The Last Days of Autumn

It was a mild autumn day
far enough from summer’s heat
 awaiting winter’s cold bite

The brilliant shafts of sunlight
ignited the vibrant colors 
of autumn’s falling leaves

I watched them as they fell
tumbling down
all around me

Like outrageously large confetti
every color
from vivid scarlet to warm brown

I ran through the leaves
tossed them in the cool air
then sat amongst them on

Your are dressed up in cool nights and days,
Showing pretty colors always.

My Colors

My colors shift with every hour of the day—
most often brown, sometimes blue. 
When fatigue sets in, I may turn yellow; 
in moments of joy, I blush in shades of red. 

I believed autumn had come when the cherry tree shed its leaves 
and the flowers faded, even the hardy petunias nearing their end.

I Am Violet

If I were a color, I'd imagine myself being bright 
It wouldn't be brown, or yellow or white
 
It would be something kind of, like in-between 
A pinkish/red, or a Orangish/dark green 

Silver is too sparkly, and gold is too bold 
Bronze' not too shabby, but it'll make me look old
 
Purple doesn't cut it,

Flashes of Colors In The Dark

This is such a dark room
that needs a dust & broom
and two lovers' attention,
if I had a cane to raise,
but I'll fall so suddenly.

Lost within my tomb,
cobwebs are on the rise,
Silently is the tune,
If I could kiss you on the cheek,
I may see some colour,
return back to my face,
and moist becomes the lips,
that fingers run

Colors of the Wind

pause to hear a storm
listen to its vast noises
admire its voices
winds that blew in infamy
crackled as romantic fires

state huts wade through muck
spiders and newborns pancaked
trouble from the breeze
it stretched over our tall walls
but into their tenements

furious horses
unimagined violence
warfare wind wallops
nests shaken out by breezes
some people gather again

I am Turquoise

I am forever roaming, turquoise,
Thrashing, with a roaring noise.

I'm often kissed by sunset's lips,
Red in passing, on endless trips.

Reflected in my sparkling deeps,
The sky I once was, often peeps.

I'm foliage and flowers and birds.
I am so much, but I'm also earth!

Lately, I'm more blue than green.
Save the planet! Keep it all clean!
