Tumultuous time came unheralded
in my life that wandered in the wasteland.
When in the crushing clasp of suffering
my heart broke and writhed in pain,
I searched for the comfort of calm arms,
but found none to cling consoled.
Plunged in the stormy sea of agony,
I tried to swim through the dark night
to the safe shore afar not in sight.
I heard a voice from within tell me,
get detached from the delusive desire,
see hope dawn with the new sunrise.
My broken heart then grew wings,
flew free across the sunburst horizon
to the valley of blooming flowers,
where fragrance floated in spring air
under the cerulean serene sky,
that glistened on the grey of gloom.
In my tranquil mesmerized mind
the floral shower of beguiling bliss
drizzled with the cadence of ecstasy.
In the inner sanctum of sublime solitude
I sensed in the bud of essence the soul unfurls
piece by piece the petals of peace.

When Hell Is Full**
Sweet memories fade like old Navy clothing,
leaving an unpleasant taste in my mouth—
like a can of Grace corned beef with stale onions,
drizzled with oil; it was tolerable at the time.
Years have passed, yet those thoughts still
send chills down my spine. I utterly detest those moments
when the pain won’t let go.
Just as I was about to turn the key,
He walks toward the elevator,
the same old walk heading to that all-too-familiar place.
Vulnerability is weakness; voodoo may offer
only fleeting relief.
Sweet memories fade like old Navy clothing,
and a scorned wife never forgives—it’s a viper’s sting.
The dead cannot rest easily, knowing what
they have done.
Forgiveness carries a hefty price!!
and it’s dark. The living will move forward,
while the dead will roam this earth for eternity
When hell is full.

At calm dawn I gave you my sunburst day,
heart’s bay shined with bright hue,
for love drizzled colors new
while in your silk sky I flew.

The scarlet sun went down the halcyon horizon,
where the afterglow of the topaz twilight shimmered
upon the descending diaphragm of the onyx night.
The shining stars sprouted one by one in the milky way,
the cosmic dance of constellation began in the satin sky.
The grains of opaque darkness drizzled silently
from the curved cauldron of the bejeweled seamless sky.
Embroidered by sapphire the silky tapestry rolled out
from the cornucopia of the nocturnal exuberance,
as sequined stellar specks dissolved in argentine ambiance.
Serenading the song of her heart she floated like a fairy
through the mesmeric miasma of the cascading stardust,
to the recluse shore of the blue lagoon of my desire.
Unbound yearning danced on pearl-laced fervent waves
with the enchanting melody of her sonorous song.
The music of longing echoed in the sparkling sky,
resonating the rhythm of the symphony of her dreams.
The stars beckoned her song to the concerto of crescent moon,
as the waxing lunar lattice embellished the stellar tune,
resounding the refrain of the new beginning of our euphony.

We loved like a thunderstorm
Brief, but powerful
Before the thunder even started
There were warning signs
Like a slight breeze
And when lightning struck
It destroyed yet stopped after a while
But there would still be more lightning
And the rain drizzled
Like the tension always between us
The grayish blue clouds
Were like the barriers
Hiding your secrets from me
A thunderstorm always ends
And that's exactly what we did

And if today puts a period on forever
I’m glad I got to spend it with you
I’m glad we got to drink in a million golden sunsets
I’m glad we got to dance to our own music in the rain
I’m glad we got to laugh during the birth of a thousand sunrises
I’m glad we got to collect our tears to be used to soothe our pain
I’m glad we got to calculate the destined spaces where stars land
I’m glad we got to position our dreams on clouds suspended in an ocean of blue
I’m glad we got to sip from a delicious cup of honey drizzled silence
And if its time to stop chasing forever-together
I’m glad I get to cross the finish line with you

The sky’s first sugar high in three months,
overflowing with Spring’s sweet scent.
Drizzled with strawberry rain
that bleeding pastel sky
resembles a jar.
Puddles of jam
pool in drops.
Wipe those
lips.

Phyllo
Sweet taste of baclava.
Drizzled honey.
Crunchy walnuts.
Hint of nutmeg.
Warmed to delicate crispness.
My mouth waters.
Eyes light with delight.
Nose twitches in anticipation.
But…….
Here I stand at midnight.
My kitchen a doughy mess.
Rolling and re-rolling phyllo dough
My trials and tribulations
on display with cracked
and torn doughy pieces
spread across the counter.
Exhausted, ready to give up.
The baklava seems miles away.
Time wasted proving I can’t
make phyllo dough.
I slouch in my chair.
Depression seeps into my soul.
Then, with a grin, I remember
my favorite Greek restaurant opens
in the morning.

Feelings of worthlessness consumed Derek
Of course it rained today, ruining his last day off work
Drips and drops of disappointment drizzled down his dendrites
He heard his sigh before he recognized it as his soul giving up
Wasted life

I lay with languor praying for an answer I’d been seeking.
Azure glitter-drops splashed upon
the clean white sand nearby my feet.
I drifted into sleep then as wisps of clouds
in a sky mirroring the cerulean sea beneath it
wafted slowly like my slackening pensive thoughts.
I’d dozed and was awakened by gulls’ shrill long calls.
Instantly, I was jolted by twilight, and I
saw crimson and persimmon devouring sky.
Slathered-on apricot and rubescent streaks
formed the backdrop to the seagulls’ piercing shrieks.
Some saffron deliciousness was also in my view
when just as suddenly came the answer to
the question I’d been pondering before my nap.
It came as if the sunset had the sound of a snap!
Gamboge, tangerine and raspberry sorbet
drizzled into sea at the end of that day.
Mesmerized and well-pleased, I lingered there.
Dusk turned into night with the hush of a prayer.

Despicable
How it drips down the side
Bubbling up from the innards of the pot
I can hear the sizzling
The smell of the butter drenched corn
I throw in a bit of salt and pepper
To spice up the contents
Cream splashes up, upon my cheek
I leave it.
The light burning sensation begins to fade
As I step away, breathing intensely
This alone reminded me of my younger years.
Frightened yet interested
In how the cream drizzled corn was hesitant to conform.
How I yearn for the old me
Who could make batches of milky substance,
Yet now I struggle
With the makings of one
My fingers felt greasy
Like those nights years ago
How I would work every evening
Hoping you enjoyed the taste
My eyes sparkling,
Lost in the thoughts
The slurping and screeching
Of the boiling brew
The fragrance of corn graces my nostrils
Flashes of memories flood in
Your body, yet again
Covered in the opalescent matter
You used to love my cream corn chowder
The same way I still desire you
Yet there’s always a bowl of higher quality.
Saddened, as I turn the flame on low
Let it seethe,
Let it come to a halt.
Now I await to enjoy
Like those feasts years ago

Enchanted by the mirage of florid ecstasy,
the flower in my desiccated heart blossomed
when your charisma drizzled on me
like the soothing rare summer rain of oasis.
The flame of my heart was stoked
by the breeze of the yearning spring.
Flaring beauty of glowing fresco flashed
on the beguiled blushing face of desire.
The wilted petals were dislodged
by the destructive dust storm of desertion.
The split flower saw the dreams in debris,
its shriek was lost in the quietude of desert.
As you drifted away from my stormy horizon,
thunder of torment ripped my forsaken flower.
The broken heart suffering mute pain I protected
for you to hear silence speak in emotive eloquence.
