had managed to inflate anxieties and fears
to the bursting point of impromptu explosion

the festering boil had to be lanced at any cost
for resentments anger hurt and self-harm to subside
a bullet proof illusion was no longer an option
to call it friendly fire would be an understatement

what started as a splinter soon became a red-hot cudgel
incising the mind soul body complex of delusions
yet no more fully detached from valid emotions
he decided that having feeling was better than amnesia

Reactions

That's all she wrote,
It was all my doing,
The words she spoke,
Heavy and looming.

All my reactions,
Of anger and pain,
Because of her actions,
On me, a stain.

I tried my best,
To get you back,
You needed a vest,
For all my flak.

I'm sorry this is how it ends,
There's no other option I see,
My heart, it rends,
To be set free.

Premium MemberRejecting Interjection

In quiet tones, I speak out loud,
Let me speak freely, without disruption,
So hear me out, before you overcrowd.
For when unbroken, I avoid corruption.

Let me speak freely, without disruption,
To weave each word with thread so fine,
Like a tapestry interlaced, line on line.

So hear me out, before you overcrowd.
Your time will come to have your say,
When I'm sure you will make me pay.

For when unbroken, I avoid corruption.
My train of thought stays right on track,
Chugging along, without your flak attack.

Am I Light

Am I light or dispersed star
Scatter or straight to all earthly uneven
Whether the stray comet to unfollow
Chaos or chord to sundry upheavals
Mortal cry pebbles the enshrined path
Luminious moon guide where gleam
Wise that turn to sightless wanderer
Eternal furnace alloy even those flak
Whip of whims encage all beacons
Noble deeds dacay ,utterly numb
Trying our morale in turbulence of time
Comforts or clutter of needs ,indefinite
Men walk towards golden or grey gates
Surrender in mounting rungs and ropes
Dreams shatters like lifeless dunes
Homeless sands beneath benevolent sun
Arrays of aim pierce like pungent arrows
Win or wane for fit to survive in moor world
Featherless souls in sheer free fall;
Can there be ceaseless outbound fountain?
That fearless and frisk in favors
Solo my spirit sway all silos earth bring
Let mind sleeps sight on alpine snow
The genial breeze to free and glow
Altar the heart with care to unrest
Torch of mankind ablaze with brave
Holy human share blessings that unbent
Wish the nourishing rain to furtile and flow
Generous greats render and row.

A Pat On the Back

When you’re anxious ‘bout something,
Just give it a crack
And you might end up earning
A pat on the back.

For nerves can wreak havoc
And fill you with doubt
So you think you’ll be stuck
With no easy way out.

It’s much safer to cancel
Or stop ‘fore you start
If your fear of disaster
May tear you apart.

But if you can breathe deeply
And step up and try,
Things might just work out well
And you’ll feel such a high

That you’ll wonder why you
Gave yourself so much flak
When what you now deserve
Is a pat on the back.

Floyd's Lament

Floyd’s Lament
Why were you so harsh with me-
Because I am black?
Why were you harsh with me-
To impose your flak?
Why were you harsh and cruel
didn’t you hear me cry?
Why were you harsh I ask
You can’t hear me from the sky.
Does your shame not torment you
For the change you’ve caused
That vague false so true
Will you not answer or pause?
This deed has sparked a fire
In every heart humanly true
Like a contagious wildfire
Do you see any difference between me and you?

Backlash

The publisher of Roald Dahl’s books
Thought changes should be made
To make the books “inclusive,”
But attention has been paid

With many writers speaking out
To criticize the plan
(Despite the fact that Dahl’s ideas
Made many not a fan).

An example that I read of
Would remove the use of “fat”
If a character was overweight –
Now what’s the use of that?

What they’d substitute, I wonder;
Still, most children are aware
Of dishonesty in writing
As in life, which isn’t fair.

Yet another word replacement
Would be “parent” used instead
Of both “mother” and of “father,”
If one’s gone – divorced or dead.

Or if someone has two mommies
Or two dads, perhaps they mused
That by substituting “parent,”
Kids would not then be confused.

Still, a writer’s words are sacred
And reflective of the times,
Therefore, posthumous replacements
Feel like literary crimes.

Now the publisher’s decided,
After unexpected flak,
There’ll be two competing versions,
Which, to me, seems out of whack.

Premium MemberBy the Silvery Light of a Moon

The Southern Cross’ trajectory across
the night sky marks the hours that come to pass.
Her prone figure no longer an hourglass;
by the silvery light of Phoebe’s* gloss.
I cling to the edge of the bed, toss
and turn—my reminiscing turns to farce.
Hebe† has long since fled and passion is sparse.
As inscriptions on wedding rings embossed:
‘May our love last forever and a day.’
Eos, turn me into a cicada black!‡
Unlike lovesick Orpheus,** I’m not fey
and I would definitely not turn back
for another round of intimate play.
As lover, she had given me the sack!
I endure constant flak
from my mates down at the pub over pint
that I’m in a terrific moral bind;
inspiration is slack.
If only we could turn back aging clock:
Oh, Selene,†† you might espy lovers who flock
to her bed and lose track.

God

I don't point
I don't cast blame
With a log in my eye
As brothers are the same
A hypocrite I'd be giving flak
Care to let your judgement linger
As three of your fingers will point back
See now you know when you point a finger

Jack and Starlight

Name is Jack
Coloured black
Life on track
With some flak
And a smack

Named Starlight
She’s all right
With girls rite,
For a bite
Can she fight?

There Is No Social Justice, Part Ii

...And in that lies the irony
of this whole ‘social justice’ phrase,
it exists to excuse racism,
to put a nice name on mere hate.

You want to hate pale people or
attack any one that succeeds,
just claim that it’s ‘social justice,’
then you can go and make them bleed.

You want to say bigoted things
and not have to take flak for it?
Just claim that it’s ‘social justice,’
and that your group ‘cannot be racist.’

You want to put quotas in place,
and get jobs that you have no earned?
Then just cry out ‘social justice,’
and watched those wrong-colored folk burn.

You want to smash and loot your town,
but now have to do time in jail?
Just say that it’s ‘social justice,’
and they let you go without fail.

We really shouldn’t be surprised,
the left always divides by race,
from slavery down to Jim Crow…
of course they’d cheerlead this disgrace.

But there’s no need to buy into
a concept that’s so disgusting,
justice can never be social,
it’s an individual thing.

Always.

Like the gunner laying out flak.
It’s quite the disturbing

No peace here.
It’s war.
