Ambiverted

The party is loud, noise in the air
People all around,
I'm sitting down,
Present.......but not really there.

I linger in the back,a watchful eye
In the background,
Invisible
I see many pass me by.

Interest has left, and all feels dull
No one approaches
Or wants to talk,
My introversion makes me mull.

I could be social, and enter the fray
But it's all a group
And shallow talk,
No deep conversations today.

No good friends for discourse;
I know all here
But still feel a stranger;
All too well,I know this remorse.

I try to mingle, but I've lost the heart
They all seem so........
Uninterested;
So from the crowd,I stay apart.

I try distraction,for my mind,
The food is good
But not much else,
Entertainment is hard to find.

Why,I ask,did I even go?
My hypocrisy
Boggles me,
Why I'm like this,I don't know.

Yet here I am,a wallflower;
Unbecoming for a guy,
I think,
As I wait away the hours.

Maybe I'll find someone,someday,
To talk the boredom
Away with,
Until the party fades away...............

Oh look,they finally started volleyball

            volleyball is fun.......

Born beautiful, bacon breath,
Beau, besides being boisterous,
basketcase boggles,
batty behavior,
bounds beyond boundaries,
brazen barking bravado,
bane of UPS drivers bringing boxes,
bowling bewildered brother canine bedfellows,
befriending beagles,
basking beside bashful basset hounds,
belabors begging beef at table,
bedazzled by butterflies,
bobblehead bouncy Beau,
basically befuddled,
becalmed by bedtime biscuit,
beloved baffling beastie!

Premium Member'I Am Thankful For'

Thanks go first and last to my wife
       My best friend, companion
          the love of my life

She sticks with me through thick and thin
       Which boggles my mind
reflecting on the jams we’ve been in

She tells me her darkest secrets, no matter how awful
I, in turn, return the favor ~
          We've been through a 'jawful'

Premium Memberdeliciously malicious

oh how I love that fiery fire
your iris eyes, alive with ire
enuf to snuff an angel choir
   those put-out pupils glaring
with rage to age the staring

such change in colors when irate
whene’er the air’s just shy of hate
from green, to hues of blues or slate
you warm, with exclamations
      my hot-thought fascinations

soft anger brings your blood alive
a queen bee, seething in her hive
the one crazed gaze I long to dive
      and swim it’s brimming power
         midst glares with daring, dour

I prize your coquette smile, ‘tis true
but how your ogle boggles, too
so dear, is each last leer from you
         through all your fiercest fashions
your zest is dressed for passions

folks may not understand just why
I’m shook, each look, your evil eye
I don’t quite have the heart to try
to tell them what they’re missing
with each dire glance, dismissing …

that fire they could be kissing.

It's an agony that assails and assaults.
It's a state of indecision that boggles the mind;
It's a heart and soul that's off track and taken aback.
It's a sleepy boredom fighting hard to stay awake.

It's a darkening cloud of unholy irritation whose
remedy calls for more than a sacred getaway.
It's a sinking ship in need of new and better sails.
Not yet lost, but weary with the toss and the turn.

It's where change is brewing at the crossroads.
Where guidance to leave or to stay, is our humble prayer.
It's a change that, although not set in stone, yields
A sense of siege and renders a holding pattern.

It's a holding pattern having neither staying power
Nor authority to determine decisive landings.
It's a landing which, if unrealized, could delay or
even halt new seasons and dim anticipated visions.

Paradox

Boggles the mind..

The boggling is

Fixed in illusory

Separation..so

There is no mind

To boggle..but

This story may

Resonate as

Freedom...

Liaison

"Liaison"

All seeing,
one eye watching
isn’t blind

I close mine
then open them,
shut the mind

there’s a certain bad romance
in the all seeing
just being, drags you in

then you get tangled
up in the full clandestine tryst,
liaison with some nebulous King

covert,
the dossier opened
and read,

"la grande histoire d'amour
avec la recommencer étant,
je suis, celui"

an irregular puzzle,
the curious and
the curiouser;

a mystery;
the flirtatious mind
shut out, boggles

(LadyLabyrinth / 2023)

“It is by going down into the abyss
that we recover the treasures of life.
Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.
Whoever fights monsters
should see to it, that in the process,
he does not become a monster.
And if you gaze long enough into an abyss,
the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Inflation digs and causes pain,
why it happens boggles the brain;
You all need help. We know it;
Tip a talented poet

It Boggles the Mind

They put up a sign on the highway
Which pointed the way to a bridge,
Replacing the prior one, thinking
Perhaps it improved things a smidge.

But yikes! No one bothered to proofread;
The name of the bridge was misspelled.
If I were the person in charge, well,
They’d censor the words I’d have yelled.

It boggles the mind to imagine
How something so stupid occurred.
A double-check would have made certain
Such nonsense would have been deterred.

Premium MemberMad Inventions

Mad Inventions.
.
We all have lightbulb eureka moments
But some take them to the extreme
How some things are conceived
Could only come from a crazy imagination
And a weird hapless dream
.
Created with good intentions
To find solutions and make life easier
Mindless inventions
Often leave the creator
With a hole in their pocket
And egg on their face
.
They may have seemed a good idea at the time
But specs for dogs and strange machines
Only boggles the mind
.
Who are these people?
Who think they are smart
I hate to judge at least they tried
But how sad when things
Fall apart
.
But without such minds where would we be now
Probably living in caves
And throwing spears
At wild beasts and cows.

Premium MemberA Feeling of Dread

Despite what some folks say about it
Seasonal depression is not a fantasy.
It's that overwhelming feeling of dread
That one might not make it through
Another unbearably cold and nasty winter.
It sets in about mid-September
Folks say, "It's beginning to feel like fall."
October, for sure, when leaves turn
Orange red and brown cover the ground
Warm afternoons are spent raking
Although the air midday is a bit nippy.
Shadows creep earlier toward the evening sky
The sight of decorative pumpkins and thoughts
Of what will I wear on Halloween if I live
That long, will I make it to another Christmas?
But I always have, and that boggles my mind

Can't think of a more inhospitable place
The Sahara Desert has such a barren landscape
Yet people exist
Continue to subsist
It boggles the mind how it's a livable space

Premium MemberAnonymous

My favorite writer is well-known and most profound,
A master wordsmith and writer of great renown,
I have searched far and wide for this bard so profuse,
Just refers to himself by the name, Anonymous.

Of antiquity, a distinguished writer of great worth,
One of the best to ever live upon this earth,
No picture of this person has never been found,
Just a remarkable figure who was never crowned.

How can such a library of this value be bound,
And logged into history without cosmic sound,
From whence arose this mastermind of prose and rhyme,
Seemingly without equal, this unique of a kind.

What connotation and thought this author left behind,
To educate and entertain, it boggles the mind,
Most writers want fame and means from the populace,
But not the writer known only as Anonymous.

Premium MemberBeer Goggles

There’s young girls and women
All frantically slimming
Perhaps they’re all seeking a mate

But blokes around here
Full of burgers and beer
Are ugly or well overweight

They wear their beer goggles
And when their mind boggles
They ask some old trout on a date

One snuck down an ally
With hideous Sally
Who offered herself on a plate

He fell off the wagon
And entered the dragon
Which meant a lot more than a date

She soon had a grumble
About that drunk fumble
‘You should have been careful... I’m late!’

That drunk was no baddie
But now he’s a daddy
He wasn’t expecting that fate

But fellas who wink
As they swig down a drink
Make dads who will soon abdicate

So put down your salad
For this is no ballad
And the blokes around here ain’t that great
