Premium MemberFinding Peace

Facing my new reality can be overwhelming
I am blessed to be the mother of two sons
one of which is accomplishing great things
here on earth and the other is in heaven

I have always been proud of both of my sons,
and of course, I love them both no matter what,
but it is difficult knowing that my youngest chose
heaven instead of earth

Why is that? He was plagued by mental illness
on earth and now he is whole and at peace,
what mother wouldn't want that for their child?
Why is it causing such grief for all of us?

Because we are human, and God's ways are
sometimes hard to understand, but I am hearing him
as he tells me to "rest in me"
So, I will rest and trust and hope to eventually find peace

Premium MemberANCESTORS ARE IMPORTANT

If you want to know why our ancestors are important…
here’s a little rule of thumb…

It’s difficult to know where we’re going…
If we don’t know who we came from.

Premium MemberConformity

Butting heads, locking horns
the difficult child of three
if any one was causing grief
It was always going to be me,
the stubborn chip
and that stubborn old block
never at ease we two
so I left and made a life for myself
far from the one you knew,
you pushed too hard
to tie me down
I went and you felt betrayed
you never saw my need to go
I could never see why you stayed

Premium MemberA Fragment of My Family

I found it so difficult to write a poem
about my biological mother
                          I finally
                            wrote “Oh, Mama”.

It is a sad poem about daughter/mother
relationship, like a crumpled picture
or a torn picture separating me,
being a fragmented piece of my family.

Will I get an answer why she
        treated me so differently?

                          No answer then.
                            Never will be.

Premium MemberUncle Walt

I am writing this poem for you today
Can’t believe you have really gone away
You were a beautiful person with a kind soul
It’s so difficult to say goodbye and let you go

Your laugh was infectious, your spirit always warm
You could put out family fires and calm the storms
Fond memories with you flood my mind, make me smile
I Remember when you tutored me, going the extra mile

I will cherish memories of our holiday celebrations
You always made them fun and special occasions
You are at peace now; I know it was your time to part
Memories of you Uncle Walt, I will hold close to my heart

Premium MemberAn Illness In the Family

There is an illiness in the family
My sister has a health problem
She went to see the doctor
He sent her for some tests

The doctor said it was stones
He said "we all get stone in the jaw"
"Nothing to worry about
For awhile she forgot about it

Soon more symptons found
This followed by more tests
At the hospital more tests
Followed by others in Toronto

All the tests
must be done
Waiting was so difficult to do
Wondering about the outcome
So june passed, July passed

August came went for results
The three of went to hear
It was not easy to listen to
Doctor just spoke the words

No one wanted to hear
:It is lung cancer"
For surgery to be done
Will be September 19th

For her surgery to be done
Doctor said -"It was caught
in time

Premium MemberA Bond So Tight

Like father, like son, amazing how that happens Seems inherent in families, an obligatory passion Unavoidable joy Since mine was a boy A bond so tight, difficult to fathom

Premium MemberLike Branches

Like branches of a rooted, sturdy tree

a family survives, each limb entwined,

to grow and nurture- embrace happily

   the joyfulness and sufferings combined.

On sunny days the branches lift to find

the beauty of blue skies and sparkling air.

On stormy ones, a teary, rain-like prayer

of joint compassion lightens up the blow.

Both difficult and easy times they share,

united through life's ceaseless ebb and flow.

Premium MemberThe Bible Needs An Interpreter 11022011

The Bible is extremely difficult to understand
Even by Bible scholars
It was written in languages long dead
In the manner and idiom of the time

To interpret the Bible the Bible
It is not only necessary to understand the languages in which the Bible was written
But to understand the languages in which the Bible was written
Had the time they were written

The Bible, Therefore has to be understood
And for Catholics, the Church
Guided by the Holy Spirit
Is the official guardian and infallible interpreter of the Bible

Premium MemberI Am With You

I AM WITH YOU

“I AM WITH YOU” so speaks the Divine Father
I am your master, your true principle
even your creator and I am for ever with you
         and a mystery chum

           You have to heed me
          especially when your reality
          seems murky and your obligations
difficult- do not waver nor blame me

           Draw near, my children
          listen to my commands
learn and be productive with out
          hesitation never forgetting that
I am with you both now and forever!
