Grazing upon my hide,
lumbering,
ravenous beasts
farm,
crop, and munch upon
the harvest rich-fields
of my squamous integrum.
The dermatologist tells me not to worry,
that it’s just the normal microscopic
fauna and flora.
They clean away the dead,
vacuuming-up
the desiccated debris
and dander.
“We are not snakes” he says,
“we need help to shed.”
I can’t help thinking of those millions
of par-blind,
pig-like,
tank-shaped organisms
forever thriving,
feasting,
and then they themselves
decaying
upon my skin,
and they all-unknowing
that they are
most definitely not
the greatest creatures
ever to have roamed the earth!
Instinctual animalcules
constantly changing
the density
of the shadows I cast,
the thickness of my shedding.
Mites nibbling away at my silhouette,
until either it seems to be
far too heaped and corporal,
or way too transparent
to be seen in strong sunlight.

The cleaners are closed
The barber shop too
Pandemic madness
For many, quite a few.
Hairdressers slam shut
You cannot buy wood glue
Schools not open
Because of the dhrammed flu.

What's up with dry cleaners
What is it that they do
They're using nothing wet
What's this potion they use
Take our clothes to the back
Come back they're on the rack
You never smell anything on your clothes
What goes on in the back do you suppose
There's no sound of any machines going
Are they scraping with their nails, then blowing
Metal hangers, Ferris wheel of clothes
What actually goes on, nobody knows
Their always there to meet you at the desk
Why does it take a couple days, this quest
There can't be much room in the back of the place
The merry go round takes most of the space
Have you ever known someone in this business
Does it seem to you a little suspicious
No dry cleaners equipment ever for sale
To do the job, what does it entail
No matter how old, the business remains
Even the signs are old, no one complains
Next time your there, try to get to the back
Get some information, and get some facts
Maybe they send the clothes out somewhere
Don't you think we should be at least aware

To have all the money in the world
That was dropped onto the ground
Every day, would uniform richness
But that isn't the way it is
Eyes glued to the pavement?
Head hung to the streets?
To every place trampled
There it goes
A poor, poor presence
Trying to have it all
Out of gas for everything
Lucidly latched onto a hopeful head trip
Wearing masks to guise dreams whilst knowing
Its belly will not go up in flames.
Penurious promise shall control all
When the presence does nothing
But observe.

We use strong detergent
To remove adamant strain
And make cloths look like new
But soft tears we shed
To clean the dirt
Accumulated for long
Inside our heart
To look forward fresh with a new view .

Hi- this is Dana from Quality Cleaners
I’m calling to see if you need your carpets cleaned
Bang- (hang up)
Is there really a company out there
called Quality Cleaners?
I keep hanging up
and they keep calling back
Will Dana ever get married
or retire
and leave me alone
with my dirty carpets?
How did she know?
