“Cabernet Valentine”
Oh my sweet silent Valentine veins flowing life
Secrets are meant to be kept my obedient wife
Luscious ruby mouth perked open for kissing
Shouldn't be too many acrylics inside missing
Most special day of the year celebrated lovers
Jack-o'-lantern face that is loved by mothers
You were stunning under your sexy lace negligee
If you hadn't screamed maybe you wouldn't be ugly
Silken raven strands stained in cherry hemoglobin
Pink blush cheeks smeared in tears, eyes bulging
Ivory smooth porcelain milky taste surprise banquet
Suckling any precious cell of Cabernet bled droplets
Scarlett pooling in pockets slumber is coming soon
My darling cast your eyes ‘pon our starlit pale moon
With this dagger I placed unto thee sealing eternity
Draining remaining heartbeat writhing in burgundy
My quiet Angel sprawled over long stemmed roses
A conclusion too St Valentine's holiday now closes

cabernet and dragonflies -
red and green fireworks
flitting about tall trunks;
the woods is dark. patio lit
with tea lights, amber and ebony.
pink-crèpe jellyfish, in uttermost twilight,
suspended from jumbo umbrella.
breadsticks, like twigs, snap; several
copious charcuteries.
flickering fate, speed of light
of wedding tale, ancestry
of one hundred years
will sail by in a nod,
but this eve is once upon a time,
merely the engagement.
Merquiene a nutty layered
Chocolate filled layered
Cake
With whipped cream and
dried fruits.
Soaked in orange liquer.
With a thin blueberry tart
or thin blueberry pie.
The Trophy of the Gods
A Night of Championship
Encounters.
Wines and desserts.
After a day of hickory
and mesquites.
Might the elegance of
Night ;sort the Champions
from the contenders.
Only contention to give
Chance, to those who stand
Before the legends of Night!
Raspberry tart and mint chocolate
Ice cream.
BBQ'd Alpaca and cous cous
With lime, cilantro, rice and cumin!
Enough garlic and sour cream
to make the smokey meat
Jive with the onions, peppers
and rice!
Sweet the romance of dessert
Of crusted bluish berried
decadance
which dances reheasted.
Oh what ah night!
Sumthangs like a
Nourish Cabernet!
Sweet,Sweet sorrento
Ah via rhine Beso!
Blueberries, nuts, assorted fruits
Spinach, kale, and vegetable roots
One glass of Cabernet each night
Walk, then meditate--get it right
Running from aging, you can see
Alas, time has caught up with me!

How luscious the ripened grapes, purple sweet
Enthralling us in their leafy bower
Where a lush orchard coddles yield every hour—
Moonlight and dawn gloss velvet skins replete
With bathed nectarine turning into wine…
An elixir when our affection glows :
Cabernet , more precious than scented rose
As lovers’ mouths sip of romance divine!
Contest of Brian Strand: Late Feb 2019
A beautiful ride off into the sunset, and your horse
passes through a blooming cherry orchard bordered by cedars;
your leather saddle was rubbed with high-quality tobacco yesterday.
It's a big herbal cherry sun that is setting, and you can taste it,
with a sprinkling of spices, and the satiny union of the tannins are upon you,
so subtle that you wish for more at first; you must be patient as the velvet embrace deepens, insinuating itself deep within you in a silky smooth process, until a final slow-motion fillip of astringency touches the front of your mouth.
The cork was wet and crumbly almost to the top.
Definitely time to drink this wine; wish I had more.
A great wine to drink in solitary contemplation, or quietly, with friends.
*Robert Mondavi - Rest In Peace, man, you died in 2008 at age 94, and you always believed in making great wine.
Tasting Note written in April, 2015.
You're the raindrops
on a hot summer day
the candle in my window
on a cold stormy night
I look at the full moon
sipping fine wine
A falling star appears
as I whisper your name
