Thou art O Lord a unique One,
And I am a value-less nought,
(Sans thee oh what a worthless dot!)
And an object of abject fun!
I've come thence to thee, this to plead:
Be thou Good Lord my life's sole lead
And let me just tag on to thee,
To One-- zeroes like chicks of hen--
In various powers of ten,
This way can we grow, ye and me.
Sans zeros One remains just one,
Sans One, zeros are next to none.
This way it may sound a wee bit selfish,
But so-how’s cooked in this world every dish!!!

Note: Most prayers sound like a bucket list of wishes and wants. Often, they are conditional give and take— if you grant me this O God, I'll do that, so on so forth. This ditty has reduced it to a business deal, no less!

The Old Zappa song
"More trouble every day"
plays on in my head
every time I turn on the news
and see more trouble every day
as Frank Zappa noted so many years ago
"no one can delay
the trouble coming every day"
Frank Zappa died too soon
before the horrors of the Trump era
that he would have foreseen
if he had lived on
he was truly a prophet
crying in the wildness
while making money
as" an over night sensation"
as he saw the "slime
oozing out of the TV sets"
he proclaimed that we will do what we are told
for the rights to us have been sold
And Jesus too
has been sold
to the highest bidder
nothing but a business deal
in America
the land of the constant deal
where everything and everybody
is nothing but a commodity
to the masters of the universe
and so I turn off the TV
and realize that as Zappa
once sang so many years ago
"the torture never ends"
"the torture never ends"

DEATH OF LOVE
When gazing at my
love-struck eyes
He said
"Romance gags me
Marriage is a business deal
Love is for weaklings"
I
Wasn’t dead
yet
When
gazing at my garden
He said
"Plant only
Food
Dump
Out the flowers"
I
Wasn’t
Dead
yet
When gazing at the moon
He said
"Close all the windows
Seal all the cracks it
saves money"
I
Wasn’t dead
yet"
when
the birdsong faded
in the silence
I crawled away
I
Wasn’t
Dead Yet.

In this cold night this boy could coil
For the whole day he had to toil
In the field of hard soil.
His income was as little as his body oil
And couldn't even afford water to boil.
Down the streets goes the boy on his knees
Trying to do something and earn what is his,
Not one people had to embarrass him with a tease.
But the boy had to find his success keys
For he even dropped out of school cause of no fees.
The boy, day and night had to hustle,
And with all his might, against poverty, had to tussle,
And even though he knew he had no muscle,
His dream was to live in the biggest castle.
Years passed and his hard work paid,
In his mansion at sea, he has not one maid.
He's the one who now offers aid
To those who poverty have laid.
But who knew this could be real?
For after a long time, the boy is now heal.
Those who looked down on him have a business deal
With him and now even sits among them to have a meal.

Criminals Online
By Elton Camp
From the daily volume of spam received
Are more scamsters than can be believed
Why would anyone I’ll never come to see
Want to enter into a business deal with me?
Who would share an abandoned bank account,
Especially if containing some fabulous amount
Then of a sweepstakes I have become a winner
How strange since I didn’t even have to enter
A rich, foreign woman wants me to sponsor her
That I might be a murderer never seems to occur
One found my name as being defrauded, on a list
That he can get my money back he does insist
Since I’ve not been cheated even a single time,
I know for certain that he is a lying ball of slime
And every time any foreign plane does crash
The entire wealthy family, to death, it does dash
If I can just say that I am the very next of kin,
Then a profitable sharing of assets can begin
To avoid being cheated, just follow sane advice
Don’t open any spam, much less look at it twice

O beauty, under whose spell this man be
intoxicated by her love affair
as every night she wraps, seductively,
in whispers! Swirling whispers in the air.
With pride of life, with lust of flesh and eyes,
her stratagem promotes wicked appeal
like sinfully delicious chocolate lies
my palette wets to make a business deal.
Then, somehow, with her charismatic charm
this brightest angel fallen from beyond
can have a man to trade his best for harm
and, in this cosmic game of chess, be pawned,
at whence the spell she lifts, plays magistrate.
So wrongly does she toy with this man's fate.

BOY: I’ve been meaning to talk to you for quite a while
GIRL: What’s on your mind? You know I haven’t much time.
BOY: I know, I know that's why I called this ‘meeting’…
GIRL: This isn’t a business deal, funny! What have you been thinking?
BOY: Well, this is kind of hard for me to say…
GIRL: Times running out honey, shall we leave it for another day?
BOY: You don’t really listen to me and hear my thoughts or opinions!
GIRL: Whatever…this isn’t going to be about relationships, power and
dominion..?
BOY: See! You’re doing it now. I can’t take it any more!
GIRL: Honey, if you don’t speed up I’m going through the door.
BOY: Look! This isn’t working out at all. What should we do?
GIRL: Ok that’s great baby, still meeting for lunch at two?
BOY: I’ve had it with you! You only think of yourself!
GIRL: I hear you baby, but hurry. Anything else?
BOY: Yes, I’ve decided I’m leaving you now. Understand me ok?
GIRL: Right, right…as I thought, we’ll leave it for later today.
