past passions passed parting
present pains pleasured prolonging
love's longings lowered lingering
world's weight winded waiting
sadness's solo silenced singing
freedom forgotten feared freezing
brittle bones bruised breaking
taciturn tears tattered tumbling
mind's memory mangled melting
reason's remnants ruined remaining
kneels nobody nighted knowing
gutless ghosting gathered grimacing
careless cacophony caged constructing
mammon millions murdered meandering
demons divinity damaged dividing
hearts heads hooked hungering
chastised children chunked chasing
betrayed bought banned burying
jingo jeering jaded judging
kindness kisses kindled killing
quiescent quakes quieted quivering
vapid verses vanquished vaping
words' world wearied wounding
zealot xenophobe zeroed zooming

Grip it, rip it, stick it.
Bombed it, flopped it, topped it too.
Stay, sit, slice, scoot,
Run, kick, roll, draw,
Carry, fly, die, spin,
Watch the little ball go in.
Hop, get up, get down,
Break, oh please just bite,
Ah, the glories of the ball in flight.
On the screws, hit it pure,
Nailed it, straight and sure,
Chunked it, yanked it,
Shanked it, pulled...
Oh, it broke the other way,
Sorry guys I got fooled...
Not my day.
12/30/2017
dirt twirls and dances between the rows
in slow curly q archs
with the same meandering intensity of a lazy summer afternoon as the sun beats down leaving
shimmering specks like a great photo voltaic pond
slightly bending visual acuity in the process
leaving behind a kind of dreamlike haze
just as easily forgotten as remembered
all this is the backdrop to the steady hum of the John Deer
moving earth with an unhurried confidence
one chunked plot of land at a time
no more no less
all the while the lone hawk looks on from its power line throne
on the corner crisp apples are sold
dipped in caramel and sold on a stick
to the bouncing children energetic from the long car ride
all is well in the central valley
Today I sat and threw out the world.
I chunked it all out of my head.
But i left one special girl.
With her love, my heart's hunger will be fed.
The color of her lipstick almost the shade of her heart.
No "I love you", yet but this is a start.
This could be heaven or end up a living hell.
I don't know yet but only time will tell.
If she's gone for a week seemed like a year.
The days were so bleak without her here.
No one knows the pain that I bear.
Knowing that she is not there.
It sounds dumb and immature.
I just adore her it is in my nature.
Through the good times and the bad.
And all the fun we tried to have.
I finally got her to come out of her shell.
I just stayed true and gave time a chance to tell.
Fell to the concrete, body went numb
Bullets tore through my flesh, Damn! I think I’m done
Stick a fork in me, do it come out clean, Hell nah
Dat fork is dripping with my blood.
Came out of nowhere this here ain't right
I’m a hard working man who puts up a fight
never put my hands around a piece of steel
So when I fought, it was with a heart of steel
Solved many problems with these here hands
And when I caught up to you,
I drove your face in the sand
Don’t need this right now, because my family needs this man right now
3 years ago, I might not have cared at all, but now I’m married
And my baby girl can’t be raised by another man at all.
This is a torn moment, it’s vicious. Life did not throw me a curve ball
But instead it chunked me a hell bound twist.
But you know what, it’s the way the world moves.
Never wanted to ever go out like this, ad least let me go out protecting
My future family with my fist. But I guess that’s no longer an option.
And right now I lay painless and bleeding on the concrete.
What can I say, was 25, black and young.
Guess I'm Just another young black man lost to the slums.
