Premium MemberIt Just Won't Let Me Go

       Something’s rumbling inside me
        pushing, kicking
        shoving, shouting
And it won’t let me go, oh no
It just won’t let me go…

     I should consider

Why I was selected for this
     But I never do
I accept it as if it
     were free airline tickets
       Something not to turn down
       Something to cash in

     Oh yeah, almost forgot
     The topic is writing
     Yes, writing
     Its grip on me
       is what sets me free

Joys are daily
Like morning tea
Cash in old jeans.

candlelight and romance

Candlelight and Romance

Suddenly, Portugal was flung into darkness
electricity stopped, and nothing functioned
anymore, credit cards were useless
and those types of cards were the norm as
people carried little cash in their wallets
the day was wounded, walked unsteadily
towards evening, few had thought of
buying candles, the town of Cascais was
fearful and quiet
Having lived for many years in the outer
corners of the countryside where the supply
often failed, was prepared, we had candles
and means to light them
The evening was quite romantic; we sat on
the sofa held hands, telling stories from
our youth, it was almost a disappointment
came back on, the hours of darkness had
brought us closer together

Samantha’s Unwritten Vows

The aisle stretched longer that day,
a white river with no other shore.
Her fingers crushed the lace of her gown—
Where is he?
The guests’ whispers grew teeth,
gnawing the silence between hymns.

Later, they’d say he was the villain,
the man who fled his own shadow.
No one mentioned the envelope
thick with cash in the sexton’s pocket,
or the father’s wine-stained lips
sealing a lie:
“She deserves better.”

(Oh, but the knife twists
when the hand you kiss
sharpens the blade.)

Samantha collects the petals
of her bouquet one by one
each a word from a vow
she’ll never hear.

Ideology

Everyone believes the news
Until it's all disproved
In some dramatic fashion
When the headlines cash in

Everyone tells their family
Their family tells their friends
It doesn't matter what direction
The story comes to in the end

Forge a brand new enemy
Force hatred upon me
Exterminate the likes
We won't have better lives

"Truth" born out of rumors
Rumors borne with fantasy
Taken by the big names
Taken in by you and me

Fact killed by belief
Kills somebody's dream
Why do we let this happen?
Lying here on a mattress
Writing, "Everyone believes the news..."

Premium MemberBeautiful One

Oh, drown my sorrow, sweet love of mine
Let me recite a sacred word:
Oh, love, my love, my only love
Cash in on all your dreams,
For truth shall come upon the day
In prayer, I call your name

[]

Bella, in dreams, thy love doth softly gleam,
A radiant star, that in the darkness sheds light on love redeemed
Thy heart, aflame with hope, doth yearn to soar beyond
The weights of sorrow, to love's pure shore,
To walk with you alone....

more gift cards

More gift cards

What is it with people and the money they dream of I’m not a money person, cash in hand is ok
Perhaps a small account is enough for everyday use to repair a puncture.
A family friend got me to invest in a gift card thing, but I soon realized it was a bad thing, I cut my losses, as they say, a bird in hand is better than birds in the bushes
The gift card company is persistent in a little investment more and I will be very rich, which is the last thing I want to be
I feel sorry for the wealthy who need a yacht to
feel good about themselves big insecure egos begging for us to love them
they tell me I risk losing 400 thousand dollars and
what, on earth am I doing with that, when my thinking is a possible income of 5000 thousand to help with my daily expenses
Take Elon Musk, he is a genius and impossibly rich, always on the move to stave off his inner demons when sits down for a moment he looks inward, he is deeply depressed, and can’t find pleasure for long in what he does
Bless him he has so much to give to the world at
The cost of his well-being
All I want is to read, have coffee, and toast in the morning, and to hell with untold riches

Premium MemberWhat Love Isn't

love,
if indeed true,
isn't putting on pause
affection, approval, respect
until a condition,
or two, is met.
it isn't employing
control tactics
over anyone;
vote
with your feet
whenever handcuffed with
"or else"
cash in your chips
and walk away.
love isn't obligation
to keep someone content.
it isn't pressure
to be someone you're not,
to do anything you'd rather not do.
love,
if no strings are attached,
isn't being made
to feel pangs of guilt
for driving in your own lane,
it isn't being made
to feel indebted
to repay a favor done.
love
is not love if
it feels
one-sided,
looks
crooked.

Premium MemberLunacy

I've always wished to be insane,
to cash in my brain,
and plunge me into the sea
of unhinged lunacy.

I'd roll around the drain,
block out the sun.
and fall from clouds like rain,
before my day was done.
That's my kind of fun.

I'd forget earthly concerns,
eat a Diet of Worms,
play peek-a-boo with Moses.
I'd declare war on Cleopatra
in a War of Roses.

I'd outswim fishes, I sure would -
and be celebrated in Hollywood.
I'd collect one million stamps
and place them on the head of gramps -
If I only could;

but I'm sane and steady,
responsible and ready.
You see,
that's pretty much the story
of my brain's inventory.
Poor me.

Rainy Days

Nothing left to cash in
I'm spent
Keep me on a leash
Don't I pay rent?
Remember you smelled like mine
We'd stay up all night eating cheese with cheap wine
Rainy days and the soft smell of pine

Saucy portrait
Frame me if you'll put me up
Bowling shoes and a fishbowl of love
Poetic dam on a rainy day
A thunderstorm of tomatoes

Premium MemberCome Fill The Cup

Possible TV advertising for a certain kind of "donation" center…
or for guys who might be looking for "gig" employment…with apologies, dear readers...this one's a bit "naughty".

If your bills are getting to you,
The IRS is trying to screw you,
Jobs are few and far between,
And you need to make some green,
You've already sold your hair,
And you've no more blood to spare,
Come where a wank
Will put cash in the bank.

Premium MemberToo Close To The Edge

While my head slumps low, on both crouching knees,
my meek soul doesn't know, rhyme nor reason seize,
on both crouching knees, while my head slumps low,
rhyme nor reason seize, my meek soul doesn't know.

There'd be a stake-knife, that choice heightened soul,
dreams larger-than-life completes source cores whole,
that choice heightened soul, there'd be a stake-knife,
completes source cores whole, dreams larger-than-life.

Disclosures concede strength raised benchmarks high,
stay the course, succeed, proud guides, worth third-eye,
strength raised benchmarks high, disclosures concede,
proud guides, worth third-eye, stay the course, succeed.

No man's land--command, rare form sights take charge,
performed cash-in-hand, zoomed measures discharge,
rare form sights take charge, no man's land--command,
zoomed measures discharge, performed cash-in-hand.

Premium MemberA Pirate in Retirement

He’s late-stage Charles Bukowski,
Hunching gnome-like over the bar,
With weary eyes, and scruffy stubble.
It’s sure he must have seen some trouble.
But he’s got plenty of cash in his pockets,
Along with the keys to a stolen car.
He smells of sea air, wet cement, and whiskey.
His tattoos could be urban graffiti,
Just random tags on ghetto limbs,
An ancient, coded treasure map
Charting landmarks through the route of his career.
He eyes a buxom tavern wench,
Who looks wholesome as a menthol cigarette,
And orders up another round for them all.
The Buccaneers’ Union provides him a generous pension.
He’s living his best life ever on a bounty of plundered loot.
Avast ye! Let’s drink to the golden years.

Premium MemberRevealed

In Battery Point, two centuries stayed
     Settlers’ cottage, compact, sandstone stoic
Paired attic windows see civility made
From grim past pioneering treachery awoke

Piston motion push n pull combustion
Cloudy tea cups cultivate cow cud, churn
     Tangible treaties are carved, thrusting
     Structure schools crops convened return

Stood in a line, life dictates we press
Our progenies - dominoes, foretell demise
     Dots identify, dark remains nameless
Two sided story - twists a spritely surprise

     Federation funds finds plenty plausible
Bundled under blankets, cash in chest reserve
     Heritage heirloom has relic resourceful
Epic ends agony against environment of verve

         Ate what our ancestors Sprinkled

Premium MemberLove Conquers All

Love conquers all
It's often been said
But recently more now than ever
It's so very obvious
Wherever I turn
Love enters my every endeavour

Always been in love
With the joy of love
Since Janice, my first ever crush
Grade two it was
Remember it well
Her life is filled with love I trust

There's been others
Not that many
A couple have never left my heart
Stayed with this guy
For all these years
Been in love with love from the start

It makes this old world
Keep spinning around
Can you imagine this place without love
I'd cash in my chips
Not worth the effort
Love and friendship go hand in glove
