my dog, Beau loves Rex the TV dog detective from Canada
his head turns from side to side as he watches Rex
This dog is always in a precarious situation
Having to climb over semis and bridges to jump bad guys
Bad guys with guns who have horrible aim, never hitting Rex
Remnants of the 1960’s tv show called Lassie
Beau is barking instructions to Rex now, warning him.
It is hilarious to watch.
Often times Beau tries to climb up the cabinet into the TV
More entertaining than the times he catches himself in the mirror
Or barks warnings to his own reflection in our shiny credenza.
More later, Beau and I are on the edge of our seats. Rex is in trouble.

I want to write a poem today
but the wood insists on ritual—
Pledge and patience, lemon oil,
a soft cloth circling
what must be remembered.
The coffee table’s judging me.
The hutch has turned authoritarian.
Even the banister
is giving me splintery side-eye,
and the bureau just rolled its drawers.
My muse, naturally,
has curled up in the dust bunny
beneath the credenza,
refusing to come out
until the piano gleams.
So I write this poem as an act
of defiance in the face
of domestic tyranny.
Screw the chores I say,
art matters more anyway.

Scientists will soon have a vaccine
To end the battle with Covid 19
Our doors and windows will be opened wide
Inviting fresh air to come inside
I was arranging some flowers on my credenza
And to my horror in flu enza

Has this ever happened to you
While bending over tying your shoes
You let go a big fella
Destroying the credenza
You thump your head and don't know who's who

sfidare le credenza
stava bevendo
mele rosse fermentate
mondo e
ono spazio misterioso
espandere e definere
raffinare
la talpa nero
sulla sua spalla nuda
si presente como un paese
su globe
ho dimenticato
quello che e un paise
dove e il confirme
pensiero contemplare
esperimenti
avere la giusto
prospettiva
cos'e giusto che c'e
a destra si baciano
i tuoi pensieri nella baia delle
tue labre invitanti
dormiamo ora
sotto la coperta rosa strappata

Someone said I could probably write
About furniture and kitchen utensils
And still put a funny twist on my poem
So I'll try to live up to my potential
You must possess a strange old noodle
To know how my crazy brain works
Observing the simplest things everyday
And giving them a twist and a jerk
Sure ain't no genius but ain't no dummy
So here's my attempt at appeasing
Cathie and I own this beautiful credenza
With imported china quite pleasing
Our living room set is a joy to behold
So comfy and inviting it beckons
I hear it calling for my afternoon naps
Most likely I'll give in I reckon
Now what about our lovely canister set
A charming addition to our counter
The colourful pillows on our comfy sofa
Can certainly be a heart pounder
Bet you think I've gone over the edge
But whenever I'm challenged in kind
I quickly respond and delve into my brain
Where oodles of rhymes I do find!

Gold goblet lifts steadily to yielding lips,
his reservations are buried deep within.
Ornate credenza displays one yellow tulip
waning as holy water cleanses him from sin.
His reservations are buried deep within.
The servant fears he's not pious enough.
Waning, as holy water cleanses him from sin,
prayers for his lord rise like wings from a bluff.
The servant fears he's not pious enough
for service by hands of faith and devotion.
Prayers for his lord rise like wings from a bluff
dipped in wine laced with pernicious potion.
For service by hands of faith and devotion,
ornate credenza displays one yellow tulip.
Dipped in wine laced with pernicious potion,
gold goblet lifts steadily to yielding lips.

The children,
Thick and plush upon the rug,
Sat meaningful
As they listened
With weathered ears.
Tiny Jennifer is seen
Below a crook in the credenza,
Fingering the supple threads
Of her mothers
Laced persona.
Good night my sweet prince,
Her smile says
As the thieves perch
In their thickets even as we speak.
Swallowing deep
In the depths of their acquittal
And drunk with
Alternated breaths
And visions.
And I,
I watched with a crooked grin
And isolated rubbernecking
And three cheers for the end of innocence.
A tropical fire alit in my mind.
And I,
I sat among
Their crystallized eyes and wept
With petty mass destruction,
Heating with a passion
That burns beyond my silent tongue.
