Sideways

You practice and you train,
you wrack your damn brain,
you push through the pain,
it still goes
sideways.

You’re up before dawn,
give it guts and brawn,
till the last ounce is gone,
it still goes
sideways.

You have all the tools,
and follow regs and rules,
like all the other fools,
it still goes
sideways.

You do it all right,
keep it in the fight,
hustling day and night,
it still goes
sideways.

No matter what you do,
how much you go through,
all the s*** you knew,
it still goes
sideways.

Sideways.
Sideways.
Always goes sideways.
Off the rails.
Off the track.
Backa**wards.
Catching flak.
Sideways.
Things get crazy.
S*** hits the fan.
Goes **** up.
Gotta pay the man.
Sideways.

Things gone south.
Went to the dogs.
Gone to hell.
Lost in the fog.
Just sideways.
Sideways.

The Art of War

Hit them where it hurts

President Trump said “Ukraine has no cards to play to end war with Russia”. Yet deep inside Russia, Ukraine masterfully destroys over 40 warplanes that could carry nuclear weapons, using smuggled drones; simultaneously attacks multiple air fields. Russia loses an estimated $7,000,000,000 dollars in one day. This is the one for the history books

It’s what you call “the art of war”
Unseen, unheard, not done before
Hit in the balls, the chin and mug
Ukraine plants hurtful wartime slug

The “Trojan Horse” of modern times
Payback for vicious bloody crimes
Can’t puff your cheeks, the air’s gone
Deprives the evil of its brawn

No one can tell them what to do
Defeating goons is peace, that’s true
As heavy blow, as ever been
Support the noble fight, to win

Burned planes launched heaviest attacks
Could threaten world with N-word axe
And now they’re gone, ain’t that a shame?
We watch. Hey, “Slava to Ukraine”!

         We chose
         heroes

         based on
         sheer brawn

         but now

Premium MemberDancing Elephants

Twas the funniest sight
Saw an elephant dance
Wearing a frilly green dress
Without any pants

A crowd gathered round
To take in the sight
Some squirrels and penguins
And hippos on bikes

A bunch of silly monkeys
Wearing polka dot ties
Were joking with tigers
Wearing shades for disguise

What a glorious scene
They were all having fun
Taught us all a great lesson
To love everyone

No matter our colour
Or the size of our brawn
Everyone's our brother
So let's all get along

Saw the happiest thing
At a party last night
All the creatures were happy
What a beautiful sight!

Brain Over Brawn

Actions may thunder, but my words ignite,
A blade of wisdom, cutting sharper than might.
Not just whispers, but a raging inferno,
Lighting the world with the spark of the wise.

They lift, they strain, their muscles implore,
While I wield knowledge, a much sharper tool.
Strength is fleeting, a flicker, a spark,
While ideas burn bright, a light in the dark.

Every page turned is a fortress I build,
Each lesson a weapon, each thought finely milled.
They train for the battle, but I script the war,
A tactician of intellect, feared to the core.

They flex, they brawl, their power shakes ground,
Yet time is their rival—strength won’t rebound.
Flesh withers, bones crack, but my wisdom remains,
An empire of insight, not bound by chains.

So let them swing, let them roar and fight,
While I conquer in silence, yet shine just as bright.
For might may crumble, but mind reigns long,
It's brain over brawn—that is true.

Premium MemberAn Odd Thief

There’s an odd thief in our neighborhood
Who steals stuff that he must think is good
Beginning with my small bushes and trees
Which at the start, made no sense to me

Then parts of my fence suddenly disappeared
And a pile of firewood was totally cleared
Yet when most of my porch pickets were gone
It was time to dispense some fighting brawn

By taking some sort of drastic action
For our family needed some satisfaction
Yet the next day he stole lawn sport’s equipment
And a stack of pallets fresh from a shipment

The following day when I got home from work
My front door was ajar; from that crooked jerk
Who oddly took walking sticks and umbrellas
Which confirmed this thief was a strange fella

Since I was so ticked, I left to ponder the scam
Then I saw on a side road a new beaver dam
Amidst the prairie sits this cobbled-up dome
Built with those good things smuggled from our home

Our prairie was treeless, devoid of beaver
Until this thieving one, which was a great weaver
And to top it off, I was totally floored
Coz its lodge was crowned with our head board!

Self-Proclaimed

I used to know Mr. Billy Bones,
at four-foot five inch tall
a local marvel.
A spark in his clear blue eyes,
muscle and brawn,
cheeky and bold
at fifty years old.
It was no surprise
Billy the high street butcher,
felt no need
to advertise.

Premium MemberSean and Chuck

My feet are stuck in the muck, cried Chuck the duck.
Sean the swan came to his rescue across the lawn,
Chuck, grab my wing, and we’ll swing into the spring!
Chuck used his beak, as chic feathers tickled his cheek,
They flew out of the muck, we’re now unstuck, Sean clucked.
Chuck felt happy, Sean felt scrappy as they fished for crappie.
Chuck felt struck with luck as he caught one, but it stuck,
Sean the swan, brave and brawn, caught the prawn.
Now a pack, enjoyed their snack, as they happily clacked!

Falling for you is so easy to do.
In my most private thoughts and heart I burn
just to feel intimate closeness to you.
And then for just a brief moment I yearn
for the certain answer, "Will you be true?"

Just as easily, I fell for you, too.
Add my thoughts to your fire and feel it burn -
from outside to inside and straight on through.
Erase that brief moment from your concern.
Only to you, shall I always be true.

I frequently sing of your strength and brawn,
seek the security of your embrace
to hold me so tightly until the dawn
before you soar far away without trace.
"Will you be mine?” is the line I have drawn.
.
You light my heart like the sun lights the dawn,
as I gaze upon your beautiful face,
the prettiest the sun has shone upon.
Your place in my life no one can replace.
Trust me fully, and your line will be gone.

Human is it to humour

If lesser chimps bow, trail alpha male’s tail,
If a filly fawns on a horny stag,
Show her willing hind to dominant male,
If paupers please a podgy moneybag,
Man, an attired ape, bows to brawn and brain,
Pour pains on him to please power-wielding pelf,
A creepy spoon knows none of due restrain,
And flatters fat pockets for puny self.

A man no whit better than a proud toad
May pretend t’be an alpha lion king,
Yet if knows not enough that it's too odd,
He’s a cat that cringes in circus ring.
To bow to hefty weight as human is
As humouring lofty heights as to please.

Unhinged

I never go looking to look at a man
At muscles or height or brawn

So please understand
As I illustrate the picture I've sought to have drawn

While carefully I considered
the choice of a new spring frock

Unaware a stranger there proceded to
Pick the lock

On my reserve and composure
that I keep under lock and key

When a distinguished man
close at hand in french said please excuse me

Caught unaware no time for resolve
I henceforth went weak in the knee

Premium MemberVaccinate the Yawn

News is abhorring
And so boring
Starting from the break of dawn
I think we need
To be indeed
Vaccinated for the yawn

They always try
The same tired lie
Their old shtick goes on and on
I’ll catch my death
With lack of breath
If they don’t vaccinate the yawn

They put on acts
With rusty facts
Their dog dug up from the lawn
And then they’ll drone
Over that bone
Hurry and vaccinate the yawn

Obey we should
For public good
And if not they’ll use their brawn
That same lousy
Makes me drowsy
Excuse me while I yawn

Here’s protection
From infection
Sorry but we’ve seen that con
So please instead
Cure sleepyhead
And vaccinate the yawn

We’ve had enough
Of their old stuff
We’re pooped out being their pawn
Since they’re creepy
We’ll stay sleepy
Until they vaccinate the yawn
