I do enjoy imbibing a vintage libation
now and again (and again, and again)
but when I thought I'd bought
the best bottle of Bordeaux money can buy,
then looked at the label on the back,
before pulling the cork, I nearly had a heart attack.
'Characterised by a great body,' it stated,
'velvety cedar and hazelnut texture,'
but my taste buds went unsated,
'with an intense deep ruby red colour,' to summarise,
'possesses exceptional aromas of cherries,'
and much to my surprise,
'with hints of vanilla, blackcurrant, raspberries,
cassis and tobacco which reveal
a long, chocolaty finish and a good mouth feel.'
Altho' this above-average beverage may in time be fine,
I'm truly convinced no grapes were unduly harmed
in the making of this wine!
Johann Sebastian Bach
composed concertos that rock
Ludwig von Beethoven
gave us music for roamin' and rovin'
Austrian composer Johann Strauss
the popularity of waltzes widened
An Amadeus Mozart violin solo
sparkles with a glass of bordeaux
When on these composers folks take a pass
~ they miss out on a classical gas

Life is short, or so they say
That’s why you must remember to get away!
It’s important to remember take a break and relax
If only to get away from my town called Halifax
My family are packed and are ready to go
For our annual pilgrimage to Bordeaux
Why Bordeaux? I hear you say
That’s where I grew up in my younger days
Running like a majestic spirit through the vines
Watching my parents produce our family wine
My sister and myself getting into all sorts of scrapes
To me and my father collecting the grapes
For the past ten years I have to tried to recreate this
For my children to reminisce
About the times they spent in Bordeaux
Keepsakes, for tomorrow
Bordeaux, I cannot wait to be back with you
To help me realise, my life is not a taboo.
Bordeaux Ben just loved red wine,
Would only drink when dining fine,
Didn't drink beer, wouldn't drink gin,
Mum said, alchohol at home was a sin,
So he ate at restaurants all the time.
There once was a young man from Turkey
Whose food tastes were known to be quirky
On braised lamb with Bordeaux
He had quickly said no
And asked if they had some Beef Jerky

I am an aged dusky man,
like a bottle of Bordeaux wine,
The older am I,
The Stronger my tipsiness,
I am packed in old Jeroboam bottle;
May be in old filthy bottle,
Yet soul is fresh vigorous,
inebriating wine;
My soul is prisoner under cork,
Once is released,
gravity is at height;
Squirt my wetty aroma,
exhilarates all for fun;
My body may break or perish,
Even may leave me helpless,
Yet am Bordeaux wine, loved by all,
They all know, more the older am I,
More the tipsiness I have;
I am an aged dusky man,
like a bottle of Bordeaux wine;

Bordeaux birds are forever bright
They avoid Lammergeiers night
Flamingos and storks
Know the use of forks
In the Puy de Sancy height
I set the table, place for one
Pour the wine, cork undone
Filet mignon, to perfection done
Topped with greens, and a sauce of rum
The evening sets, as it always had
A gourmet meal, aint so bad
I make a toast to the other side
As silence waits, I must abide
As I hold my glass
Of Bordeaux wine
I dare to wish but for one more thing
In darkened silence, the phone to ring
Soufflé simply will not do
There is no sweet without you
The perfect meal evades me still
The evening fades into a chill
Sleep evades my dreamy mind
And in the haze of wishful thoughts
Dinner was served
With a Kiss
