Premium MemberI Will Not Dance With Death

I'm going to tell you a tale that may frighten you
about the precursor of death that will pursue...

There's iridescent beauty found on his ebony wings
but always of impending death his cawing sings.
He perches as a grim reaper on the fence, taunting
as if on my gravestone to bring fear and daunting

A dance step to his left then quickly to the right
He takes wicked pleasure, but I will feel no fright
for never will I weep and as long as I remain alive
His corvine refrain fortifies my strength to survive

Black as pitch he sits, fluttering wings on my gate
I refuse to accept him as foreshadower of my fate
I'm not destined to be the carrion that he will feast
In shadows, day and night, lingers the black beast

Jeering with an evil stare, are bright beady eyes
His dark presence I've come to loathe and despise
Blackguard! I shall curse him until my last breath
Begone raven! Today, I will not waltz with death

Now you know the tale of what keeps me awake
It's the macabre one whose thirst I refuse to slake
I am still alive and have not yet fallen from grace
So, I will not let him lead me to an unholy place

Premium MemberIs Spencer a Girl's Name

She has such a girlie truck, she must be quite a woman.
How do you know it’s a woman’s truck?
Look at the color. It is Fuchsia.
So Fuchsia has to be a woman’s color?
Um, yah!
He is such a redneck.
I say, “watch and learn.”
My pal Spencer comes tearing out of the house.
He is wearing a tank top and cut offs that are way too high.
His pockets are hanging out of the fringy slits!
There is an orange lei around his neck.
He gives me a little dance step and a twirl.
“What was that?” the redneck asked.
That was my friend, Spencer. I say.
“Is Spencer a girl’s name?” He asks me.
I walk away.

Dance of Gladiators and Amazons

ah! ’tis blue azure greet’ng the dark maidens
dancers of the ancient drums of my warriors
yea! the ever-ready danc’ng mbari maidens
o, dancers amid the smooth-throat’d hunters –

’tis like an ever-flow’ng rhythmic drumm’ng
of my ageless clan where the rever’d eaglets
made the classic olympia in wing-drumm’ng
amid the love-rov’ng griots, pages and priests!

and your mother – the mother of the amazons
waits, waist-bent, amid the ev’r-wait’ng gray-hairs –
and your hunters naked, ready-pois’d with guns
and panthers snarled under the scorch’ng sun-rays;

o, the gladiators and amazons came along my banks
ah, bring’ng this eternal dance-step to niger’s banks!

Premium MemberJack Frost

Jack Frost, power over ice and snow

Appearing like a sinister mischief maker

Cold winter frosty, fern-like patterns you make on our close windows

Kissing the earth with your bitter brrr cold frolic, making our teeth chatter

Frost, ice, and snow you stir to life as your music is

Responsible for the shivers your frosty weather brings with each dance step you take

Obliging us with your artistic talent painting foliage red, yellow, brown, and orange

Sculpturing a dazzling, frozen, seductive wonderland of snow

Tantalizing us to retire around the radiant amber, warm crackling fire

The Dance of Butterflies

The butterflies fly into the sky
dancing in the sunlight
as they breathe the warm summer
and inhale the warmth spring of the day.

Spread their wings
slowly moving, twirling around,
That dance along the wind
that adds beauty
to the flowers that bloom.

As they dance over my head
and perch on my shoulder,
they kiss my hand.

Come with me dance with the butterflies
as we follow their dance step
one, two and three.
We will fly, ride on their wings
clothed in fragile, like a rainbow
that colors around.

September Fall

September leaves fallen and flew towards the empty sky.
enchanting my world to bring glorious color,
purple, gold, and yellow shades that sing a blue chorale.
That echoes beneath the silence of September fall, to
embrace the sounds that bring, the
melodious symphony that plays deep in my heart.
Bringing back the old familiar string of yesterday, to
engulf every note that sways on dancing clouds
remembering the dance step, I forget somehow.

No Hotter Dance

It’s hot and it’s fiery, it’s better shared by two
The Matchbook Mambo is the dance step for you
You ignite with your footsteps, so wild and free
And burn up the dance floor, that’s what you do

Put your hand on her backside and pull her so tight
Don’t be afraid, it’s a dance, so dare to ignite
Let your feet then move to the music and the beat
It’s a dance made of passion that’s sure to delight

So, everyone reading, get out on the floor
Grab your partner, dance away, like never before
Turn up the music, of your heart, set to beat
You’ll never dance another dance, of this I am sure
